Well Cannafam I'm back with another diary. Granddaddy Purple has long been a favorite of mine but I've never grown it, until now.My friends over at Grower's Choice hooked me up with some seeds a few months back and of the 3 strains that they sent, Granddaddy Purple was one. I put 2 seeds in a glass of water and let them soak for 18 hours and than moved them to a paper towel, unfortunately after a few days only 1 of them popped but I'm cool with that and I'm just going to go with a much bigger pot size when I put them in their final planter. Granddaddy Purple is the perfect strain for me to grow indoors during the summer time considering it can take and prefers a little bit more of a hotter temperature than a lot of other strains.
Well, Fam my 1st official week is in the books as of today. After a few days of being a seedling she started to sprout out nicely. I see that she's going to be very robust and leafy. I will differently need all of my grow space for this one because I'm gonna go with a big 5 or maybe 7 gallon pot this grow and in addition im gonna top her once, maybe twice. I will attempt to get her as big and beautiful as I possibly can lol.
Had an extremely successful week with this girl as you can see in my photos. She has grown a great deal over this past week. I will be transplanting her into a 5 gallon pot in the next couple of days because I don't want any root problems developing and I'm also just ready to start going to work with her as far as training and getting her where I want her to be before I send her into flower.
Transplanted her into a 5 gallon fabric pot not long after my last update and have since started giving her nutrients as well. I'm really loving the way that she's turning out and growing.
So far so good, Growmies. This past week has been great, she has grown twice the size as she was my last update and I've started some minor low stress training to grow out more bud sites. I've started giving her nutrients and I was originally going to top her but since this is my first time growing this strain I'm going to let her grow naturally aside from the lst because I wanna she how she naturally grows.
Yet another great week in the books now. All throughout this grow so far this girl has been very low maintenance and easy to take care of. She has responded very well to everything that I've thrown at her from the increase in nutrients to the low stress training. I'll likely be sending her into veg within the next week or two because she's already at this point a big girl and since I'm only dealing with a 2x2x4 grow space I don't want her to become to big but we'll see how her growth continues over the next week.
Hey, Growmies I hope all is well. I've had yet another problem free week with this Granddaddy Purple baddie lol. She's grown to be so big and vigorous over these past 5 weeks that I've decided to only go with 1 more week of veg before I send her into the flowering stage. If the flowering stage goes as well as the vegetative stage has and the bud is fire I will most definitely be growing this strain again and fortunately I have 3 more seeds left. She's now been in flower for a week, seems to be taking the transition well. I'm going to start her on Fox Farms Tiger Bloom flowering nutrients today when the lights come on.
Two weeks into flower now, not long after flipping her she started to show signs of calcium deficiency so I have to get her some calmag . She's grown very wide and tall in this short time of being in flower and I love it. Today I am switching out my 300 watt for my 600 watt LED. I've removed some of the huge fan leaves and cleaned up the bottom some but I need to do more, been lazy lol other than that all is going well. Since sending her into the flowering stage she has developed a slight calcium deficiency but I'm ordering some calmag in a couple of days to take care of that. She's starting to smell very berry smelling and developing trichomes all over her leaves.
Things still going well but I must say that in all of my 6 years of growing I've never dealt with a more tempermental strain that develope's nutrient issues so easily, dealt with the calcium deficiency but now im dealing with a magnesium one smh. She's getting frosty and smelling sweet though and I can't wait for her to be finished. If you'd like to try growing one of this girls yourself the link is on my previous update from last week.
Maturing very fast, think she might only need to go 8-8 ½ weeks perhaps. I want her buds to turn purple but I know that that doesn't always happen. She smells amazing and as you can see in the pictures she is hella frosty. If you'd like to try this strain out for yourself here is my affiliate link. https://www.growerschoiceseeds.com/ref/41
She's at a point now where I'm going to start flushing her after this update. She really developed very fast, thought I'd have to take her to 9 or 10 weeks like I do most of my grows but that's not the case with her. Her trichomes have developed nicely and her color is gorgeous to me and her smell is absolutely amazing.
