Back in the grow tent! The Godzilla Cookies Auto was probably my second favourite from my first "Herbies Beginner Auto Mix" grow, with some really tightly stacked nodes that made canopy management a bitch (see diary). I decide to try and run two of these but (between germination and repotting) I drop the seedlings and one comes plummeting out of its peat cube. I then proceed to put it back in (upside down) causing it to shrivel and die. OFF TO A CRACKING START!
So this will be yet another one plant grow. I had really wanted to run two plants to see how far I could push the grow space/light and I could be a bit more brutal with one of the plants, but I guess I took that to the extreme.
26/07/2023 (day 1): Seed pops alongside its sister.
29/7/2023 (day 4): By the time it comes to transplant the seedling, I have already killed its sister on day two. I feel guilty and mist in a ring around the one surviving plant.
Week 1 (31 July 2023 - 6 August 2023)
31/07/2023 (day 6): DLI is cranked to 12.0 delivered over 20 hours.
01/08/2023 (day 7): Not a heap of visible growth over the last 24 hours!
03/08/2023 (day 9): Some tap water misted in a ring around ye olde plantamaphone.
04/08/2023 (day 10): Contemporaneous records suggest that I watered the plant this day, but I can't imagine why.
05/08/2023 (day 11): Slowwwww.
Week 2 (7 August 2023 - 13 August 2023)
Unfortunately my record keeping this grow has been fairly patchy, so bear with me.
07/08/2023 (day 13): Maybe I turned the fan on today with the hope of building up the stem strength. A secret lost to the mists of time.
10/08/2023 (day 16): DLI is cranked up to 20. Also watered though I assume it was still from the mist bottle. I think I turned the fan on a day prior, hence the ol' collapsey.
11/08/2023 (day 17): Watered.
12/08/2023 (day 18: Cooking with gas.
13/08/2023 (day 19): Watered. Topping will come soon!
Week 2 (14 August 2023 - 20 August 2023)
Unfortunately my record keeping this grow has been fairly patchy, so bear with me.
16/08/2023 (day 22): Inaugural topping sesh. Now you see it, now you don't.
18/08/2023 (day 23): Increased DLI to 25.
19/08/2023 (day 25): Vegetative nutrients begin.
20/08/2023 (day 26): Applied LST and some leaf tucking to get the flower sites humming.
Week 3 (21 August 2023 - 27 August 2023)
This phenotype is certainly consistent with my first grow of it in terms of its tiny nodal distance and 'stacked' nature of the nodes generally. I'm playing catch up with the diary because the development is certainly interesting c.f. Herbies' Zkittlez Auto and Purple Chill Auto.
22/08/2023 (day 28): A water and a tucking.
25/08/2023 (day 31): Controversial second topping! I know some people swear not to top autos but I've had consistently good results with a single topping so decided to take things one step further. Another wee water,
26/08/2023 (day 32): A wee tightening of the LST wires to keep the bud sites exposed and try to avoid the canopy/big fat leaves from throwing too much shade.
27/08/2023 (day 33): Got another water. This stout lil plant is 19cm tall from base to canopy today. Tightened the screws on the LST because you have to laugh at how messy these stacked nodes get.
Week 4 (28 August 2023 - 3 September 2023)
Still playing catchup with the diary, but you'll see the girl moved from vege to preflower at the end of August. I continued to do a little bit of LST while I still could and before the stretch began proper. I don't think my nute records are totally accurate, but I know flowering nutrients and Canna Bloom didn't start until 11 September. I think I began doing 1.5L of water around here but only every 3 days, and to be honest she wasn't that thirsty for it.
29/08/2023 (day 35): A water and more LST -- trying to mainline that canopy!
30/08/2023 (day 36): A little bit of nothing apart from a photo
01/09/2023 (day 38): Pre-flower now clearly visible and we had a wee drink to celebrate. There have been some leaf health issues in some of the older, bigger leaves (see pic) that I'm not really knowledgeable enough to diagnose.
03/09/2023 (day 40): Another big drink. Verdance seems to be returning as she moves towards flower. This is a good thing.
Week 5 (4 September 2023 - 10 September 2023)
Realised this run I have been too high on my own supply to take good notes, especially as regards to the timing of nutrient changes. I'm pretty sure I "decided" this plant was flowering on 7 September 2023 (before then there was beautiful verdant preflower activity that probably didn't warrant a "stage switch" -- it's so difficult with autos) and that's when I started adding some weak as piss flowering nutrients and tapering the vege nutes down. As I reflect on these pictures, obviously most of them were taken before drinking water, possibly on a 3 day feeding cycle that meant they look droopier than they should have. Anyway.
04/09/2023 (day 41): A drink with liquid nutes (close observers will note I seldom do nutrient-free watering -- this came more from laziness but (like skipping a flush) has never bitten me in the ass). I don't think I started adding flowering nutes 'til the next feed but I could not say that hand on heart.
07/09/2023 (day 44): I decide today she officially began "flowering" but I could not say whether this was the first pistil I saw pop. I mark this occasion in no way.
08/09/2023 (day 45): Another drink n' feed.
09/09/2023 (day 46): Some pics from today show that the stretch has begun!
Week 6 (11 September 2023 - 17 September 2023)
This was almost 3 weeks ago so this plant is really a distant memory. But now we're cooking with gas. By 19 September, this baby gonna be 30cm tall.
11/09/2023 (day 48): A drink with some more flowering nutes.
