*Update* June 3rd Added new photos of each seedling. They are standing tall and have shed their shells completely! May 28th was the day I began germination by placing seeds into a small cup of water. I let them sit in the cup of water in a cupboard for at least 24hrs. May 29th The next step is to pour the seeds onto a folded paper towel on a plate and arrange them 1”-2” apart. I Let that sit for 24hrs in darkness. May 30th tap roots showed so I gently placed seeds into red solo cups filled with my coco/perlite mix that I pre watered with just tap water. May 31st I noticed them starting to appear just at the top of the coco. June 1st we have a 100% successful germination as each one has sprouted above the coco.

Smooth first week. I just used tap water and spoon fed about 3 Tbsp of water per seedling, no nutrients until today I added 1/4 tsp of the flora series to about a gallon of water along with 1/2 tsp of Calmag. PH was 5.86 when I watered. Let’s go Triple G!

It’s been a few weeks since I posted an update. I have been busy with the previous grows harvest and i have been lazy. The plants looked strange a couple of weeks ago so I placed a fan on them and didn’t water for about 8 days. When I thought for sure they were goners I simply gave them a fresh watering and they began to explode in growth. So I am extremely happy that they remained resilient and are still pushing strong. One of the seven had been dropped from the deck but still managed to stay alive. I had some soil laying around so I transplanted that one into a 3g fabric pot using frogfarm soil??? I think??? I’ll update later with some pics but the plant looks beautiful and is loving her new home. The other 6 will be transplanted into their final home tomorrow.

Just a few days ago I decided to top these ladies. I usually allow about 5-7 days for recovery and then I will start LST. I’ll begin by bending the main stalk down to its side and tie it to the edge of the fabric pot. I do this so that the lower growth can grow up more and even out with the top of the main stalk of the plant as it finishes recovery from being topped. I noticed some yellowing and a slower growth so I upped my nutrients, especially the flora gro. The plants looked incredibly better within a few hours!

I decided to just let these ladies chill after topping rather than jumping straight into LST like I mentioned last week. I’m glad I did wait to do LST because they look so dang beautiful right now. Very green and looking really healthy right now, let’s keep it that way 🤞 I’m wondering if I should even do LST this time around…

I’ve skipped LST so far this grow. I did get a good defoliation in during the week and the ladies are looking amazing! Very nice growth and will be ready for a trellis net soon.

Explosive growth this week, so much so that I think they got a little bigger than I expected. My trellis net finally showed up so I was able to set the ScrOG up nicely. I’ll let the ladies adjust this week to being in the net and next weekend I’ll do a defoliation and remove some of the weaker sucker branches. Those can be turned into clones because I really like this strain so far. Very easy to grow and maintain and pretty resilient to stress.

The first 2 sets of pictures are comparisons from last week to this week. It’s amazing how effective it is to do a screen of green. It’s pretty incredible how these plants adapt and bounce back. I started to do a defoliation yesterday and each day I will work on each plant picking off leaves and sucker branches until next week. I think next week will be a good time to switch the lights to a 12/12 schedule and begin flowering.

Starting Flowering this week, lights changed to 12/12 starting 8/14/23, expected harvest in 60-70 days! Noticing some discoloration of on some leaf edges. Not all are affected by this so far and my initial thought is nutrient burn. My PH was a little high on one of my waterings (about 6.1-6.2 maybe higher) and I was in a rush to get some water on them. I also had added a little extra nutrients last week just to see how far I could push them. When I noticed the color changes I decided to dilute my remaining 10 gallons by adding another 10 gallons of plain tap water and adjusting the PH to 5.8. After refilling the trash can (reservoir) with 36 gallons of fresh tap water I then reduced my nutrient solution to what I had it at just before the color changes. My PH pen was giving me weird numbers so I recalibrated it, seems it was off by about +.30 which is pretty significant. Keep your pens calibrated! I did want to mention that the discoloration may have been from stress. I spent time removing leaves and lower sucker branches from each plant, almost everything below the net. I did this spontaneously throughout the week instead of just getting it all done at once. Because of this I may have caused too much stress! The thought is that while the plant is trying to recover and heal, I am continually damaging it throughout this process. Not allowing the plant to fully heal before damaging it more. Kind of a high stress method but executed wrong. The proper way to do this would be to just get it done all at once so that afterwards the plant can heal all at once. Last but not least, I want to give a shout out to Royal Queen Seeds and their amazing strains! Their seeds germinate extremely well, the selection of strains is incredible, and the genetics are top notch. This Triple G strain is really resistant to stress and the growth is fast! I’m so excited for the harvest! You can get seeds from Royal Queen Seeds with a discount using this coupon promo code: GROWERS20

Officially finished the first week of flowering! These ladies look strong and beautiful and the growth is outstanding! I am extremely happy with the current results. I turned on my 3rd middle light that isn’t as strong as my initial 2, just gotta watch the heat, so far so good. Trying to give these girls a bit of a boost, also going to have to watch the girls for any light or heat stress. Wish me luck!

