Greetings to all DinaFem lovers! I'm Teetee, and I like growing HUGE Autos under LED's. I mainly grow Dutch Passion stuff, but I once grew a couple of DinaFem Critical Jacks..... beautiful, resin coated plants, which unfortunately were overshadowed by two DP AutoUltimates that gave over a kilo in total. I've been growing for 4-5 years now, and have also produced a couple of 13 ounce plus Daiquiri Limes, and a couple of 13 ounce plus Glueberry OG's, making the Dutch Passion Blog 4 times in total. I really enjoyed the Critical Jack, so I want to give a big THANK YOU to Mark @DinafemSeeds for the opportunity to grow some DinaFem strains again and see if I can get a few more monsters! Looking through the catalogue, two strains caught my eye...... Auto White Widow XXL - an old school legend, in an XXL!!!! Say no more! Auto Blue Amnesia XXL - the name says everything.... taste, high potency and yield! I was in a bit of a rush.... I had 3 months till I moved out and I wanted to get this grow on the go ASAP, but I only had a few litres of Coco left over, so I wasn't able to use my usual method of planting directly in 20L airpots. I have 5L airpots which I sometimes use if my 20L ones are still in use, but there wasn't enough coco even for them. So I got a few paper cups, poked a few holes in the bottom and filled them with coco, soaked them with EC 0.7 feed made up of 0.3ml/L House and Garden Cocos A&B, 0.1ml/L drip clean, 0.3ml/L Roots Excellurator and 0.3ml/L Nitrogen boost. I selected one of each strain, and also 2 DP beans for the ride. I planted the seeds about 2cm under the surface and covered each cup with clingfilm and topped them with some thick card to keep the light out. I stuck them under a Skyline 400 LED at max height for a bit of warmth. 2 days later 3 had popped, the Blue Amnesia was first, follwed by the White Widow, then the DP Night Queen. The next day there was no sign of the DP Glueberry OG so I carefully dug down to find her with her helmet off, cotyledons out and looking very pale - almost white. I teased her head out of the coco and pretty soon she started to stand up and turn green.... SHE'S ALIVE!!!!!! 100% succesful germination technique..... just. I started feeding the same mixture on day 3, and again on day 5 and 7.... using a 50ml syringe to deliver 100ml gently around the seedlings. I am going to focus on the White Widow in this diary, so please join me on my monster quest!

I was beginning to panic, the bloody Coco still hadn't arrived, and I didn't want to have the tap roots hitting the bottom of the cups as I want to avoid stressing them out during the transfer to the 20L airpots. Finally it arrived on day 9..... so I filled up my trusty 20L airpots, and made a hole in the centre to fit a cup in. I used scissors to cut the bottom of the cup off, made a slit up the side of the cup, then carefully plonked it in the hole, and slowly pulled up the cup, leaving the seedling in place in the 20L airpot. I used the syringe to give them another quick 200ml feed just around the seedlings, and got on with the rest of my day. That evening, I mixed up another 40L feed, upping the Nitrogen to 0.4ml/L making it EC 0.8, pH 5.8, and gave each pot 10L to saturate the coco and get a bit of run off. The Aquavac is a vital piece of kit for sucking up the run off in a jiffy and giving the tent floor a quick hoover. I had them under 2 Skyline 400 LEDs and was turning them a ¼ turn every day. By day 13 the White Widow was about 5 inches high. She took to the 20L airpot very well, and I was feeding her 1-2L a day, and that's just giving me a dribble of run off. If I wasn't using Drip Clean, I would give them more (but don't start Drip Clean mid way through a grow - either use it from word go, or not at all). I gave her EC 0.7 from the start, increasing to EC 0.8 (mainly by adding extra Nitrogen boost) from day 9. From day 13, I increased the feed strength to EC 0.9, this time by adding a touch more A&B (from 0.3ml/L to 0.4ml/L) and starting Multizyme. I use House and Garden nutes and additives, except 'Bloom' Cal-Mag. She was looking very healthy and had started perfectly, showing XXL potential so far!

The White Widow is just exploding with growth. By day 18 I thought I should start doing some leaf tucking as her new side shoots were getting obscured by the big fan leaves. The photos show the blue dot leaves hidden by the red dot fan leaf.... and after tucking down the red dot and yellow dot fan leaves to show the newly exposed shoots. After leaf tucking, very soon (and I mean within hours) you can see the plant adapting to it's new shape, the leaves and shoots settle into their new positions and you should see a lot of growth occur over the next few days. I just keep running my fingers through the leaves to make sure nothing is getting caught. I'm still rotating her a ¼ turn a day, and she's drinking about 4-5 litres of EC 0.9 feed daily. Now that she's well established, I've started adding Amino Treatment - basically Silicon, and she has a Skyline 400 all to herself, about 70 cm above her. I’ve also started adding Multizyme to get the best out of the root zone. and I increased the Nitrogen Boost to get her REALLY going!

The White Widow looks like she's gonna be the star of this grow.... She is growing so big that I have not had to cut any leaves off at this stage, and for 28 days and already 42cm high, she is absolutely perfect and is gonna be another monster.

On day 31, I decided to spend some time with the Widow and stake her out..... she needed to spread out a bit, and at 1 month old, she was just starting to flower. Now's the time to expose as many tops as possible before she goes into stretch. The other option to staking is to remove leaves, but I prefer this method. The photos show her before, on day 28.... .... and after staking out all the long stemmed lower branches on day 31.... A close up shows those stems bent out at almost 90°, but the tips and side branches recover very quickly and start growing upwards again. A low stress supercrop!

