Disclaimer: I slacked a bit on documenting the first few weeks of this grow. So some weeks don't have photos, but I will fill in as much info as I can. Life...
Popped a few different seeds for this grow. 2 Photoperiod and 2 Auto. (photos will be tracked in a different diary) The star of this show will be Big Bertha (Cheese XXL Auto) The other strain was supposed to be Sugar Mango Ryder from World of Seeds, but from the two seeds I tried to germ, neither wanted to pop.
Soaked the seeds overnight in a glass of water then transferred to a damp paper towel with a heating pad underneath. Took a bit longer than my last grow, but the seeds popped in just over 48 hrs. They then went into 18oz solo cups.
Little sprouts looking good this week. Feeding small amount of root nutrients with each cup taking about 6oz of water every few days. Steady as she goes.
This week was hectic as I was getting ready to head into the desert but I did manage to top Bertha before I left.
I know there is some debate on topping autos, but I figured I would try it and see what happens.
I was out in the desert this whole week. In the process of getting there, I forgot to tell someone to water the plants. Oops...
When I got back, she was surprisingly still alive and well!
Alright. This is where it starts to get interesting. Now I promise Ill be more consistent with the updates.
After drying out for about 10 days, I got back and gave Bertha a good drink. Then I tied her down with some heavy LST. I also think this may be the first week of flower. Unfortunately, I think going 10 days without any water may have set her back a bit. But I'm going to make sure she has everything she needs from here on out to finish strong.
Mid week, I noticed some slight yellowing and browning of her lower leaves so I upped the second feeding and added in a little CalMag to give her a boost.
Super Stretch! Bertha really took off this week. Going from completely flat to straight up and budding. Pretty cool to see how fast these autos grow.
Started the transition into bloom nutrients and feeding heavy. Also increased the light intensity and lowered it to 12" above the canopy after moving the other two photoperiod plants into the bigger flower tent.
Big Bertha going strong. As her name suggests, she is a heavy feeder. Same as with the other ladies, I'm starting to notice some soil exhaustion and the need for a little revitalization. So I'm going to stay on top of her and make sure she has everything she needs to finish strong and finish fat.
Starting to get into the final stages here. I hope she goes for a few more weeks to really pack it on. There was quite a bit of progress over only a few days.
I added BioMarine in the two feedings this week to hopefully help liven up the soil in the coming weeks. She seems to be needing nitrogen and pulling from the lower fans. Yellowing was quite apparent later in the week. I know this tends to be normal at this stage in flower, but I think she may have a few weeks to go so I will supplement a bit more N in the next week before letting her use up the reserves.
Big week for Bertha! She's really packing on the weight now. Fed the last of the nutes early in the week then plain water here on out.
Trichomes are mostly cloudy with some just starting to turn amber. I think she has about another week or so. Getting really excited to try this strain. She smells so sweet and cheesy!
Big Bertha really lived up to her name. What a little monster!
At only about 1 sqft she really packed on some weight. Thick colas all the way down to the base. Really looking forward to seeing how much she produced and try the taste. She smells strongly of sweet cheese.
This was the final week of ripening and she's ready for the dry rack.
