See, this is why it's important to select your seedlings.
Both have been under the same light, same medium, same nutrients, same love.
After 12 days, we have a champion, and a looser.
I have big plans for this strain, thinking of a mainlining and/or scrog, so I cannot afford to grow a slow/unhealthy pheno.
--- SEEDLING 01, "the champion" ---
Fast growth, nice leaves, beautiful color
---SEEDLING 02, "the weirdo" ---
Slow growth, weird leaves, sad color
#02 was killed and I can move on with a strong THC Bomb phenotype.
Topped for the 2nd time and transplanted from 0.5 to 5L airpot.
Slowly building the manifold. I think I will push to 8 colas but may have the time to get 16 since this plant will veg for 2 months while my autos do their sprint.
Had a leaf related issue (see picture), plant was way too bushy, so I decided to try the radical approach and removed all the leaves, to see how she handle stress. She did recover in less than a week. I'm impressed by the energy of this strain, growth is spectacular for such low amount of light, she's been growing under x2 IKEA 10W bulbs for 4 weeks!!
Had a surprise in the mailbox today, MarsHydro sent me their par-38 led bulb, I'm going to try this bulb instead of the IKEA ones in my microgrowing setup.
Not much to say, I let her recover from last surgery and guide her stems with the help of strings.
I am now waiting for a reasonable distance under each stem and perfectly symmetrical nodes, to push her to 16 colas 😍
My new light should be in the mailbox very soon, she will enjoy LM301B diodes in a few days, IKEA 10W bulbs did an awesome job for her first weeks but the space/coverage is getting short. That space was built for germination only, I'm still impressed by those cheap IKEA bulbs.
She was topped for the last time, 16 apical summits were born 😎. She has been under x2 MarsHydro PAR38 LED bulbs for a week, but I think she didn't like those. She developed some burnt spots, my guess is that IKEA bulbs are safer than MarsHydro ones. Plus, I'm getting sick of those pink-ish lights. I sold my x2 COBs to buy x3 LM301B PCB boards (QB-style, in my opinion one of the best ways to go nowadays). Otherwise she looks great, I'm having hard times trying to keep everything symmetrical but this will be easier as soon as I plug my new quantumboards in the tent. Stay tuned folks 👋
She was transplanted into a 9L airpot, and has a brand new canopy ring. This will help me to control the monster for the next weeks of veg. She really likes the QuantumBoards. Stay tuned folks!
Roots were already coming through the bottom of the AirPot so I did transplant her in a 11L container. In less than a week the second level or the canopy ring was reached. That lady is vigorous! 👌
And....she has reached the 3rd level of her canopy ring. In less than 1 week! I was planning to keep this monster in veg for 4-5 more weeks but will probably reconsider this due to limited height. Lovely bush, I was not expecting so many side stems. Thanks for stopping by, stay tuned folks 👊
She went through her 1st issue, and started to show signs of a cal-mag deficiency. I realized I was very light on cal-mag and did not increase the amount of cal-mag as much as needed with this monster. Problem solved. This was her last vegetative week, LET'S FLIP THAT BOMBASTICK 👈😎👌
She has definitely entered the flowering stage, and started to stretch. Hopefully the amount of apexes and the quality of my light will help containing the vertical stretch. I will also apply the "cold-morning" method, and give the room some fresh air for the 2 first hours of daytime (when light turns on). Stretch is known to happen during these hours and seem to be highly related to the temp. I've had success with this method in the past so let's see how this goes. Thanks for stopping by! 👊
She's been through some serious defoliation & pruning, I usually try to avoid such operations after the 2nd week of flowering, but that monster keeps on producing large leaves so she will probably require another defoliation session later. So far so good, planning some sexy pictures with my ladies once that THCbomb will be fully flowering to enter the NakedBuds contest 😎 Stay tuned folks!
She's has conqueered half of my grow room and is putting everything into bud production. I'm struggling with RH but I ordered an electric dehumidifier so this should be OK within the next days. I love that monster, can't wait to see it fully flowering 😎
Thanks for stopping by & see you next week 👊
I finally managed to decrease my relative humidity thanks to a new electric dehumidifier. She started to show a manganese def so I've decided to add some humic+fulvic acids into her feedings, something was wrong with her nutrient intakes and those acids should solve this asap. Actually, I've seen improvement in a few days, spots are not appearing anymore. We're only a few weeks from harvest now, she smells skunky and fruity. Let's see how buds will fatten up in the last days 😎
I did push the EC a bit too much for the last weeks, she's now telling me to slow down: her leaves tips have burnt. Will take this in account and be more gentle for the late flowering. Mixing MG and BudExplosion is a bit tricky. Besides the burnt tips, buds are getting bigger everyday, the skunky lemonish smell is nice, she reminds me somehow the classic SuperSkunk (SensiSeeds) I used to grow 15 years ago. She should be ready in 2 to 3 weeks now, so stay tuned and stay high! 😎
Last days on earth for this beautiful monster, hopefully she should be ready by the end of the week. Trichomes are more and more milky, I gave the coco a good flush, and she's fading out nicely.
