This one was undoubtedly the pride and joy of the grow and a big thank you to RQS again for the beans: 1:. If u followed her neighbour grow (northern lights) then you know the CK was a bit of a bully. She grew strong and dense, crowding out the other plant in the cabinet. It took 4 months to grow this plant out and that pales in comparison to the 9 it took my wife to grow another human (for the second time). Itโ€™s for this reason that the harvest report is delayed as I wasnโ€™t about to sample the all-time best of our harvests with my grow partner in the penalty box. All told, we timed it pretty close๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘ and further details will follow shortly. Update - Taste/Smell/Effects๐Ÿญ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿญ We agree, itโ€™s only a 2 week cure (so subject to change) but weโ€™re getting a smooth, woody kinda flavour and the smell is definitely coming out as earthy and somewhat herbal ๐Ÿ˜‰. Effects - itโ€™s only getting 4/5 lollipops because itโ€™s not cured yet and profile isnโ€™t fully developed. It hits pretty heavy and almost immediately. Starts very cerebral and sativa-like (which is interesting). It then shifts to a more โ€œbutteryโ€, relaxing, light body stone showing the indica dominance. I wouldnโ€™t say itโ€™s debilitating couch lock and havenโ€™t had effects like these since the last diesel strain we grew out. More mind bendy and less couchlocky than the diesel for sure. Exactly whatโ€™s been needed recently. Perfect๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Reviews. Nutrient
Nutes๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€ Ran at the very top of Botanicare's recommended feeding schedule the whole time and the results speak for themselves. Calmag is a must in coco and I didn't cut it back until about week 7 of flower. Jury's out on the additives like Karma and Hydroplex. I can't say they're necessary but certainly won't stop using them.: 1:

Method ๐Ÿ“Š๐Ÿ“Š๐Ÿ“Š She trained incredibly well and recovered faster from topping than the NL did to a fim. This grow was a slightly different take on a traditional manifold leaving the top growth tips from each 2nd node (first topping) in place. This gave us 10 main colas as opposed to eight and we also left in a few extra shoots which proved to yield just that little bit extra.๐Ÿ˜‰. If we had the space we wouldโ€™ve stuck with 8 monster colas. Instead, we tried to squeeze usable bud out of every square inch. Maintenance was a bit of a bitch - had to defo numerous times to keep the light penetration optimal. Which brings us to the grow light - I wonโ€™t say it was ineffective cause thatโ€™s just not true. But, if this one had gotten much bigger weโ€™d have seen some serious diminishing returns in bud quality. The tops and middles of each 10-12โ€ cola were dense and chunky but the lower buds on the outer branches were like giant fluffy larf pillows. Thankfully there werenโ€™t too many of these and I mightโ€™ve been able to solve this issue with some yo-yoโ€™s if I wasnโ€™t so damn lazy and โ€œ๐Ÿ˜œโ€ when workโ€™n on the garden. So, grow light review now that weโ€™re through a few cycles - vipar spectra gets a 6/10 from me. It will grow solid, quality bud but certainly has its limitations. Their manual says itโ€™s 450w should cover a space roughly twice the size of mine. I disagree and actual wattage draw is more like 200w. Iโ€™m gonna try to stick to photoperiod SCROGs with it in the future. Only real way to max out itโ€™s effectiveness. Big plus - itโ€™s about perfect for this particular space: 1:. Medium ๐ŸŽ›๏ธ๐ŸŽ›๏ธ๐ŸŽ›๏ธ๐ŸŽ›๏ธ Coco is now the go-to medium in lieu of soil when we grow indoors. I canโ€™t specifically say that the growth time is sped up compared to soil because Iโ€™m always growing something different but - she did recover very quickly from her toppings and the drainage is wayyyyy better. The fact that itโ€™s nute neutral allows us to dictate exactly what the plant receives at all times. IMO - more manageable and precise than soil. Include a regular diet of calmag and ur good to grow.: 1: Yield๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒด Oh man what a gong show๐Ÿ˜Ž. The book on this one says that youโ€™ll end up having to add support for her as bud weight becomes a serious issue in late flower. RQS is absolutely right, I had three smaller colas on the perimeter stretch for the last corner of light and they just got weighed down by the bud and pretty much fell over๐Ÿ˜‚. We like this. Now the numbers - i did the math twice (and while sober just to make sure๐Ÿ˜‰), you donโ€™t wanna do it, it sucked, so youโ€™ll just have to trust me: 1:. Total dried yield for the kush alone: 3.32oz. This crushes the single plant yield for any strain grown in this cabinet to date by well over an 1oz. : 1:๐Ÿ˜Ž. Total harvest yield across both plants: 4.99oz. This also crushes the record yield per cycle in the cabinet by a full ounce!: 1:๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿคฉ. The stats say an avg. of 500-550g/m2. Based on the rough size of my cabinet the avg. should be 131.25g/0.25m2.... our actual harvest across both strains - 140.6/0.28m2. Thatโ€™s pretty damn good and spot on with the specs: 1:.๐Ÿ˜Ž Props๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘Š A great many thanks to everyone who stopped in and cared to take some interest in this cycle. Thereโ€™s simply too many to name drop all of you and we truly appreciate and enjoy the comments, likes, support and feedback. Every cycle is a new adventure and itโ€™s always helpful hearing from the experience of others. At worst, we learned something new and at best, we had the opportunity to pay that knowledge forward. Canโ€™t say enough good things about this community - cheers GD, keep rockโ€™n the kasbah!๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘Š.00

