Hey now, I hope everyone is well, I am excited to test this new light out, the Spectrum X tunable 880 Watt light from Medic Grow with supplemental UV/IR lighting. The light comes with the option to use a blue spectrum for Veg (V1) as well as a flower spectrum which is much higher in deep red lighting (F1). There is also the option to integrate the UV/IR spectrum into your light cycle. I have heard great things about the increased production of THC when integrating UV/IR into your grow room, so i am super excited to test this fixture.
Seed germination: My process is to gently scuff my seeds in 320 grit sandpaper that is rolled up like a dollar bill, I shake them inside maybe 8 to10 times max. I then I soak them for 2 hours or so until they sink in a glass of water, then 24-36 hours in a moist paper towel transferred to a ziploc bag full of air and then placed on a heat mat while covered in a dark colored towel to block out light. I then place her tail down into a tiny hole in the moist pro mix seedling starter mix which is in a 16 ounce solo cup with plently of holes in the cup for drainage. I then cover the top of the seedling sprout with DRY pro mix, and the reason is I have found the sprout emerges several hours faster without the added water weight to push through and waste energy making its initial push through wet/heavy soil, main thing is to keep the radicle in the dark. Many growers say that planting an auto flower in the final container is ideal because it reduces transplant shock, however I disagree. I believe it is much more beneficial to allow the root system to develop a ball of mass in a small container such as a solo cup, before transplanting to the final container. If a tiny seedling is planted in a large container prior to developing root mass, it has a tendency to grow directly to the bottom of the container and colonize at the bottom rather than the root system colonizing the entire container.
My plan is to keep one of the two seedlings and give the other to a friend. While in the solo cups with pro mix seedling starter, I will water the seedlings just plain water through an oral syringe just watering around the edge of the solo cup slowly to encourage the roots to seek out the water and expand to fill the container. I have learned the hard way not to overwater seedlings and to pay attention the weight of the solo cup rather than what the soil looks like.
Around day 21 and a few days prior to topping, I will transplant her to her final home which will be a 5.4 Gallon Air-pot and immediately begin to apply high frequency fertigation via a reservoir hooked up to a digital timer with an irrigation line running to a fertigation halo. I will also build a gravity fed automatic runoff removal system which will consist of a couple drain pans with a drain line running to a five-gallon bucket in the tent, which will have a submersible pump that will move the runoff outside the tent into another reservoir. This setup may sound difficult, but it can be easily constructed in an afternoon, and it will make your entire grow easy and efficient.
Once in her final container and during Veg, she will receive Silica, Cal Mag, and Maxi Grow by General Hydroponics. Silica and Cal Mag will be used the entire grow, however while integrating into flower she will be transitioned from Maxi Grow to Maxi Bloom and Kool Bloom which is a 0-10-10 bloom booster will be added during flower and then transitioned to Dry Bloom in the last two weeks followed by up to a week of flush prior to harvest.
As I only have a total of 40" of usable vertical space from the top of my grow containers to 12" below my Medic Grow Spectrum X lights, I plan to use a combination of Topping (Most likely around the 6th node) as well as Low Stress Training to manage plant height as I will attempt to grow more of a bush than a tree. I am super excited to see what this monster light can do and am also interested to see what effect the UV/IR supplemental lighting will have on final THC content. Thanks for stopping by, safe safe and Blaze On! 💪

Hey now, hope everyone is having a great weekend. This Purple Punch didn't break soil until 4 days from getting wet. I ended up with a slightly mutated Purple Punch Seedling as she has 3 Cotyledons instead of 2. I have friends who have had this and they told me they turned out just fine yield and terp wise just really based more on the phenotype than the fact that it was genetically mutated. She is in a Solo Cup in ProMix/Perlite under the Spectrum X at 30% Power which is 230 Watts in V1 or Veg Mode. Very happy so far with the light as it is keeping all nodes tight and all leafs green and pointed upwards. I will also this Purple Punch's roots to fill the solo cup and then I will transplant her into a final 3.4 gallon airpot and hook her up to an auto feeding halo coming from a reservoir. When a plants roots are just fertigated in soil they are lacking in oxygen until some drying takes place. In Coco Coir, they have the perfect ratio of H20/Oxygen just after watering and as long as the Coir stays somewhat saturated. This is why high frequency fertigation pays off in coco coir. My plan is to top her one time by day 28 or so at the latest, or at least before she starts flowering, so whatever node that will be depends on her growth between now and then. Thanks for stopping by, be safe and Blaze On!

Hey now, hope everyone is having a great weekend! This week went pretty well for my genetically mutated little seedling. She's got leaves growing out at all different kinds of strange angles. I have never had a plant like this, but I decided to keep her and do my best and see what happens with her. Right now she is in a solo cup with a mixture of pro mix seedling starter and perlite and I am watering every other day with just plain water around the edges of the solo cup. I am hoping to have her transplanted by the end of this week, and she will be going into a 3.4 gallon airpot. After transplant she will immediately receive high frequency fertigation every 5 hours or so from lights on and also receive supplemental UV/IR lighting from this Medic Grow Spectrum X. She is currently receiving the V1 Spectrum at 30% which is the blue/veg spectrum.
I am planning to top her once but I don't know where yet as I don't know how she will grow, but hopefully around the 5th node. I will then just do LST to try and keep a level canopy and see what happens with her. If anyone has ever grown something like this hit me up and let me know how it turned out.
Thanks for stopping by, stay safe, and Blaze On! 💪