Thanks for stopping-by and stay tuned for the harvest update 👌
OK she wasn't ready yet so I went back on nutrients with 1 slight meal and back on flush for this final week. It looks like I got the long flowering pheno. Anyway this journey has been so long, I could wait a few more days to get the most of this bomb 😎
I really enjoyed both growing and smoking that strain! The speed of growth during the vegetative stage was spectacular. It's like nothing could have stopped her! She was able to build a strong rootmass and big healthy leaves in a few days under cheap IKEA bulbs. And she exploded when I moved her under a 110W smd ("quantum board"). She was transplanted twice, and each time I switched her container I noticed some crazy roots all around the AirPot. Solid genetics in here, for sure!
She was a pleasure to work on because her stems were flexible enough to bend them continuously, making the mainlining process very easy. No snap, no slow recovery, no toxicities nor deficiencies, and no light stress... She asked for more and I gave her the maximum I could, in terms of time, pot size, quality/quantity of light. I was not expecting so many side-branching so pruning was mandatory, as well as defoliating its large fan leaves. She needed some air at her feet. If you want to work on the same project, and plan to mainline a THC-Bomb in a quite short space, I would recommend to stop the training at 8 main colas, pushing to 16 was a bit crazy, since the buds were really close from each others during late flowering. But once again the quality of the genetics showed up and she was not affected by mold/mildew or any late-flowering disease. She just faded out nicely, and drove its last energy into resin production.
The harvest was easy since that plant had a good leaf-to-bud ratio, plus she offered me some nice scissor-hash during the trim! No issue at all during drying, that was done in 16 days (8 days on the stems upside-down, and 8 days on a drying net). Curing was done conscientiously, by opening the jars everyday for almost 3 weeks. Then comes the smoke test! What a pleasure to enjoy your homemade product after so many weeks of work!
The final product looks great in the jars, and even better in the grinder, her dense dry buds litterally explode once crushed, a small bud results in a big joint!
The high will hit you after a few minutes, and will last for more than an hour. It is - in my opinion - an afterwork or party strain, it will not glue you to the couch but will make you feel energetic, happy, and creative. Definitely a social strain to share with good friends! The taste is not that unique (it can make you think of other strains) but still very nice, some notes of citrus, pepper, with an earthy dominance.
Well well well thanks to all of you for reading my diary and supporting that project 😎 This was the longest run I've been through for a while, but it was worth it. I was rewarded with 168g of top shelf quality buds, while she was under a 110W SMD (LM301B) board.
Only 110W... I was amazed by these boards by InvisibleSunLed, and very happy of my investment. Samsung diodes are game-changers and it will get even better in a near future, what an exciting time for us modern growers! If you plan to buy some SMD boards, make sure the driver is dimmable, the light intensity can be so strong at its maximum, you could burn your plants (or your eyes). I started the board at 50% (~55W) and slowly increased the wattage as I was seeing a happy plant enjoying her indoor sun. I was also very surprised by the cheap IKEA bulbs, some ingeneers at IKEA must be growing pot, these tiny things do really work! I wouldn't try to flower anything with these, but it was perfect for the first weeks of my THC-Bomb.
I made some canna-butter using the sugar leaves from the trim and some decarboxylated buds, and cooked a big cake. That s*** was strong as hell, I was unable to do anything for 24 hours 😭 If you're not used to edibles, start with small pieces rather than a big cake, I learned it the hard way 😜
I will now work on gaining knowledge about nutrient absorption in coco, improving my photo skills (must get a new camera..), and I will also look for a better way to produce timelapses.
Shout-out to the brands who made this possible:
🇬🇧 Bomb Seeds (breeder)
🇬🇧 Invisible Sun Led (lights)
🇺🇸 Greenleaf Nutrients (nutrients)
🇬🇧 Air-Pot (pots)
🇸🇪 IKEA 😂 (lights)
I enjoyed sharing this experience with you, stay tuned for some other grow report, and happy growing to all 👊
@Tweak, I never water twice a day but usually I water until I got a good runoff to prevent salt buildup in the coco and to ensure a full refresh of the medium. 💧🌱
@Stick, I find the perlite helps with nutrient buildup in the coco, I use a airpot with 50/50 mix coco and perlite. Just find that sometimes in warm weather I have to water 2x a day
@petermoca, Thanks! Well, you should really wait for node n°5 before topping at node n°3, this will speed up the recovery process and the new growth for the 2 first main stalks. Quite the same for the next topping surgeries, wait for the plant to develop 2-3 nodes above the node you want to top. The canopy-ring definitely helped me in managing the LST, I highly recommend to buy or build something similar. I think that transplanting 3 times also helped in building a strong root system. Select your strain, you don't want to many side growth, you need a strong genetic with symmetrical nodes, some strains don't like to be bent, others are sensitive to scissor cuts... For every run I recommend to proceed to seedling selection (see the first weeks of my diaries). I'd be happy to follow your experience, and I remain available if you need further information. Happy growing! 👊
Gorgeous plant. You did an amazing job with getting this plant to take the shape you wanted. The amount and quality of the bud looks beautiful and u should be very proud of yourself! 👏
Just as suspected, flowers stacked on flowers 👌
You grew 15 yrs ago?! You've got me beat even I'm going on 10 😁 , not that my growing reflects it 😄😋
When I first saw the last photo of this week I could barely make out the black lighter in the jungle of nugs 👍👍
Cool insight on the "cold morning" I've read and heard ALOT and never heard read or put this together myself. Very cool thanks for sharing.
PS my grow is very cold and most of my plants are very tightly noded. Coincidence? I'll have to explore this subject more!
