it's a bit worrisome it is on the new growth.
genetic or disease? good chance it grows inferior buds, in my experience. you can assess it better than i can in a picture. usually those 'bad' apples aren't as robust foliage or grow a bit slower... if it'd just be an empty space you might as well keep growing it though.
At this point i wouldn't be certain about it being a dud. if node spacing and growth rate is good, migh as well go with it, but any other coinciding red flags, i'd re-focus on other plants and let this one go. i've tried to salvage ugle plants in the past and rarely felt the effort was worth it. a selfed garlic storm recently fit that description. i had another with funky leaves that was a piece of shit too. usually this sort of stuff goes away with newer growth. that early stuff can be belemished, so be patient while you can.
