Triple G is a hybrid and a cross between two powerhouse strains that have become household names in the cannabis community: Gorilla Glue and Gelato. An almost pure indica hybrid, Triple G is versatile in the grow room and can produce decent yields of potent, aromatic, and flavourful buds.
Thanks to its strong genetics, Triple G can be an equally exciting strain to cultivate for experienced cannabis growers and beginners alike. For the latter, Triple G serves as an easy variety to grow, as even with little human intervention it produces some great bud. And for the former, it's the perfect stable strain that, given the right kind of conditions and love, produces big harvests of top-shelf weed.
TRIPLE G'S LINEAGE
Gorilla Glue is a renowned hybrid, originally bred by GG Seeds. It's the result of a three-way cross of Chem's Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel and is known for its high resin production and ridiculous potency. It can leave you literally glued to the couch after just a few hits!
Gorilla Glue (or more precisely, Gorilla Glue #4) is a very specific phenotype that first started getting major attention from the cannabis community after winning cannabis cups in Michigan and Los Angeles in 2014. And after winning the High Times Jamaican World Cup that same year, Gorilla Glue really rose to fame. Today, it's a highly sought-after strain all across North America and Europe.
Triple G's other parent, Gelato, is equally famous. Also known as Larry Bird, this hybrid is a collaboration between US breeders Cookie Fam and Sherbinskis, and a cross of their Thin Mint Cookies and Sunset Sherbert. The result is a super-fruity, potent hybrid that won the title of Leafly's strain of the year in 2018.
Gelato delivers a heavy-handed cerebral euphoria coupled with deep, full-body relaxation. It also boasts a rich aroma that's sweet, fruity and, you guessed it, somehow very reminiscent of rich gelato. With upwards of 18% THC, Gelato is extremely potent and it's easily capable of leaving you knocked out on the couch. If you've built up a bit of a tolerance, however, you'll enjoy this strain's combination of cerebral stimulation and physical relaxation.
EFFECTS, FLAVOURS, AND AROMAS OF TRIPLE G
Triple G is a very potent hybrid, producing up to 26% THC. Because of this, it's best enjoyed in small doses (1 toke at a time), even if you've got quite a tolerance and experience.
Triple G produces a very strong, energetic euphoria, even after just one or two hits. These effects can make you very alert and might even spark some creativity. If you've got a low tolerance for THC, however, Triple G might cause anxiety.
Over time, this intense, clear-headed high will subside into a mellower, long-lasting stone. This is the perfect strain for when you want a relaxing night in by yourself, writing, painting, drawing, composing, or enjoying your favourite movie or CD. The effects of Triple G can also be deeply introspective.
In terms of flavour and aroma, Triple G doesn't fall short either. This strain exudes quite a pungent aroma that blends spicy, herbal, and earthy notes, mixed with that unmistakable diesel aroma inherited from its Gorilla Glue parent. In terms of flavour, Triple G combines rich notes of chocolate, berries, and candy-like sweetness, making for a super smooth, enjoyable smoke.
GROWING TRIPLE G
Triple G is almost a pure indica and this really shines through in the grow room. These plants grow small in stature, with thick, dark green foliage. If you're growing indoors, you'll definitely want to trim them down regularly to make the most of your limited light. Because they are compact, Triple G's plants are easy to manage indoors, but they perform equally well under natural light. Outdoors, Triple G's compact size will also help you keep her hidden from prying eyes and allow for maximum discretion.
At flowering time, Triple G's plants will start growing thick, dense buds. Over time, they'll develop rich, sticky resin and get extremely bushy. While Triple G is a relatively easy strain to grow, it can develop bud rot or other fungal issues when growing in hot, humid, and poorly ventilated spaces, so be extra cautious.
If you're an experienced grower, try trimming, topping, and training your plants early on, to ensure all their bud sites get equal light and come harvest time, you'll be rewarded with some top-shelf flower. But even if you lack experience, Triple G's stellar lineage will ensure you harvest some great weed.
