Started in germination dome with Roots Organics direct to soil. Kept moist and heating pad set to low to keep at ~75F and 85RH. Some seed husks needed help coming off with sterilized tweezers. Seem to be taking off. Using an RQS Royal Gorilla to compare vigor to these IHG beans. Lowered light to stop legginess
Corrected legginess by moving light slightly closer and confirming appropriate ppfd. Regretted using soil cells as starters. Very difficult to transplant in my opinion
All transplanted to 7 gallon pots using Roots and Natures Living soil using supersoil technique. PKBR seemed to really dislike transplant but is doing fine. Using Dynomyco granules at base of each transplant hole
Topped at 4th node for all plants right before lights out. Bounced back beautifully full speed ahead. PKBR is looking more vigorous, but definitely much larger intermodal spacing than the rest causing it to be slightly larger than Royal Jelly and Slurricane #7
7/7/23
Amazing how much a week can make with these genetics. They have all gone under additional toppings of main and side branches, LST with twist ties/green tie, and defoliation of lower branches/large fan leaves. All plants are responding with vigorous growth. No sign of pests or disease. Moved lights to 18 inches above canopy, increased intensity to get ~500 ppfd per Photone app with diffuser. Installed additional dehumidifier in lung room. Cleaned air purifier in lung room. Swapped T6 for T8 in-line exhaust. Readjusted high CFM bars in tent to adjust to increased negative pressure. Adjusted oscillating fans below and above canopy.
First day of Week 7 (7/8/23) at least 2 clones were cut from each plant to be rooted.
7/14/23
Flipped light cycle 7/12/23, at 6.5 week mark. Removed LST tie downs as canopy space is now filled. Heavy defoliation of lower 1/3 of plants just before flipping, defoliating more after a couple more days to maximize tops exposure to light. Cuttings appear happy, no roots yet. Installed whole house air purifier for lung room (basement). Added additional inlet ducting to reduce negative pressure from inline fan.
Flipped to 12-12 at just under 7 week mark as I ran out of canopy space. Plants are growing beautifully no issues thus far. Began using compost tea as well as a mostly clover based cover crop. Rotating plants daily to get even growth of tops that might be crowded.
End of week 9: 7/27
Royal Jelly and PKBR are big stretchers. Slurricane #7 seems to be much bushier so have had to elevate with additional drainage container to keep canopy somewhat even. Removed lower third of branches. Fairly heavy defoliations to keep tops exposed to light. All have responded beautifully. All are most definitely female as well. Excited to see these start to really bulk up
Defoliating more often than expected, plants just fill in the canopy so quick this run. Slurricane didn’t stretch much and stayed on the shorter side overall so I elevated them with a riser underneath the middle two pots. Royal Jelly and PKBR easily doubled in height during stretch bringing them to a little over 3 ft. Heavy water need during the stretch for those two so I made sure to avoid overwatering the Slurricanes which were gentler sippers.
All phenos were successfully cloned (my first attempt at cloning). Kept them in the humidity dome sitting longer than I would’ve liked before up-potting but I realized most of my clones were cut too long and were getting strangled from growing by the dome. In the future, ill take my cuts shorter and be ready to up-pot after about 2 weeks
PKBR #2 is showing a couple leaves of what appears to be cal mag issues + senescence fading. I expect I’ll be able to ride it out til finish. It also happens to be the best smelling pheno in the tent at the moment. Drinking has slowed down as stretching ends. Stopped defoliating in any significance after day 21 of flower to minimize herm risks. So far everyone looks happy and healthy
Week 11end = 8/10
