tomatenmark69 The Wedding Cake is a bit leggy, the others look very healthy. I planted them today with the easyPlugs and watered them for the first time with rootjuice.

tomatenmark69 Runtz had a lot of yellow rusty leaves at the beginning, which I had to remove, so now it's a bit smaller than the others. Last week, I topped all of them and did some defoliation, and started feeding them with Bio Grow. The Glookies is already very big and has handled the topping the best. This week I want to start with LST.

tomatenmark69 This week, LST and defoliation took place, and the SCROG net was installed. The defoliation might have been a bit radical, but they'll recover :D The Glookies is now over 40 cm 😮 I'll probably send her into flowering in 1-2 weeks. I also got another CO2 bag and hung it in the grow box.

tomatenmark69 This week, I defoliated a bit more, but I'm very happy with the ladies. Aside from 2 branches from the Glookies that stand out a bit, the canopy is very even. I also tried to tie down the colas a bit so they don't get too much light. The light has been increased to 60% power. I'm already excited for the first flowers :)

tomatenmark69 Since this week, the temperatures have been a bit of a challenge for me. During the day, it's only about 21°C in the tent and around 18°C at night. How does it work with ventilation? Is it enough if I crack the window for a while 1-2 times a day, or do the plants need more fresh air? Because of the outside temperature, I don't want to leave the window open for long periods. Can you give me tips on how you handle this? Or should I dim my lamp to 80% because it also gives off more heat? In the next few days, I'll also start lollipopping; the first buds should be visible soon :)

tomatenmark69 The 3rd week of flowering went well, I got a heating mat for my grow box this week. How warm should I set it, do you have any tips? So far, I've set it so that the bottom of the box is at 28°C. The lollipopping was also successful and the first buds are visible 😍 I'm really looking forward to the coming weeks!

tomatenmark69 The 4th week is done! Everything looks really good so far. The buds are slowly getting nice and resinous and already smell fantastic. I'm considering not flushing this time and fertilizing until the end. Do you have any experience with that?

tomatenmark69 The 6th week is done. The colors of the Purple Kush and Glookies are getting more vibrant, and they're all super frosty already. Next week they'll get some nutrients, and the week after that just pH-adjusted water. Soon it will be time! 😁

tomatenmark69 Today is day 62 of flowering. I think I will wait another 70 days and then harvest. The trichomes aren't amber enough for me yet. The Wedding Cake has yellow tips on the sugar leaves, is that normal?

I'm a total newbie myself, so please correct me if I'm talking nonsense: BUT you already have CO2 bags hanging, so you don't need fresh air. (roughly speaking, plants only need CO2, light, and water) If you ventilate, you're more likely to reduce your CO2 levels because normal "outside air" only has about 400ppm. Even more BUT: - PLEASE be careful with CO2! At 1000ppm, concentration suffers and you can get headaches. It only becomes deadly at 250,000ppm and unconsciousness starts at 100,000ppm, but better safe than sorry. 😅 - I'm rather skeptical about whether the CO2 bags are useful at temperatures well below 30°C, but a pro can correct me on that! Regarding light: I recommend the Android app "Photone" and make sure your DLI (Daily Light Integral) is around 40. If that raises the temperature, great! If not, better turn on the heater! Otherwise, you have some very pretty girls there! 😁 Good luck! 😊👍

@GreenCosmos, you're right about the CO2 bag, the temperatures were a bit higher the last few weeks so it wasn't a bad idea, but now it's too cold and the bag is basically empty :D If I don't have it anymore, should I ventilate more often? Yeah, I'm also aware that too much CO2 in the room is dangerous, but I don't think one bag in the tent will kill me :D Thanks! 😁
GreenCosmos
GreenCosmos commented3y ago
@tomatenmark69, hehehe of course that won't kill you 😛 So I would say: Grab a good book and sit down regularly with your girls! 😁 It has so many advantages! They enjoy your exhaled CO2 and you don't increase the humidity by ventilating (in autumn and winter, humidity can really spike). If you want to invest 60-80€ and want to know for sure, you can also buy a CO2 meter on Amazon. But, as I said, through ventilation you won't get above 400ppm CO2, and other components of the air aren't needed by a plant. At most, just for the removal of "plant sweat" (so transpiration), which becomes very difficult with cold and humid autumn/winter air.

Stony_German commented3y ago
@GreenCosmos, a bloody beginner with very good knowledge. One problem is that the CO2 ppm should be vented out when they should be at their highest. It only slightly increases the concentration, but for that, the box needs to be airtight, so no activated carbon filter, which can lead to smell and "still" to problems.
tomatenmark69
tomatenmark69 commented3y ago
@Stony_German, true, I hung the bag in front of one of my vents so it can blow some CO2 onto the plants. Otherwise, the carbon filter just sucks it all up from the top, yeah.. but I can definitely smell a strong ammonia odor coming from the bag when I open the tent. I think it will help a little bit, even if they are unfortunately already too low 😅. In my first grow, I only had the bag one size smaller, and I hardly noticed anything. I think being a bit oversized is better with these things; the packaging said it covers up to 5m².. Unfortunately, I don't have a measuring device to check the differences, but it's definitely not harmful, just questionable if nearly 20 euros are worth it 😅
Stony_German
Stony_German commented3y ago
@tomatenmark69, sure it's better than nothing at all. I just think the price/result is what holds me back. I can give you some advice. You can buy CO2 bottles at aquarium shops and adjust how many bubbles escape in the water like in an aquarium. Refilling the bottle is then cheaper by 10€. The real problem is the suction. Unfortunately, you can't leave the AkF out for too long. But you're really doing great👌 I don't want to take that away from you. Gather your experiences, that's definitely better than a know-it-all like me 😂. Enjoy and go for it.😎

Looks good. You can always give your lamp more power by simply hanging it higher. With good air circulation, it will heat the whole box. I've had the Proton app on my phone for a while now, so I can determine the PPFD more accurately. With a heating mat with a thermostat under the pots, you can also achieve stable temps for the roots because temperatures can be a problem here, especially in winter; it cools down more at the bottom. 18 degrees isn't a big problem yet if it doesn't get any lower. 😎

Dolfom commented3y ago
Your plants are beautiful and look healthy. As for the temperature, don't worry, 20 °C is enough; cannabis is a plant that grows in much worse conditions and is very resilient. As long as you're not in the negatives at night, it shouldn't be a problem. Ideally, it's 25 degrees while you're lighting and 20 ° when everything is off. This winter in my tent, which is in my garage, I had no more than 2 or 3 degrees, and I had 20° in my tent with a small heater that runs every 15 minutes on a timer plus a 150 W infrared lamp. And I got good results. Anyway, your temperature isn't a problem for me; you also have CO2, which provides what your plants need, along with a fan. You should have a fresh air intake to renew the air in your tent.
the end.
