PPFD: 900 (no immediate issues shown) Journal: This might be the last easy week, issues will become apparent soon. Until then, only 2 pics for this week, apparently I was too busy staring at them with my own eyes.

Heat stress plus some kind of lockout due to topsoil drying out. PPFD set to 900 for 2 wks, + dried topsoil. Lowered light intensity, flushed with water. Color has mostly returned. Sugar leaves affected. Is this fine, recoverable, dangerous to smoke?

Trim away the dead sugar leaves and pluck out the fan leaves it will be fine, won't be dangerous unless you sprayed something on it. Flushing is not really needed unless you overfed the medium or your trying to correct a issue in it like a ph swing, 2week end of life just water on a soil grow with amendments is good, gives it a chnage to use up whats in the soil. if you where doing this with lots of runoff it would be a lot and not needed. Good Luck!

Dry Tent Temp: 67.3 F avg., What to do for cooling? My Rh is at 60%, if I can't reliably lower my temps should I adjust the humidity to compensate? If so, to what?

67.3 f is not bad for drying if anything its almost perfect. I dry anywhere from 18-25c or 64-77f, my ideal would be 15c but I never get that unless I open the doors in the winter so 18c is my new go to. I try and keep RH around 60% with some small airflow happening. If no airflow then aim for RH to be 55%, no mater the temp RH should not be below 40 or above 60. someplace in between. To low = drys to fast, to high = potential for bud rot. The RH of the air its pulling into the tent / dry room should be lower then the RH of the tents ambient air. I set my tent up to dry the weed with pools of water on the bottom and program the smart exhaust to turn on low when RH hits 60%+ then by the time it auto shuts off the RH is back down to 40-50 and it does this for about a week or two. I only rely on my central AC and however cold the apartment is, I don't cool the dry room specifically and my shit turn out nice and dank. Good Luck!

Early test, bong: Day 13 of long hang-dry. Not much taste. Maybe some hay in the background, a slight sweet or fruity aftertaste, but is doesn't stay. I got ripped tho. It doesn't taste bad, just not good. Will the final days of dry and the cure bring the flavor through?

So yes it could recoup some flavor in cure a few weeks or month plus in.. at this point, celebrate that the high is what you are looking for. It’s rare to find something that combines high, flavor, and smell. I’m not a bong smoker but make sure everything is cleaned out too when you are judging smoke like this. Also the bud in pic looks a little leafy I wonder if that’s the case you’re getting a bit more leaf than bud?

Bud Rot? I assume so. What needs to get tossed? Entire jar/container/paper bag, or Only affected Buds? This batch, from a single plant, has smelled off. I pulled them from jars and tossed them in a paper bag overnight. Smells better but I saw the rot when looking at buds again.

the infection would stop once the moisture content fell low enough, but ... if you see spots, through it out. long-term storage with it wouldn't be wise of course. and anythignin teh same container likely have sports even if dormant / not growing once it's fully dried. or so slow it's immeasurable except after 6months type thing. sometimes you do what you gotta do. i'd suggest erring on safe side as others said. pick through it.. see what you see.. any hint of odd flavor from clean buds, then toss it out. smell test can help. It's hard to see anything specific in these pics.. some discoloration? the smell is obviously more important here. your bud from the diary doesn't look extremely green. some buds come dark or brownish naturally too. maybe not brown but less bright green, lol. and that green fades more over time too.

I know I'm late but I was looking through your diaries and this is one hell of a result for a first grow. I envy your green thumb. That's quite a yield you had for your first grow! I'm planning on going the build a soil route eventually but still have a lot of nutes left over from my first grow.

@MrLahey, Yeah I made plenty of mistakes still. Biggest one was leaving too much lower growth. I had so much popcorn that I ended up just pressing for rosin. I love these earthboxes. They bang hard. But I feel like I always slow them at the end of flower because hey have filled out the boxes by then. My 4x4 grassroots livings soil bed just shipped. So I am going to be throwing over 100 gallons of soil into that and chuck it in my 4x4. Going to run 4 initially and see how it goes. It'll be different than the SIP system that the earthboxes use but it's twice now that I have maxed out these EB's and I think I just need more soil since I tend to veg long. Plus not having to top dress so often, and eventually setting up automatic watering will help me save time, since I spend way too much time doing the simple stuff. Long rant, but thought Id share my thoughts after running the buildasoil method since you mentioned it. I am going all in on it, it definitely works for me. And if I don't like the bed I can toss it outside for veggies and go back to the EBs. Happy growing, bud!

@FacelessGardens, Thanks, I was worried I shorted the yield with the dry down/heat stress they saw towards the end. Plenty happy for my first grow though, thanks for the words of encouragement growmie!

Definitely noticed some mold from plant #1's buds. The entire batch smelled off, and I made the stupid mistake of tossing all together and not trying to do any of the inspections in an enclosed separate area. So I threw all of #1 away. I still have the popcorn and shake bags but haven't decided what to do with them. Oh well, shit happens and I still have 2/3rds of my grow which is looking great.