12/09/2023 (day 49): Today she measures 26cm stem to canopy
14/09/2023 (day 51): Watered today but apparently didn't photograph. We are cranking a 42.8 DLI, which is nice from my wee 100W rig.
15/09/2023 (day 52): A couple of dry days
16/09/2023 (day 53): Yep, a second dry day.
17/09/2023 (day 54): She was looking epically thirsty today. Been dumping 1.5L water at a time, usually once every 48H but didn't want her getting waterlogged.
Week 7 (18 September 2023 - 24 September 2023)
This was almost 3 weeks ago so this plant is really a distant memory. But now we're cooking with gas. By 19 September, this baby gonna be 30cm tall.
18/09/2023 (day 55): Nothing to report except that we're hummin'.
19/09/2023 (day 56): A water and a feed. Dishonestly I will say with certainty that I upped nutes. 36cm tall today. Stretchin'.
21/09/2023 (day 58): Watered today and fed.
23/09/2023 (day 60): Another nutrient-rich water.
Week 8 (25 September 2023 - 1 October 2023)
Crikey I'm still running like 3 weeks behind. By this stage I wonder if it's by design.
25/09/2023 (day 62): Water and a feed. No photo.
26/09/2023 (day 63): Heads are up but no fattening yet.
27/09/2023 (day 64): Watered today and fed.
29/09/2023 (day 66): Watered oncemore, but no feed.
01/10/2023 (day 68): Watered! She must have been thirsty this week. She will be 50.5cm tall tomorrow.
Week 9 (2 October 2023 - 8 October 2023)
In which I go out of town and this lil girl gets neglected! Bud structure strengthens, the fade begins.
02/10/2023 (day 69): Day 69! Nice. Today she got a water and a feed and measured in at 50.5cm base to canopy. Hawt!
03/10/2023 (day 70): Buds are starting to chunk up a bit. DLI at canopy is 40.9, which is about all I can squeeze out of my light, but that's OK!
05/10/2023 (day 72): Got a water and a feed but no photo!
06/10/2023 (day 73): Just some piccies before a big surprise.
07/10/2023 (day 74): Got a plain water today (out of town, no nutes).
08/10/2023 (day 75): Holy fade! It really looks like one 'water only' feed left the whole plant looking a bit starved, but perhaps the fade is within normal range and I just felt guilty for being away.
STAY TUNED! This girl is going to get much prettier quite quickly, once I summon up the energy to catch up...
Week 10 (9 October 2023 - 15 October 2023)
Bud structure continues to improve, fade seems to slow as I nudge nutes up just a wee bit and approach with more regularity and discipline.
10/10/2023 (day 77): 10.10 is not the end!
11/10/2023 (day 78): A feedy water today for some thirsty girls.
12/10/2023 (day 79): Looking absolutely gorgeous today.
13/10/2023 (day 80): Watered with nutes oncemore.
14/10/2023 (day 81): Today I started a new grow project -- not cannabis and diary to follow!
Week 11 (16 October 2023 - 22 October 2023)
In which I take no height measurement of my plant...
16/10/2023 (day 83): Had a water but didn't take a photo because my device was AWOL :/
18/10/2023 (day 85): Watered again! This girl is coming along.
19/10/2023 (day 86): Watered. Nothing else to report except that this photo is almost identical to the day's prior.
20/10/2023 (day 87): UwU late stretch!
21/10/2023 (day 88): Watered!
22/10/2023 (day 89): Chonky boiz.
Week 12 (23 October 2023 - 29 October 2023)
In which I finally catch up with my diary and find myself on the eve of chopping
23/10/2023 (day 90): Watered but no piccy.
25/10/2023 (day 92): Watered again! And many photographs. I pull out my loupe which is in a state of decomposition and attempt some trichome photographs.
27/10/2023 (day 94): Still watering and feeding, no flush for me.
29/10/2023 (day 96): Another water with feed. Some autumnal colours/yellowing of leaves that seems to indicate we're at the end of the line. Keen observers will note that in the close-up trich photos the lower sugar leaves have significant ambering.
Think I might go 100 days with this girl!
Week 13 (30 October 2023 - 2 November 2023)
In which IT ALL COMES TO A DRAMATIC END!
30/10/2023 (day 97): Watered this girl. Feeling like a big fat fuck!
01/11/2023 (day 99): Another water, no piccy.
02/11/2023 (day 100): THIS IS IT! HARVEST POST INCOMING. STAY JUICED, SHE'S A BEAUTIFUL GIRL.
My second foray with this strain included in Herbies Beginner Auto mix pack.
This once again produced a stacked plant with teeny weeny internodal distance and big fatboi fan leaves. It was super vigorous and definitely enjoyed the 19L pot vis-a-vis its previous 8L pot run.
It's got a nice gassy, fruity aroma and has benefited from plenty of curing. Beautiful big buds that I tried to keep somewhat intact during the trim. Would run again.
So around 5 months after finishing this run I finally get around to closing it out with a post! I honestly enjoy running this strain a lot. Although the internodal distance is very small and makes canopy management/tucking a bit of a fiddly process, it happily tolerated being topped twice (at days 22 and 31) and it's a slow enough grow cycle (~100 days) that you have the time to do so, unlike some faster autos.
Wow buddy!! super nice buds
What an amazing grow so far - good job and well done 🤝
Happy Growing & cant wait for your upcoming weeks 🌱
Cheers, Bud Boutique 👩🌾
@Loran11144, I did indeed top twice at days 22 and 31 :) Definitely learned the "don't top autos" wisdom doesn't seem to apply to the modern auto genetics I've been running.
