I am new to the site and new to growing. I am 1 week in and I would love as much help as I can get. I know there are still things to learn that I will encounter along the way. I do not expect perfection;however, I want to learn how to recognize the different deficencies to maintain and promote healthy growth. I want to learn how to maximize my yields. My indoor setup is a 3x3 tent, soil is Fox Farm Ocean Forest and Happy Frog 50/50 mix. I will be using General Hydroponics as my nutrients and Botanicare Cal-Mag I will contnue using CFL's for my seedlings for about 2-4 more weeks. I am looking into Mars Hydro LED lighting afterwards. So, any suggestions, questions, and/or comments will be appreciated. I uploaded some pictures.
Today is October 17, 2018, Today I will be adding sufficient lights, carbon filter, and exhaust fan. I will be watering all of them. On October 18, 2018, I spoke with somenone about my plants. We got on the topic of how much water with nutes they should be (estimate) drinking by this time. Needless to say, out of fear of over watering, I was only giving them 8oz. every 4 days. They were growing, but not as adequate as they should have been. So it was suggested to give 2 quarts. Wow, the difference it made with my babies, they responded extremely well.
October 19, 2018, I added more soil to the 2 Bagseed pots...originally was 3/4 filled and I defoliated 3 of the 4 plants.
Today is October 20, 2018. I checked the soil to see how fast the babies are drinking. Soil is not wet but not dry, so I will check again in a couple days. I check by putting my finger into soil and I check the open bottom holes.
October 24, 2018, watered all plants. October 25, 2018 topped 3 plants for the 2nd time. GDP#2 did not do 2nd topping. October 27, 2018 watered all plants. GDP #2 was root bound, transplanted into one gallon pot. Bagseed #2 roots were peeking out of holes, transplanted in 2 gallon pot. GDP #1 roots are peek at the pot holes, will be transplanting very soon. Today is October 28, 2018, minimal defoliating. Going to allow plants to grow a bit without much defoliating. My goal is to get height of 1 foot to 1.5 foot before I begin flower stage since they double/triple in height then. I removed all items plants were sitting on for height. Lights are 18 inches from top of plants. When watering, ph is 6.2, temp 75F, ppm differs due to which week I am in for nutes. Today is November 2, 2018, I watered all plants with only cal-mag, no other nutes, ph 6.2. No pics yet, waiting a few days.
Today is 11/7/18. Watered GDP #1 and bagseed #1 today with nutes....... I am going to post these pics as a reminder for myself and as a leraning tool for anyone that like visuals. I am learning that these babies can be thirst buckets...I was making sure I don't do the newbie mistake of over watering...well, underwateringcan be just as bad. I been watering apprx. every 2 days...but this is what happens when I don't ...they end up frowning and hugging the pots. But I was informed, the smaller the pot, the more frequent I will have to water. They are in 1 gallon pots...The roots are not visible through drain holes; therefore, I haven't transplanted into 2/3 gallons.
Today is 11/8/18, I decided I will be transplanting GDP #1 and Bagseed #1 into 2 gallon pots. They did fully recover from dehydration. GDP#2 will remain in the 1 gallon pot for a lil while unless roots start appearing through drain holes. This plant has been tempermental from day 1. I don't understand why one side of the plant responds well to any training I have done (lst, manifold, topping, etc): howerever, the other side seems to have problems and take awhile to recover. It was suggested to throw it away long ago....I am a new grower and I felt I should keep it as a plant I can LEARN from, which I have learned a great deal. Today is 11/9/18. watered thoroughly because I didnt when I transplanted. Defoliated Bagseed #2. Today was photo day. Today is 11/11/18, I did a moderate defoliation. Today is 11/12/18, watered w/nutes only. Today is 11/14/18, watered with cal-mag only. Today will water with nutes and after tonights lights end their 18 hour light cycle, 12/12 will begin.
Today is 11/17/18. This is the final day before the SWITCH to 12/12 lighting schedule. I watered with nutes of 832 ppm, ph. 6.1, temp 78. I pray I have 4 females, if not, at least 2 of the 4. Today is 11/18/18 and WOW, when i opened the tent when the lights came on, my plants had grown an entire inch over that 12 hour darkness period. I wish I had been told to leave them in the dark for 1-3 days then do the 12/12 but oh well still a great 1st time learning experience to see all this step-by-step. Today 11/23/18,watered with cal-mag only. 11/25/18, Bagseed #1 is a male, he has went to cannabis heaven, R.I.P.
