19/4/23 I actually wanted to grow five big bang plants from greenhouse seeds, unfortunately one seed seems unresponsive to germination. It’s still in a paper towel so I’m not giving up on it yet but it looks like it is not reactive. So I decided to germinate a RQS northern light three days later to fill in the fifth pot.
The tent is currently also inhabited by three red cups containing RQS northern light auto’s, these will be moved outside to the garden soon for some testing.
25/4/23 germination update, plants look well. The northernlight was planted a little late but looks good. Moving the last redcup out today.
I noticed the plants got a little stretchy so i lowered the lights with about 5cm and increased the wattage a little.
30/4/23 (Day three veg stage) So the big bang auto’s stretched quite a lot to my dissatisfaction. They possibly stretched up to 15 centimeters and big bang auto 3 even fell on the ground, not being able to support itself. I attended the matter by adding supporting sticks with ties (as seen in the photographs) and added 3 to 4 centimeters of soil by topping off the pots. Also I lowered the lights from ~52cm to ~42cm and went from 30% to 40% light usage, I did this gradually over the course of 2 days to minimise potential stress. This should be more than enough light for this stage of the grow so I’m a little confused as to why they stretched so much. I am also using a fan so there’s a constant airflow through the tent.
Not a perfect start but it should be manageable. Funnily enough the northern light auto did not nearly stretch quite as much, so it could possibly also be due to genetics.

31/5/23 day 36.
The plants are now starting pre flower. I’m going to hit them one more time with some grow nutrients, mostly rich in nitrogen to help them stretch. I’m also going to stop with the Rhizotonic since I assume the roots should have properly spread by now.
Also the 150W leds are now running at 75%. I gradually upped the wattage a bit every day. The plants are stretching so fast the lamp has to be adjusted daily. Currently the center plant has stretched a little too much for my liking so I bent the stem to create more of an even canopy. Hopefully all goes well.
1/6/23 The plants are in flower now and next week I will change the stage from veg to flower in the diary. The stem that I have bent will probably just stand straight tomorrow, but I also don’t want to damage it.
4/6/23 day 40 The center plant (big bang 4) was stretching a lot more than the others so I tried cracking the stem and bending it over which worked for a little. But today I went too hard on it and the top completely detached from the plant.. I grabbed some ducktape and I taped it back on there, even though it was 100% detached it seems to work actually.