It's day 37, week 6, and the White Widow XXL is well and truly in flowering mode. I've stopped giving Amino Treatment as it is essentially Silicon, and I don't want the issues that causes with the final product. I have started giving Bud XL, and will continue for the rest of the grow. Last week I staked her out, and she went into stretch. Now she has plenty of space to fill out with some fat buds! She is just massive.... 80cm high and 70cm wide, and looking very healthy with tons of long stems all ready to explode with flower.

When Dinafem say these are XXL, they bloody mean it! The White Widow XXL is just enormous, remember she's only 44 days old! 105cm high and over 90cm wide. I reckon she could fill a tent on her own if I spread her out a bit more, unfortunately, she's got some other big girls to compete with. On day 49, I gave her a good defoliation underneath, cutting any leaves that aren't getting much light and any poxy stems that won't get near the top, or produce much more than wispy flowers. She started the week on an EC 1.0 feed, giving A&B, Cal Mag, Roots Excellurator, Multizyme, Bud XL and Nitrogen Boost..... basically my usual veg mix plus Bud XL. During the week, I added Bud Candy and reduced but not stopped the Nitrogen, to keep her a bit greener during flowering. Then I start adding the flowering boosters..... starting with a few days of Bud Ignitor then next week a few days of PK13/14 round about day 50, and finishing off with 3-4 weeks of Top Shooter. She drinks 6-7 litres a day. but could use an extra feed during the day.... I only mix up a 20L bucket of nute for all my plants, so there's none left to top up during the day. I am gonna buy a bigger tub, maybe a 60 Litre one so I can really max her out in flower. I'm also getting a bit sick of lugging a 20L bucket upstairs on a daily basis.... a bigger batch of nute makes sense all round.

Week 8 and she is really full on flowering.... really filling out! She's been on PK13/14 in the form of House and Garden's Top Booster at EC 0.9 for 2 days, I usually give it for 4 days, then move to Top Shooter till the end. While giving Top Booster, I drop the Roots Excellurator. I have also increased the Cal-Mag slightly as she's getting so BIG! I added a couple of extra lights to the existing Skyline 400.... 2 of the new Skyline 100's which have a 50W draw each.

These pictures from day 59 show just how massive the White Widow has become. She is absolutely choc full of flowering sites! Now that she's done with the PK 13/14, I've moved onto the final flowering booster, House and Garden's Top Shooter at half strength and resumed the Roots Excellurator. Thanks for checking in!

The White Widow is an absolute beast.... 115m high and over a metre wide. I've increased the Top Shooter to full strength and finally stopped Nitrogen.... I think she's grown enough! The colas are continuing to fill out with flowers, and she's beginning to give off a citrussy pine scent. I've given her another good trim downstairs, now I just have thick fat buds on the way - no popcorn!

It's day 74 and they are all hurtling towards the finish line. I thought I'd show you just how big the White Widow is compared to the others. The picture shows clockwise from top left and also in decreasing height... White Widow XXL, Blue Amnesia XXL, Glueberry OG and Night Queen. I strapped on the macro lens so this week is all about trichomes.... Something weird was going on with The Widow.... Up until this week, I wasn't seeing as much trichome loading as the others. She seemed to have stalled and her leaves were going yellow, while the Blue Amnesia was still (mostly) green and swelling up. I wasn't seeing much new bud growth, the pistils were turning orange, but not much in the way of new flowering, no new white pistils. She was drinking a good 7-8 Litres a day though.... maybe a tad less than the Blue Amnesia.... I was in a dilemma.... - do I up the EC.... she's a big girl with big needs, yellowing leaves, drinking well, reduced bud growth and delayed trichome loading...... or - do I lower the EC..... slight brown tips on some leaves, the run off was a higher EC (1.4) than the feed (1.0), maybe she was locking out? I decided to lower the EC on Friday, and today's pics surprised me.... there was some increase in trichome action, but I want more....

Now into week 11, day 81, and the Widow is getting close to the finish. She has picked up after last week's little blip, and the Top Shooter is doing it's job, making her sprout more new flowers. She still has a couple more weeks left in her! The pictures show just how thick she is with long full colas.... like a bush full of baseball bats!

It's day 97 and I only have the two Dinafem Girls left in the tent...... they are IMMENSE!!! I will have to do a diary for the Blue Amnesia..... she's something special! I had a look at the trichomes on the White Widow, and they are all opaque with a couple of ambers here and there..... so I will start flushing tomorrow and get her down over the weekend..... not far to go now!

So on day 102, I took these last photos in readiness for the chop the next day. The harvesting was reasonably easy, each stem had a fat cola on it, and so I just cut the stems off near the base, snipped off any side branches and pulled out any crispy leaves out by hand. There wasn't many big leaves left really, just trichome encrusted sweetleaf, I manicured them using clippers, and hung them in batches. The main stems were just hung directly while the side branches were clipped to 'sock hangers'. It probably would have taken less time if I pulled my finger out and rolled less scissor hash enriched joints! The final shots of the gigantic White Widow XXL before she came down show how massive she is, and from slightly different angles, you can see the huge amount of thick bud she's produced. The view from above shows solid bud way beyond the main cola. The main cola itself is a good size.... longer than a Bluelab Truncheon! She was left to dry hanging in a few cardboard boxes ready for the final weigh in..... drum roll please......

It was clear right from the start that the White Widow XXL was going to be a big Girl..... and over 100 days later, to get well over a pound from one Auto is just incredible. I'm looking forward to re-living the old days of White Widow from my lost youth in Amsterdam back in the 80's! Thanks again to Mark at @DinafemSeeds, for the seeds, and also Muddy at LED Hydroponic for the lighting! Thank you for taking an interest in my stuff. you wait till you see what I did with the Blue Amnesia........000