I missed last weeks update because I was terribly busy but I posted some photos from just about every other day or so to show progress. Slightly lowered nutrients because they look a little burnt. May do a good flush in the coming week. I Went ahead and gave them a nice defoliation and really opened them up for better airflow. I took care of a lot of sucker branches and the ladies bounced back immediately which is a good sign. Now they can focus most of their energy on the main branches for bigger buds! I’m thinking it’s gonna be about a 9 or 10 weeks of flowering before they are ready for harvest. So about 6-7 weeks remaining and I am super excited!

I’m not really sure what’s going on this week. As you can see in the pics there is some rusting/browning and yellowing of the leaves. I’ve checked for pests and see no signs. The heat hasn’t been too crazy never above 85F but the humidity has been on the high side. It’s been around 60-70% RH especially after waterings so I’ve been leaving the tent open for majority of the day until just before the lights go off. I’ve also put a large dehumidifier in the same room as the tent. So far these things have been helping. My PH has been between 5.7-5.9 each watering and I haven’t changed nutrient amounts. I thought maybe it was a ph issue but I checked my pens and they are fine so then maybe nutrient burn? The tips were showing signs of “nutrient burn” a few weeks ago so I adjusted nutrient levels appropriately. But maybe that didn’t fix the issue. Now I’ve decided to flush them this weekend to hopefully “reset” these ladies. Using my usual tap water and lowering the nutrients to about a 1/4 of the recommended strength. I PH Balanced to 5.8 and gave them a really good deep full watering on two occasions now, Friday and Sunday. Hopefully this helps because it is still pretty early in the flowering stage and I don’t want to hurt the harvest. The only other potential cause for the issue might be from stress from being too close the lights and from the heavy defoliation last week. Other than that, the growth is still pretty good, although I think it has slowed some. I can definitely see these ladies filling the space back up with more leaves. I think I might need lights underneath to really help with the penetration, hopefully give the quantity a nice boost.

Wow what a terrible couple of weeks. I think I finally corrected the nutrient burn, now I just need to get rid of all the dead/dying leaves again. I noticed terrible bud production on quite a few of the plants and some looking a little droopy and wilted, more yellowing, buds not forming. Lots of weird things going on. I’ve been watering every other day and the coco is staying moist. PH going in is about 5.7 and coming out around 5.65. Ppm is 849 now. But here’s the kicker… my wifi outlet that controls my lights! I discovered that my lights were turning on way sooner than I thought or maybe not even turning off at all! And who knows for how long either! A week? The past 2 weeks? How long have these ladies been out of a 12/12 schedule?! They have probably been trying to reveg themselves! This is so bad! Good news is though that we are back on schedule and back on track and we will keep pushing on! Use code GROWERS20 at Royal Queen Seeds for 20% off everything!

Another rough week for these ladies. Shortly after discovering the light schedule was messed up and then getting that fixed I later found that I did indeed have a pest. The dreaded Spider Mites! There’s only one thing to do at this point, fight back as hard as you can. I spent 6 hours today pruning and trimming as much as I could and possibly more than I should have. I then sprayed every single bit of plant material with peroxide until each plant was sufficiently drenched. I will spray them one more time with peroxide the next day to hopefully get anything I missed. Once that’s dry I will follow up with some neem oil and use that about twice this week. Hopefully these ladies recover and still give me a good harvest.

Thank the Lord these ladies are recovering nicely after such a horrible few weeks. I’m finally feeling hopeful again about this grow. They don’t look the prettiest right now but by the end they will look amazing. I’ve been growing for over 4 years now and I still learn new things with each grow. It’s all about overcoming any issues that arise, don’t panic, do research, remain consistent, and follow through. That’s my advice, hopefully this helps others along the journey.
