I've started using 0.6 "grams" of peter's per gallon of water. Not 0.6 mL. I don't know how to enter that.
Before I started defoliating they were each drinking a full gallon of water per day.
A couple days I misjudged and opened the tent to weeping lower branches.
Now that I've defoliated, they each drink somewhat less.
Pistols are still yellow. I'm assuming they'll turn brown/red before they're ready to harvest?
My eyes are so bad that even with a scope I'm not sure I can spot cloudy trichromes turning amber. I'm not even sure I can tell clear from cloudy. I don't think they're getting close yet though, maybe 3 or 4 more weeks?
I put the undersized screen up only because a few colas started falling over. I don't like that I can no longer rotate them but with the defoliation, I can see the back side.
These were freebies from lucious genetics. Photo periods. I don't know what to expect from them.
Until recently I hadn't smoked since the 80s. I'm sure they'll do the trick. :)
I'm too inexperienced to say for sure but to me, the colas seem to be thickening. The harvest will probably be more than I can smoke. Quality? I don't know anything about the strain. With naked eye, I can't see the snow/sugar like I could on my previous grow. Perhaps it's the color? Lack of contrast? Everything has a yellowish hue? Trying to use a magnifier, trichomes seem abundant though.
Hairs are still mostly yellow so I'm still going on the assumption that until the hairs darken, I don't have to worry about trichome color because it's not even close?
Although the plants have probably grown better, produced more than the autos in my first grow, I'm getting impatient.
After a couple days of not feeling well and neglecting them, I unzipped the tent to find them weeping like a willow.
Even with a scope I couldn't determine if any trichromes were turning amber so I decided to harvest.
I let them sit dry in the tent until the next day and then chopped and hung in the closet a couple days.
I then did a "good enough for me" trim job and am now waiting for them to dry a little more before jarring them.
Personally, I can't describe the smell but so far, I don't know, maybe the both smell a bit like bar soap? :)
I suppose the smell will improve with curing?
They're so sticky I hate to mess with them because I have to wash my hands with alcohol afterwards so if stickiness is a good sign, they may be good.
I smoke alone so with this and all the other, I probably won't "need" more this lifetime. But I'll grow more for variety. I have a Strawberry Gorilla and a Banana Purple Punch getting close to harvest. Seed to harvest time for those was just about less the flower time for this. Although these photoperiods took much more time, the harvest amount is much greater.