Week 3 went ok for this little twisted genetic mutation. She is still growing strong albeit a little bit slow. I did transplant her on day 17 and she responded very well. I now have the Spectrum X light at 60% pwer in V1 spectrum and all the ladies are happy with super tight nodes. She is feeding on Silica, Cal Mag, and GH maxi gro nutrients and she gets fed 4 times per day only a small amount fed through a halo feeding system on a timer. I am hoping to top her in the next week, but if she doesn's start growing faster this week I may not even top her and see if I can keep her short through LST only. Hey now hope everyone is having a great weekend. This little lady is still growing kinda slow and mutated, she only has one chute growing from every few nodes instead of two at every node. I will probably not top her due to this and slower growth, but I am still hoping to get some nice flowers from her. She is still getting the V1 Spectrum from this Spectrum X LEd and is feeding on silica, cal mag, and maxi gro veg nutes.
I will just start some LST this week probably and see what happens with her. She is definitely not going to be the biggest yielder but hopefully the nugs are amazing.

Hey now, I hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend. This little deformed lady is still going fairly strong, she is not growing quite as fast as the other two autos in the tent, but I think she could still put out some nice flowers. I am still feeding her silica, cal mag, and just veg nutrients. I did top her yesterday on day 34 as she is still not showing many pre flowers, so I just topped her so she doesn't get too tall. I have not done much LST on her yet but I may do some this week.
I did change the Medic grow spectrum to the F1 spectrum this week which is the flower spectrum. I am also running the UV/IR bar for about 75 minutes every day before lights off, and I now have the light cranked up to 100%. I will start to transition to flower nutrients probably next week, depending on how tall she gets and how soon she transitions to flower production.
Not much to do this week except keep the reservoir clean, full, and in the proper PH range. If any colas get crazy higher than the others I will correct, but other than that she can do her thing from here on out.

Hey now, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. This was a good week for the Purple Punch, she really started to stretch and grew 14 inches in the last 7 days. I did start transitioning her from veg to flower nutrients yesterday. She is now feeding on Silica, Cal Mag, and 50/50 veg and flower nutrients.
She has 3 shoots coming off some nodes and only one coming off other nodes. This is the first genetically mutated cannabis plant that I have grown so we will see what happens.
The Medic grow light is now running at 100% in F1 Flower mode and I am also integrating the UV/IR bar for approximately 90 minutes per day just before lights off. I will continue to transition her to flower nutrients over the week and by next week at this time all three ladies will be feeding from the same reservoir with Silica, Cal Mag, Maxi Bloom, and Liquid Kool Bloom which is a PK booster. I keep the PH in the reservoir between 5.5 and 6.5 and prefer fluctuations between this range as some nutrients uptake better at different PH's within this range.
I will probably do one last light defoliation in the next couple of days and that will be about it other than keeping the reservoir full and in the correct PH range. The tomatoes outside are absolutely loving the runoff from these autos, as that is all they have had to drink since they were about 3 weeks old.

Hey now, I hope everyone is having a pleasant weekend. This little lady keeps chugging along, by far the smallest of the three, she is also a very sensitive feeder compared to the other two as the tips of her leaves got burned when I allowed the EC to creep up a little high in the reservoir by the end of the week, she got all the way up to 1.6 and that was a little too much for her and started affecting her leaves.
I currently have the Spectrum X running at 100% power and have upped the time on the UV/IR bars to 90 minutes just prior to lights off. I am super happy with this light so far, she puts out impressive PAR, and runs fairly cool. The only thing I would change is to have individual timers for the different spectrums.

Hey now, I hope everyone is having a great weekend, and happy fathers day to all the dads. This lady is still chugging along, she is feeding the same nutrients as the Glueberry OG at this point which is just cal mag, maxibloom, and a PK booster. I am starting to question if I should have kept her as she started out deformed and with extra leaves and half nodes etc, but I wanted to see how it would turn out. In the future I doubt I will grow one like this again, as she has really struggled at times and is just not growing nearly as aggressively as I am used to.
The light is now set on 100% and I am running the UV/IR bar for 120 minutes per day just before lights out. I also placed this lady on a milk crate to raise her canopy even with the Glueberry OG and the Strawnana.

Hey now, hope everyone is having a safe weekend. The Purple Punch is still chugging along, she will be the lowest yielding plant I have ever grown but I wanted to see what happened either way. She is still feeding on cal mag, maxi bloom, and Liquid Kool Bloom. I will transition her to the dry Kool Bloom probably sometime this week as I believe she is about 3 weeks or so from harvest. I am planning to harvest her around 10th of July time frame, and then I will start a few photo period mainlines for my next run.

Hey now, hope everyone is having a great weekend. This lady is still coming along, ,and her flowers are definitely starting to ripen as I have seen a couple amber trichomes on her today and yesterday. I decided to start flushing her today, and she will be flushed for 6 days until next Saturday when we chop her down.
The weather is staying very hot and humid in my region, so I am ready to chop this grow and then I will wait to start my next run until mid August, so by the time flowering starts it will be much cooler Fall temperatures.
I am still running the Medic Grow Spectrum X at 100% in the F1 mode and running the UV/IR bar for 120 minutes prior to lights off. So far I am super pleased with this light, for the amount of PAR she puts out, she definitely runs cool comparatively to other LED's.

This plant struggled out of the gate, she was mutated with 3 Cotyledons nstead of 2, but I decided to run her anyways. This will be the smallest auto I have ever grown, but the buds smell very fruity and if I get 3 or 3 zips I will be happier than a pig in shit and call it a day. I will post an update once the buds are dried are cured.
