Veg Week 2
Little problems followed after a total of 5 days without power. The girls got a little leggy and were transplanted at the beginning of this week. They showed droopy leaves and light green leaves. This told me immediately they were not accessing the available nutrients in the soil. Slurry tests from a few samples of the worse looking girls showed pretty good ppm in the soil, but the pH was in the 5s. This is much too low for the plants to access the nutrients they need with a calcium based nutrient line.
I performed a corrective flush with Herculean Harvest with a pH of 7. This will help raise the pH of the soil and the calcium in the Herc will bind with the nutrients in the soil, allowing the plants to take what they need. I’ve also been foliar spraying to help with the nitrogen deficiency.
The new growth has been much better. You can tell from the first couple of the stretchy nodes compared to the compact new green growth. No more droopy leaves and they are starting to green up. I’ll do some more slurry testing at the end of the week to see where we are at in the root zone.
