Sunshine55 Sissy is 3 days behind Bud, but I’m sure it will even out. Might have fucked them up by moving them between my window sill and the back porch. OR made them stronger — we’ll see. Moved them to the grow tent under 400w HPS bulb Sunday (day 8 for bud, day 5 for sis) It’s been steady between. 90-97 degrees and in the high 60’s humidity. Going to move into a cooler spot.

well you know auto are on a clock so the time she need to recuperate from topping is time she not working on her root so less root equale less big buds so I would suggest LST more then topping but experimentation is knowledge and thats always good ...good luck 😉

Do you really want to top an auto? If this is your first grow, I personally wouldn't recommend it. I find this article very straight forward: https://www.growweedeasy.com/can-you-top-autoflowering-strains 2 things I read there that I think are very important to consider: - "For a first-time grower of autos, it can be easy to stress the plant and stunt its growth for all kinds of regular reasons. Topping just throws another factor into the equation!" - "When it’s Not Recommended to Top Auto-Flowering Plants: - it’s your first grow...." Notice that it doesn't say you shouldn't top autos, just that you really should think about it and consider many aspects. So in the end for me, it's a situation call. Observe how strong and healthy your girl grows, how big she grows, how manageable the grow conditions are, etc. Maybe try some LST first. The other thing I've tried, is to grow several girls from the same strain at the same time and try different methods on each one, so you can compare. Sure 3 different girls, even from the same strain, are still 3 different growing beings, but at least you have a point of reference. On the other hand, as I've mentioned in other comments, it is from mistakes, that we learn the most. So from that point of view, sure, why the hell not? Top it! 😎 Good luck!

Yeah man, anything between 3rd and 7th node will be fine, but i personally wouldn't top an auto so early. wait maybe until the 5th node. 3rd node for mainlining maybe, up to 7th node you'll be fine. Just don't top too early or you'll stunt your lady !

Sunshine55 This was a big week. Last Sunday i moved them into a MUCH cooler environment, and they’ve loved it. Then a few days later replanted them, burying the stems to the cotyledons. They seem to be doing really well- it’s been two days and they don’t seem to be in shock. Can’t wait to see them take off!

Sunshine55 Well. This week i made some mistakes, but i think we’re pulling through okay. Transferred Sis to her own pot because they were competing for space. Since she’s been slower to thrive, i decided to risk transferring her over Bud. The next day they both seemed fine, but i noticed some yellow on one of Sissy’s leaves. Nute burn? The following day, both were a little droopy and i thought maybe i overdid it with watering trying to compensate for the Transfer. Skipped water for two days. Both seem like they’re back on track! Starting to give off a faint, yet pleasant aroma

Sunshine55 They started to flower! Very exciting!!!! Bud is still way bigger than Sis, but she’s still doing great. Stopped giving nutrients this week. Really no reason why.

Sunshine55 Well. Major things happening personally and haven’t given the girls nearly as much attention. I forgot them (HOW?!) got two days. They got no water and started to die. Ultimate sadness. Hoping they will pull through. Oh. Also switched to a 400W MH bulb. I can’t capture the beauty of the buds with my phone.

Good morning Sunshine! Sorry...couldn’t resist! Tiny seedlings don’t need much light, and stretching is neither desirable nor a disaster. I don’t grow HID but from what I’ve learned 14” sounds too close, and of course it’s hot. When you re-pot bury the stem over the cotyledons, and even the first true node if she has stretched. You can top anytime but after the fifth node is commonly accepted as a good time to do so. Best wishes for a great harvest!

@growdoctordc, shoot! I replanted them Sunday - not to the cotyledons! Will it hurt them if i do that today? “Night Time” will be in about 3 hours. Would it be best to do it then? Or wait til “morning”? Thank you so much!!

@Sunshine55, If there is room in the pot, just fill it up with soil. It’s ok to gently press the stem almost flat and bury it. Snip off the first and second sets of leaves before burying. The top will face upwards after an hour. When it has grown a little, add more soil for support as needed. But if you have to re-pot, disturb the root ball as little as possible.

Hi @Sunshine55! Well, "third set of leaves" is a bit ambiguous, but if you're talking about the 3rd node then yes, it's the right node to top for an autoflowering strain. I'd recommend to wait for the 4th node to appear, before topping at the 3rd node, it's much convenient/easier and it will also speed up the new growth, because of the strong structure of the main stem & bottom nodes. This usually should be done between week 3 and 4, depending on your plant's size and health. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊
