Hey now, I was planning to take the summer off from growing and then test out some CMH fixtures/bulbs for an outfit in the fall but I got an opportunity to test out this Medic Grow Spectrum X 880 Watt LED with supplemental UV/IR lighting......So, I decided to test her out on a few new strains for me as well as a few of my previous favorites. I popped two Auto Glueberry OG beans into a glass of water last night before I crashed and just planted them into solo cups with pro mix soil starter blend, as they had tiny little tails.
I came home from work today and as soon as I pulled up I saw a massive box propped up against my garage and I knew the Spectrum X had arrived. It was very easy to hang, I did use the hanging wires that came with it to first get it up, (They are super nice and easy to use) However I wasn't able to raise it as high as I wanted, so I attached standard ratchets to the same hooks in addition to the ones that came with it, and was able to raise the light another 6 inches or so. I was then able to easily tighten up the cable hangers that I initially hung it with, so I was able to get it raised with the extra protection from any strap or cable failure. I hung it myself fairly easily and it probably took me about 20 minutes to get it hung and level.
I also have an 8" AC Infinity inline fan just above it, and the bottom of the Spectrum X is 12" from the roof of the tent. With my-self draining runoff system and the height of the grow containers, I have 52" of total space from top of container to LED, so with a 12" buffer between lights and canopy I will end up with 40" of usable vertical space. Main reason I agreed to test this light was the UV/IR spectrum bars which are included with the Spectrum X. I have been researching the effects of UV/IR supplemental lighting, specifically the effects on THC production and have been super impressed and wanting to try them.
The Spectrum X is also tunable with a blue spectrum (V1) for Veg which keeps nodes tight, as well as an F1 spectrum which is high in deep reds for flower. You can also integrate the UV/IR bar into your light cycle however you want via the timer on the control panel. The panel also tells you the wattage, light spectrum, PPF value, and power draw. I did pick up a new 5X5 tent for this run, as this light would be a super tight fit in a 4x4 and would have more power than would be usable IMO.
I planted the seedling sprouts into solo cups with adequate drainage in a mixture of Pro-Mix seedling starter and Perlite. I will grow them out for a few weeks and then pick one and give the other to a friend. I will then transfer her to a 5.4 gallon airpot and she will be grown the rest of the way in a mixture of coco coir and perlite and fed 4X per day. I will also be running a timelapse of this grow and hopefully making some fun videos. I am super excited to see what this BEAST of a light can do with some amazing genetics, grown in coco coir with high frequency fertigation and with a half decent grower. 💪 Stay Safe and Blaze On!!!

@Tweezer, I haven't grown this strain but anything with OG kush is normally 👌
Dutch passion have some amazing genetics but it's been years since I grew any (the to grow list is always growing and ever changing)
I've grown purple punch from barney's farm , it was a real nice plant with a nice high and was so pretty 😍.
Have you grown barney's farm miosa evo ? I've grown maybe 10 seeds of it ,all really nice but 2 of those were very very terpy in a breath taking way , sadly I didn't keep mothers of them but it's a strain I will definitely grow and search that particular pheno out .
Have a great weekend brother.
@LittleBigTrees, Thanks much appreciated, have you ever grown these genetics and if so how was she? This is actually my first run of anything Dutch Passion, but I have heard great things about them. I am going to be popping a couple Strawberry Banana Autos from Fastbuds tomorrow and then some Gorilla Girl by Sweet sseeds and Purple Punch by Barney's Farm in another week to fill out the tent. Stay safe brother.
@Tweezer, nah, it was a freebie seed that ended up cloning itself by the dozen. lots of root seedlings popped up once flower hit with cotyledon leaves and everything. pulled one up by the stem haha
@@resimax, Thanks brother, I hope she ends up looking like your girl scout cookie clone, that would be fucking sick!!! Tough to get good clones in my region, did you grow them yourself?
With that setup 😍 you'll smash these. My friend did the auto glueberry from dutch passion and from my memory it turned out very good as with the other DP seeds (skywalker haze auto) I've seen, I'll be doing more from these guys myself. Love all the info you add, I need to get myself a uv/ir supplement light, I've got the mars ts3000 atm. Love the setup you've got, I'll get there one day lol.
@Aldo90, Much appreciated brother. Mars Hydro makes great lights for the price, my first light was a 100 Watt Spider Farmer and then i pretty much used a combination of mainly mars hydro FC 3000 and a little bit of Vipar Spectra and an occasional HPS bulb. I saw you grow in coco sometimes, did you ever set up an automatic feeding system that waters them every 6 hours or whatever? I build my own self draining saucers with a few parts you can buy off amazon and it makes life so much easier. All I do is mix a 5 gallon bucket of nutes every other day or whatever and dump it into the reservoir. I also have to clean the reservoir and pump once a week (which takes me 10-15 minutes, and also check the PH once a day and add a few drops of PH down if necessary. The most expensive part is a condensate pump that is like $120 but it is absolutely worth it. It allows the runoff to just follow gravity into a bucket in the corner of your tent, then when it gets up a few inches the pump kicks on and pumps it outside the tent to a larger runoff reservoir. I use the runoff to feed my tomatoe plants and they go crazy from it. The feeding system is just a 14 gallon reservoir with a pump and airstone hooked up to a digital timer and then a feeding line to each plant with a ballvalve to adjust the flow, and connected to a halo that goes around your plant and you can attach to the grow container. Only takes an afternoon to set up and it super worth it. I can go away for the weekend and forget about it.
If you want the website to build it hit me up, be safe brother.
@KingSalomonsWeed, thanks brother, I appreciate that, this is my first time ever trying out supplemental uv/ir but alot of the lab reports I have consistently boost thc in like clones by around 4-6% on average in a controlled environment, so I am super excited to compare the results with some same strains I previously ran.
Of course - your babies look amazing. Im in love with the hanging grow bags as well. I started strapping my bags to an old useless car port frame to get them away from the rabbits lol. Love seeing your grows. Grow on toke on! 💚
Those medic grow lights are identical to sonofarm lights. I was trying to look into it today but I couldn't find much. Literally the same light fixtures inside and out ??? Let me know how you like it
@@Billyandbarb, damn you are correct, I looked em up and I don't see any difference, maybe selling the same light under 2 brands? Not sure....I will have a much better review in a few months but so far am very happy with the Spectrum X....
@@@Billyandbarb, hey now, that's just a 200 watt panel heater I use mainly for seedlings and set to only run during lights off as supplemental heat to prevent leggy seedlings.
