First off, a shout-out to Heather from 42FastBuds for sending me these awesome seeds (and a massive goodie bag). I decided to start with Gorilla Cookies Auto because of it's massive yields and trichrome production. Since I fell in love with rosin, this strain can potentially create some knock-out rosin 👊
Germination was blazing fast. Within 2 days the seed sprouted and starting it's journey to maturity. The first steps of the grow will be in my GTools growbox, and after she develops the first three nodes I will move her to my greenhouse. This is my first 42FastBuds strain so I'm really excited to see how this lady develops!
Mid week update: The seedling grows very fast, I turned on the fan in de growbox to provide a small breeze to help her develop a nice and strong stem
To wrap up this first germination week I have to say I'm happy with the progress sofar! This lady stretched quite a bit after she shook off her shell, but now she's standing strong. I lowered the 135W Sanlight from 50cm to 30cm above the seedlings and dimmed it to 40%. This stopped the stretching and she is now growing some nice fanleaves.
The seedling has stretched quite a bit. I worried for a second, but at the start of this week she stopped stretching and her fanleaves are growing larger each day. The stem is a bit thin, but the fan, which is on 50% of the time, should train her to develop a strong stem. At the end of this week I will move her to her final 11L pot inside the greenhouse where she can enjoy the sunlight!
Today (Thursday) I decided to move the Gorilla Cookies Auto seedling to the greenhouse and her final 11 Liter pot. To make the transition as smooth as possible I used an empty paper cup to make an imprint in the final pot, carefully cut away the paper cup that holds the seedling and slide her in the potting hole. No stress 😇. She already developed a nice root system in her first week after germination! Also very happy with her amazing growth sofar and she looks really healthy!
I added some Mycorrhiza and Bactrex to help her grow and develop healthy roots. The windows of the greenhouse are now closed to protect her from the weather for a couple of days. Let's see how she likes her new environment!
After the first night in the greenhouse she shows no signs of stress at all. Leaves are raised to the sky, looking happy in her new pot.
At the end of week 1 I'm happy on how fast this lady is growing! Even though she receives less light compared to the G-Tools growbox (which has a 20/4 schedule) there is no stagnation in growth. Really good genetics going on here.
The last few days the Gorilla Cookies is growing faster than before. She looks healthy and happy in the greenhouse. Not much to say for now. It's too early to start training, but I will update photos daily to keep you up-to-speed!
After two weeks of blazing fast growth the Gorilla Cookies is now taking time to develop some side branches. At first I was worried the plant was over stretching, but a friend who grows the same strain in a DWC had the same experience. And seeing what monster she can become eventually she needs long and strong branches to support the weight of the buds. So all is well, the leaves look really healthy and green.
This week the Gorilla Cookies has grown taller and stronger. There are even early signs of blooming, tiny hairs showing in the nodes.
The Gorilla Cookies looks better every day. The leafs have a healthy green color and pointing upward which is a very good sign that she's happy. I'll post more pics and comments in the coming days.
The Gorilla Cookies is turning into an impressive young lady. Even though she has an 11L pot, the growth rate is amazing. The bloom is setting in slowly, there are some white pistils visible but no buds just yet.
At the second half of week 5 I'm seeing the first few buds appearing. The plant is really impressive to watch. I'm easing up on the bloom nutrients as the top leafs have yellow tips which could be nutrient burn. Just water and Bio Tabs for the next couple of days and I hope she'll be fine 😇
The Gorilla Cookies is becoming a real monsterplant. Even though I only have a 11L pot, she is really big. The buds started forming a bit later compared to some other strains in the greenhouse but boy was it worth the wait 😊 More pics and updates will be posted as the week progresses!
The Gorilla Cookies is looking healthy and strong! She is growing more buds each day and there is already a nice layer of trichromes covering the buds and fanleafs. More updates will follow as the week progresses!
The Gorilla Cookies has turned out to be a beautiful and impressive lady! Vertical growth has stopped and now the buds are growing like crazy. She doesn't ask for much, and looks healthy. I water her once a day, sometimes twice if the temperature is too high. It's a joy to look at every morning!
The Gorilla Cookies is almost ready for harvest. Trichromes are 80% milky and the buds are looking nice and frosty! I had some budrot on another plant in the greenhouse, so I placed a fan to provide her with a nice breeze. Let's see if we can keep this lady free of mould until harvest. The smell is really distinct and has indeed a herby, cookie aroma which is really nice.
After a tip from @nonick I decided to wait a few weeks until harvest. The plant does need some additional support though, as the main cola is getting heavier by the day. I solved this by adding a clip to the top of my greenhouse and some rubber wire to support the main cola. For airflow I used my Dyson airblade for a premium breeze in the greenhouse.
The Gorilla Cookies is producing trichromes like crazy. The buds are shining with white christals in the summer sun. It looks like this will be a good strain for bubblehash rosin. I will deep freeze at least part of it when it's ready, but also keep a few buds for vaping. The trichromes are not all cloudy so it needs at least this week before it's ready for harvest. The cookie/herb smell is also gettng more intense by the day. Especially in the night time the smell is really strong.
This was an exciting grow! The Gorilla Cookies grew very well in the greenhouse and was very resistant to pests and mould. It grew beautiful resin covered buds with a wonderful smell. Shoutout to @nonick for advising to harvest later than I planned. The yield was so much better because of it.
I immediately deep froze half of the buds to make bubble hash and live resin. To prevent the trichromes from sticking to the sealbag I put a double sheet of parchment paper in the sealbag. This will hopefully make sure no trichromes are lost when making the bubble hash. The rest, including the main cola has been wet trimmed and are drying in the dry tent. The wet weight of the harvest was 750 grams which is more than I expected.
The first vape of the scissor hash gave me a good first impression of the taste and effect. The taste was a mix of earth tones at first, followed by a herbs and finishing with citrus. It's quite different from other strains I grew up until now. The high was an active head high, followed by a mellow body stone. Not too much, making this a great strain for the end of my work day.
