Start - 5/30/23
Few drops of h2o2 in a cup of purified water for ~40hrs.
Placed in paper towel once seed cracked then placed in peat pellets once tap roots were about 2cm long.
6/1/23 (Day 1) - Once tap root emerged (roughly 24hrs later), planted in peat pellets.
6/2/23 (Day 2) - Wasn't happy with the quality of the peat so I re-planted in a COM organic soil mix (2:3 COM Stonington Blend/COM Aeration Mix) after about 18hrs in the pellet.
The longest tap root had grown significantly but was growing sideways (possibly caused by the density of the pellet). The other was still only cracked with the tap root barely unfolded. Hopefully just a slow grower.
6/3/23 (Day 3) - First sprout emerges, the seedling with the stronger tap root. Will be labeled #1.
Weaker seed still underground. Will label #2.
6/7/23 (Day 7) - Good news is the second seed finally sprouted. Bad news is my golden Zeus knocked over the tray. #1 managed to stay rooted and I managed to save and replant 3 of 4 seedlings. Will have to see if they were shocked or not. Never dropped a seedling before but taproots looked strong. Placed in the tent under the KS3000 at 50% at around 26" height.
6/10/23 (Day 10) - Second set of leaves grown. 3rd set just starting
6/11/23 (Day 11) - 3rd set of leaves growing strong. Going to transplant it into a 3gal tomorrow.
6/12/23 (Day 12) - Transplanted in 3gal with mycorrhizae treated into soil/roots. 3rd set of leaves growing nicely. 2nd set still filling in.
6/14/23 (Day 14) - Drooping hard from the mineral deficiencies and possible root shock. Switching to straight tap water
6/16/23 (Day 16) - Still drooping and getting a bit worse. Suspected mineral deficiencies from using filtered water (Switched to tap couple days ago) and possible root shock from transplant
6/18/23 (Day 18) - Leaves are basically straight vertical at the stem. Added about 6ml of axolotl shit water from the axolotl aquarium just to see
6/19/23 (Day 19) - After almost giving up on her, she starts perking up again. Maybe it was the axolotl shit? Probably won't be any kind of significant yield but will keep her just for her will power
6/21/23 (Day 21) - Recovering steadily. Not sure if yield will be any good but impressed with the sturdiness of this one.
6/22/23 (Day 22) - Added some Recharge and watered top soil with.
6/27/23 (Day 27) - Bounced back a bit
6/28/23 (Day 28) - Starting to sex and show pistils. Trying a lityle bit of LST
6/29/23 (Day 29) - Top dressed with 1/8 cup of COM Stonington Organic Plant Food. Think it could do with more next time around.
6/30/23 (Day 30) - Pistils showing nicely
7/1/23 (Day 31) - LST seems like it's going well
7/2/23 (Day 32) - Watered with about 800ml of Recharge water mix
First time growing autos, should I be defoliating about now? She's gone through a bit of stress already and wasn't sure if defoliation would cause additional unwanted stress for an auto. Was wondering if maybe wait to see if she gets any taller?
Defoliation of autos is a no no, they're on a clock and do not need added stress from recuperating from a defoliation, if it takes 2 days to recuperate, that's 2 days lost to adding growth. Unless there's a major issue, such as damp leaves touching soil I wouldn't touch them and I've grown some massive autos in my days. Just let time do it's thing and a bit of LST to open stuff up and let them thrive.
doesn't need defo.
if any leaves are touching the dirt, i wouldn't remove the entire leaf. just snip off enough so that it doesn't rest on the dirt.
you can raise light a bit if you want longer internodes (distance between growth nodes) .. if nodes are a good spacing, don't do this, but this would give it more height.
From past experience at your current stage I would recommend minimal defoliation. You need the root mass below to grow as much as possible . Let her grow out a little or take the odd leaf off if it's in the way. You want minimal stress or you will hinder the root mass below. Bigger roots bigger fruits ✌️
By skimming thru your past weeks it doesn’t look like you’re in week 5 of flower. I could be wrong but I would bet you’re only about week 3 or so. Just a thought. Looks good for an autoflower IMO.
@FrontRowAG_BrianG, I know it's an old comment, but for anyone searching, this ended up being a slow grower and took an additional 4 weeks or so to fully mature (85-90 day total grow time), if I remember correctly. It turned out great, a bit small size-wise but wasn't expecting much from my first true auto run (and first run in over 5 years) and being a tester strain. The nug quality came out awesome and I didn't get it tested but definitely hit hard.
