Medusa F1 2/5
This plant will be subjected to LST + topping, and will be compared with the LST on it's own.
Check my first grow 1/5 to see the experiment
Sunday 31st of April in water, it already sank to the bottom on the end of the day and therefore, it was placed in a paper towel.
On Tuesday 2nd of May, the germinated seed was put in Canna Terra soil, 15 litre pot with mycorrhiza and rhizobacter.
Friday 5th of May, the cotyledons reached out of the soil
I only have the plant some tapwater with a spray daily and about 300 mL on day 7.
I will probably top at node 5 or 6. This will probably be next week.
The conditions in the tent are reaching in the 30 degrees, so a CO2 bag is bought and an airco willl be installed. Updates coming soon and tips are welcome
2/5 medusa grew very fast this week. This one might even grows faster than 1/5.
The plant received its first 1/8 dosage of nutrients.
I also topped at node 5 on day 13 (see picture). I never topped an auto as soons as this strain but due to the rapid growth I think it can handle it.
Im curious to see how fast the recovery period is.
2/5 is looking amazing already, topping the plant really forces the plant to grow with a wide canopy. I think this plant will already produce more shoots than 1/5
It started to show white pistils at day 19, which is one day later than 1/5. The genetics really show amazing uniformity and consistent growth. They really feel like clones.
I started giving 1/8 dosage nutrients and I reduced the amount of nitrogen compared to 1/5. Im always learning along the way. Each strain is different.
I will start LST the upcoming week probably.
Pre-flower week. It grew insanely fast this week. It seems that the topping really works well with this strain.
I removed some leaves and the 2 smallest shoots from the 1st node.
I also tied the side branches down.
I will probably adjust lamp distance a bit further next week.
2/5 is insanely big for day 35.
It has many shoots and im debating whether or not i should lollipop this plant, what do you guys reckon?
Flowering mode has really begun this week, extra shoot production stopped and more and more pistils are forming. The stretching has also stopped.
I really think topping is the way to go for these genetics, with this short veg time. Or my LST is just bad and i should do it differently.
Still watering 3L of water every 2/3 days.
Let's see those buds form😍. Way to go RQS for this record holding autoflowering seed to harvest time.
Medusa 2/5 also suffered from the heat & drought stress. Neverthless, the issue is fixed.
From now on the buds will start to grow bigger.
The plant almost requires a watering every 2 days.
Let's keep the temps down and see how she turns out
Medusa 2/5 is starting to get fatter.
I decided to Lollipop and remove the lower growth. Im curious to compare the colas and see if lollipopping really increases bud size.
This plant really grows beautifully, two main colas in top from the topping, and all the other colas around the two main colas.
I started giving green sensation PK booster this week
I reckon another 4 weeks before harvest.
The last weeks of medusa 2/5 are coming up. She is a beautiful uniform canopy with 2 main colas.
No problems so far. Still giving half dosage nutes. Since medusa 1/5 displayed a 'second bud growth period', I will wait a bit long before starting to climb down the ladder of reducing the nute dosage.
Interestingly, the buds at the end of week 8 in medusa 1/5 had further developed flowers with orange pistils already, which this lady does not have yet. Meaning, the developmental stage of the buds in day 56 in medusa 1/5 look more mature.
Anybody have an explanation and know what im talking about and why this difference is observed, especially because these are F1's
The end of medusa 2/5 is also getting closer.
I will probably start lowering the nutes from now on. Securing a smooth finish.
She is turning out beautifull, defoliation and topping she can take it all! Even a lollipop.
She really is getting fatter and is bigger than medusa 1/5, which only had LST.
Medusa 2/5 is still getting heavier and the branches are falling down. I Will still wait longer and let her get fatter but I am starting to reduce the nutrients from now on bit by bit.
The topping and LST really worked out perfectly and I recommend it to others.
Im not quite sure the Lollipopping really increases the fatness compared to medusa 1/5 but who knows, she still has 2 or 3 weeks.
Medusa F1 2/5 is almost ready.
I am continouing with reducing the nutrients every week.
I noticed the yellowing of the leaves is really showing this week. I checked the trichomes but quite a few translucent were still present. I want her to ripe for longer.
Branches are falling down due to the weight they are packing, these F1's are really packing a lot of weight when extending the grow time.
Although the main cola was not as packed as medusa 1/5, she has way more shoots and two main colas.
Harvest is around the corner for Medusa 2/5
I reduced the amount of nutrients given and she is fading beautifully! Nice and even fade.
I still havent seen any amber trichomes, which I am aiming for.
The branches cant support their own weight and ties and bamboosticks were placed helping with staying in place.
The main cola was not as fat as Medusa 1/5 but she sure is packed with flowers and still slowly produces a little more calyxes.
The final week of the second Medus F1 Hybrid. I noticed the trichomes are becoming more amber so I will probably harvest tomorrow on day 92.
I only fed her little nutrients this week and she is fading beautifully. All leaves are turning yellow and the branches are falling over because of the amount of weight they are packing.
Leaves do have a bit of a claw effect at the top but I am sure i havent overwatered them, any suggestions? Also some browing on the leaves and tips maybe from too much heat or light?
This phenotype smells a little bit sweeter in comparison to my first Medusa F1 hybrid (1/5).
Stay tuned for the harvest tomorrow! Please also check the progress of my other Medusa F1 Hybrids.
Medusa F1 Hybrid 2/5 is harvested. I decided to cut her down after seeing more amber trichomes appearing. The branches were also struggling with supporting their own weight. Even the lower popcorn buds look quite big and compact.
Receiving a topping at node 5 resulted in two big main cola's with big fat compact buds. She is definitely bigger and will yield more than my Medusa plant which were subjected to only LST. When growing these I would recommend topping them if you want to try and do the topping at node 6 or 7 would be better.
She smells sweeter compared to my first Medusa F1 1/5 which i harvested. I have not smoked these flowers yet and will do so after a 2-3 week dry and 2 weeks of curing in my jars. The first Medusa plant I harvested is already in jars for a single week and it already smells less of hay/grass. Updates will follow.
She really took the nutrients well and I always used half or less of the recommended dosage.
Stay tuned for the dry weight and smoke review in a couple weeks!
My other Medusa F1 strains are also coming out nicely, especially number 4/5. Please check the progress and any questions asked I would love to answer.
