You really need to get them into larger pots. I'm surprised your experienced grower friend didn't suggest that? They are probably already root bound in those little cups. Put them in some 3 or 5 gallon pots with some good potting soil (or a healthy soilless mix) and they will recover. Don't give them any nutrients for a week if soil, if soilless just do like 1/4 nutrients. My point is, get them into larger pots. Good luck!
