Pistils coming in nicely as the plant begins to move its way into the 3rd week of flower, planning on defoliating some of the bigger fan leaves blocking the lower bud sites.
Really satisfied with how the plant is doing so far, making its way into 4 weeks of flower. As far as I can tell she hasn’t hermed on me(yet) and is extremely healthy, with buds beginning to swell. The aroma is becoming a little bit more distinct, and for my first grow I am very pleased with this strain’s genetics and ease to grow.
Temps are rising here and I am unable to cool the room that the grow tent is in with air conditioning… but despite this, with sufficient airflow throughout her canopy she seems to be thriving! I am extremely congested but I can still smell the buds when I open the tent, and the nugs so far seem to feel extremely dense.
Buds continue to swell as the plant heads into week 8 of flower… last feeding of Gaia green 2-8–4 & worm castings was top dressed into the soil and have been feeding plain water to her ever since.
Heading into week 8 of flower now, realized my tap water has been fluctuating between 7.0 and 8.0 pH, but despite this the plant looks great and the buds are continuing to swell. The larger colas are beginning to weigh down the stems against the side of the tent, so I have begun to tie them down for support. I am hoping next week she is ready to chop…. buds look amazing and smell is intoxicating.
Wasn’t planning on updating this diary until after the cure, but why not. She was harvested on August 10, and placed into an empty grow tent at 60F & 55% RH. By August 17, the outer buds were dry enough, so I had used a wood moisture meter to measure the moisture content of the inner buds and they were ready to jar. I didn’t measure wet weight as I hung the entire plant whole and didn’t want to account for the weight of stems & fan leaves on the plant, but dry weight was 90.45 grams For my first grow, I don’t know if I did everything right… I will know by the end of cure, but so far I am more than content with the way she turned out. I have another Bourbon Berry Twenty20 outdoor grow I might post on here soon which is currently curing, & Chocolate Haze by RQS which is in week 2 of flower.
Overall I am happy with the way my first grow turned out. Encountered a bit of issues in veg but I think that was user error and not at fault of the genetics. Medium used was pro mix hp, fed tap water which I honestly did not even pH during flower. I tested it near harvest and noticed the water was coming out close to 8.0 🤣. Despite this the soil seemed to have buffered it, and the plant finished strong. Final dry weight was 90.45 grams, with the gassy aroma of grapes, vanilla/coffee, and citrus filling your nostrils after opening the jar post cure. I definitely could have done better with the dry, as I believe I had a fan pointed directly at the buds. This may have messed with the potency or the terps a bit… but there is room for improvement with future grows. I harvested with all milky trichs, with very few amber tips scattered throughout. The smoke produces a quick head euphoria, along with a sense of energy, perfect for daytime use. Then the GDP genetics kick in about an hour or so later, numbing the body & putting you into a relaxing state. Got these seeds as a freebie on North Atlantic seeds website, didn’t expect much but the plant delivered.
Hey mate, don't think you have a cal mag issue there, speaking from experience it looks awfully like light burn more specifically your UV spectrum LEDs. Are you sure your 46cm away? Might be worth backing off the intensity a little. Your old leaves won't recover but new growth should hopefully not suffer the same fate. Just some friendly advice from someone who has made this mistake
@Aussiegreenthumb82, I am going to double check and measure the distance from the top leaf to the light to see if its 18", it should be about that though.
@Aussiegreenthumb82, I appreciate the response a lot... I was considering that as the problem at first, but wouldn't the leaves closest to the light be affected by this issue first? The fan leaves that are having the issue are in the middle of the plant
Not necessarily. It's caused by specific LEDs in the panel I.e. the ones that omit UV wavelength thus what matters is the path of this wavelength relative to position of the leaf. When I had the issue my plants were 15-20cm away from light but I'm running 100W viparspectra so yours more powerful.
@Aussiegreenthumb82, understood, i raised the light about 4 inches or about 10 cm hoping that will fix the issue :) thanks again for the advice , I believe the light I am running right now is 220W but it is running at 50% efficiency as directed by the manual during veg stage.
Hi.. sry, but I'm banned for 7hrs from answering Q/personal chat. But I can still comment
So, you've a muncher(s). We all get them. If I were seen an odd hole/tear, that's usually down to rapid growth. Vains get pult and you get a hole r 2. But, the edges of yours have white.. so, that's either damage by grower, (clearly not, r y would you be asking a q) or damage from something having a snack on your leaves.
Most probably at lights out. And when lights come on, they'll quickly move to somewhere dark. Your sub. Itsx nothing to really be worried about. All us indoor growers get them and 99% off the time. The suspect will just die of natural causes from the nutrients that we use. Especially if its synthetic or you can add silica
Some strains will be targeted more than others. Its not down to resistance or anything like that. (YOU'LL HEAR THAT) but, what a more resistant strain will stand with a shield and sword. It Jst means they can withstand attacks better.
But, some phenos give off a stronger leaf scent. And they tend to go for rid pungent ones. Its very minimal so much so. There's not much you can do. Nor should you bother. It's not an issue. Until its an issue. If the plants are suffering from it. Feel free to hit me up. And we'll tackle it.
Sry couldn't leave this in chat or your comment. Jst don't want you getting bad advice. There's a lot of numbs answering the Q, as it's a contest. Anyways
Good Growing
Silica will help build strong membrane walls in your plant. And it'll also make the munchers die and you'll have less holes. You could add sticky traps around your sub. But, chances of you catching just 1 r 2 are well, 0.
Sry about add on. If I edit to much. I get a comment ban. Feel free to mes me. And ban is lifted we can chat more if you like about it. Ways you can build up a plants defences
Unfortunately like all issues with the plant we love the hints she gives us could be multiple issues. Just keep it in mind and don't stress, apart from this overall your plant looks super healthy!! 👌
