7/8-Placed seed in wet towel to soak
7/10-3BOG Placed seed in coco coir and it did not sprout after 7 days...the seeds are a year old so perhaps they went bad.. Decided to try 3 Bears Smile bonus seed I have grown previously
3 BEARS SMILE
7/17-3BS-Started germination in water...
7/19-3BS Seed in to coco in the tent
7/21-3BS sprouts
Week #2-July 28-Aug 3
7/28-Increased nutes slightly
7/29-3 nodes now. Looking good now.
7/30-4th node starting
8/1-5th node starting now. I'll let it develop for another 2-3 days and then top.
8/3-First 2 weeks have gone well. Good growth.
Week #3-Aug 4 to Aug 10
8/4-First 2 weeks went well. Topped between 4th and 5th node.
8/6-Plant seems to have handled the topping very well. Growth is great.
8/11-Good week of growth. Did some mild LST and trimming to shape the canopy. Looking good going into week 4.
Week #4-Aug 11 to Aug 17
8/13-Trimmed some leaves and did some LST to get the canopy open and growing wide. I think she is setup now to really grow nicely. The first time I grew the 3 Bears Smile I had a huge yield but the plant was a bit unwieldly. This time around I want to see if I can shape her a bit and concentrate on 7-8 big colas.
8/14-Increased nute load and did a bit more LST training a couple of the upper branches. Canopy should grow in now pretty even in height.
8/16-Trimmed a bit more to expose just the very top leaves prior to pre-flower. I'm trying to manage the canopy into 8 really large colas and less smaller buds on a bunch of branches. So far it looks like the plant is on track.
8/18-Did the last watering with Veg schedule. I see some early signs of preflower so I'll transition to bloom nutes. Right now the plant looks well setup for a nice even canopy of 8 colas.
Week #5-Aug 18 to Aug 24
8/19-We've got a nice even canopy going with 8 branches spreading nicely and starting to start skyward. Right now we are at 7 inches. I'm seeing some early signs of preflowering so I'm switching over to Bloom schedule and introducing Bud Ignitor into the mix.
8/19-On my first 3 Bears Smile grow I let the plant get alot more shaggy. This time around I'm trying to encourage more lateral growth and a smaller number of larger colas. It will be interesting to see what the difference in yield and consistency of buds will be in the end.
8/23-Bumped nute load up a bit to 900ppm and the plant seems to be doing nicely. Canopy continues to fill in and is starting to stretch upwards a bit faster now.
8/25-End of 5 weeks and it looks like preflower is well under way. Canopy is wide and even which should get light on all the buds. Looking good as we head into bloom phase.
Week #6-Aug 25 to Aug 31
8/28-Plant is starting to stretch and keep its level canopy. It looks like the beginning of buds starting to form.
8/30-continued progress.
9/1-Plant is looking good. The canopy is nice and wide and light seems to be getting to all the bud sites. One day I'll learn to be more careful when cutting leaves. Today in my haste I managed to whack off one of the main colas which is so stupid. I just lightened the yield by 1/8.
Week #7-Sep 1 to Sep 8
9/2-Looking for alot of stretch this week. Up to 13 inches now and spread wide for good light coverage.
9/7-Plant is really starting to stretch. Up to 17 inches now. Lots of bud sites. Starting to look alot like the last 3BS grow.
9/9-Solid week of growth and development. Up to 18 inches and lots of bud sites all over with at least 7 colas stretching above the canopy. Next week I'm hoping to see the buds really start to take shape.
Week #8-Sep 8 to Sep 14
9/11-Plant is really looking good. Tons of bud sites. Still stretching with 8 colas starting to emerge above the canopy. I'm hoping to see the buds start to add on some density in the next few days. Runoffs have been right on target.
9/13-Did some light defoliation on the interior of the canopy. Plant is continuing to stretch with 8 colas developing above the canopy.
9/15-Lots of bud sites although they seem a bit smaller than last time. I added a taste of Overdrive into the mix a bit earlier than usual to see if that helps or hurts. Frost is starting to show up. Lots of light getting into the canopy. Next week I'm hoping to see the buds start to fatten up a bit.
Week #8-Sep 16 to Sep 22
9/16- Lots and lots of bud sites just like the last time. But this time I've managed to keep the plant growing more wide than tall. Whereas on my first 3BS grow the plant was at 43 inches at this point, this time around we are at 24 inches in height. Last time the tall branches needed support but not this time. So far we are seeing the first signs of the pistils turning "pink" and some signs of frostiness. Smell is getting stronger. This week I'm looking to see the buds start to pack on some density.
9/18-Watered today with EC in 1.75 range. Bud continue to get a bit frostier and fatter. I'm thinking we've got another 3-4 weeks to go at least.
9/22-Good week of growth. Buds are really stacking and starting to fatten up although I think we still have a ways to go.
Week #9-Sep 23 to Sep 29
9/23-Watered to runoff. Runoff was about 200 ppm above inputs so I'll water next time with no nutes. Also did some minor defoliation on the interior to see if I can get more light into the middle of the plant. Pistils are showing first signs of turning to amber. I've added the OVERDRIVE and I'm expecting to see some fattening up of the buds and more frostiness this week. I still think we have at least 3 more weeks to go.
9/25-Continued development. Buds are showing more red pistils and frostiness but I'm a little concern that the buds are no as big and dense as they should be at this point. Will continue to monitor.
Week #10-Sep 30 to Oct 6
10/6-End of 11 week. Buds are loo0king good but not quite as dense as I thought they might be. Lots of new white pistils on the buds and not much turning to amber on the trichomes. This one is taking a bit longer than I had thought it might. It feels like its got a couple of more weeks left in her based on lack of color in trichomes.
Week #11-Oct 7 to Oct 13
10/7-Starting a long slow flush over the next week to ten days. Starting at EC 1.73 and 1200 ppm.
10/8-flushed to 1.06/740. Leaves are starting to turn yellow.
10/9-Flushed 0.68/480
10/10-Flushed to .51/350. Buds are getting more amber.
10/11-Flushed to 0.35/240
10/12-Flushed with Flawless Finish to .43/300. Leaves continue to yellow.
10/13-Did one final flush down to 100 ppm. For the next 3 days there will be no more water, the lights are off, and humidity is set for 40-45%.
Another great grow from Mephisto. Second time around for this Mephisto freebie. Another solid yield although not as big as last time. Going to let it slowly dry for 7-10 days and then cure for 30 days then report on the smoke.
Overall this one was easy to grow. Last time around I wound up topping the plant twice. This time I fimmed and the plant was definitely alot shorter and wider with more colas. But the buds might have been a bit smaller and the lower buds were definitely a little wispy. Last time the smoke was off the hook so I'll save my final comments after we complete dry and cure.