Today is 12/7/18, day 20 in flower. Today is 12/8.18, day 21 in flower, watered with nutes, picture day. Today is 12/9/18, day 22 in flower, just video of the girls.
12/29/18, Day 42, started flushing today, I used 3 gallons per plant ph'd to 6.2...runoff ppm went down to 70. When I checked my trichcomes, the leaves had some amber; however, tomorrow I will break a small bud, leaving it attached, to look at the trichs to know when to officially harvest. I am excited now...I have had so much patience throughout the whole growth process and the time is coming to an end soon. I feel I still have so much more to experience and learn. One round of growing only touches the basics...kindof like basic training for the military. I have Durban Poison ready to occupy this tent once I harvest.
Today is January 1, 2019, day 45, watered only, no calmag nor nutes, leaves slowly turning yellow, trichs are coming along, leaves have 20% + amber, flower is 60% milky, 40% translucent, once all milky, I will be harvesting, last water or 2 will be COLD water to assist with more trichs and bud tightening.
Today is 1-2-19, seems every other day my girls want water, so, today was water day. They are slowly apporaching maturity, which means harvesting is around the corner.
Today is 1/6/19, day 50, trichs are 80-85% cloudy, 10% amber, and 5% clearish...I want more of a Sativa outcome, so today I will continue to flush but now with ice on soil and cool water to trick the plant to thinking its about to be winter and let her trichs multiply and buds tighten up.
Today is 1-12-19, 58 days in flower, plants are almost ready to harvest. Picture day today before watering. Today is 1-13-19, watered, 15th day of flush.
I weighed each plant after drying and trimming. Plant #1 weight is a tinch over 36 grams and plant #2 a lil over 56 grams. I will weigh again after the curing process, roughly 4-6 weeks.
Dried for 5 days, then 6th day placed into mason jars burping 1 hour 2 times daily.
check fluence leds.............................mars aint worth it........................and by my book time to drop cfls.....................and get a PAR METER Ij u can
@@grzesiek, can u send a link to a led light sufficient for 3x3 veg AND flower? I have removed cfl's over a week ago. The plants are under a led grow light...its hyper tough led grow light from wal-mart...I will look into the cost of a par meter...i dont know how to read it tho...could u explain...
@@grzesiek, Yes it WAS a male...I wrote that in the description that its a male and R.I.P. to him. Out of the 4, only 1 was a male. As my first grow, I learned a lot growing these 4.
Do you have a ph pen? What is the ph of your water, and how often are you watering? What is the wattage of your cfl that you are using? Please update your grow with this info so we can make some helpful comments. Good luck!
@BeefWellingtons, Currently I am using distilled water and no added nutrients besides what the FFOF/Happy frog has in it. I did check the ph of the plain distilled water, 6.7. She has bounced back and growing more leaves.
@Xquisit, the number one reason why plants show issues is wrong ph. The number two reason is overwatering. Those plugs you have them in are meant to hold moisture, ie every other day may be too much watering (depending on how much water you are giving them). While I'm still a newbie on here, I have looked at hundreds of grows on here. I think you are overwatering, and without a ph pen, my guess is that your ph is off as well. Once she bounces back, you can bring those light closer, Move it down to 2 inches, then a few days later if she's getting bigger and happy, move it down to 1 inch above her.
Also, you need ph up/down to go with that pen.
@CRiSPrGrow, Oh, okay! The pup is a female and the plant is NOT overwatered. Plant soil was bone dry and UNDERWATERED, which leaves droop from that, thank you very much :-)
@CRiSPrGrow, Kind of figured that but I was wondering when is the actual switch from seedling to veg...is it by the days, weeks, how many nodes have grown, etc...
@Xquisit,once you see one male.......................you will see ALL OF THEM.........................and dont progress your learning to autoflower...............................its just waste of time...........................bc bud depot has killer seeds for example.....................thats what i grow
@@grzesiek, I agree;however, its my first grow ever and seeds were gifted. I opted to grow them B4 growing seeds I paid for. I am glad I made that choice because beginners make beginner mistakes and I don't want to make those with seeds that I paid for. I learned so much with this first grow and I am glad I got to see, in person, how to identify male and female plants.
@@grzesiek, ummm correct me if I am wrong, but, I just looked that brand name up and they are extremely pricey, $900+, for a beginner...were you referring to a specific one?
What an interesting leaf discoloration! Nice diary and grow so far @@grzesiek. What brand LED are you using? is the wall wattage 600w or the advertised wattage?