10/17 UPDATE - finally! Today marks the end of prohibition in this country and the cultivation and use of cannabis is a legal right enjoyed by all who choose. Now the hard work of removing 95 years of stigma begins. TO ALL my Canuck growers - righteous! To all those still fighting for the same elsewhere - stay strong and diligent! THE REST of the world will eventually catch up to you! Happy 10/17 yโ€™all!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ŽโœŒ๏ธ

@Quexos, Iโ€™ve heard good things from people about flawless - no base of comparison myself and I switch out mediums so often that it makes for an expensive undertaking just keeping up with that ๐Ÿ˜‚. Iโ€™ll look for ur review and give it a shot down the line some time if u think itโ€™s worth it๐Ÿ‘

@TheBudWhisperer, I guess they are used to bring out terpene profiles. I have Flawless Finish for this grow. I usually end up doing a combo of flushing and finishers. I'm not convinced yet.

They are looking tasty! Trichs look about done. 2-3 weeks maybe? That will give you time to flush them out and let them bulk up. I've been reading lately that some strains get most of their bulk in the last few weeks. That hasn't been my experience yet.
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperer
@Quexos, if thatโ€™s the case Iโ€™d just treat it as something cool and not worry about it. As long as the whole plant doesnโ€™t go albino on you and stunt ur yields it should be fine๐Ÿ‘

@TheBudWhisperer, My autos are pretty close to the QB, maybe 19-21 inches. Its not a problem on my Cobb lights, but these QBs might be a lot stronger. There is no variegation on the Amnesia Haze, or the Dark Devil. Only the Royal Creamatic (recently), and the Critical Punch, which has been doing it regularly. That is the only issue that I've seen. There is no burning, or foxtailing. Everyone seems pretty happy.
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperer
@Quexos, gotcha Iโ€™ll check it out. Iโ€™m running a 450w vipar (so not nearly as effective as a Qb so I hear). Iโ€™ve got er real close to the canopy this time around at 11โ€. Not really any more height space left and so far no light burn issues so thatโ€™s a good thing.

First of all, lovely photos this week. That canopy looks great! I'm a little confused. Let me see if I understand. You topped at the 3rd node. Then you topped again at the 3rd node on each side. Finally, you did not trim off nodes 1 or 2. You thought about trimming off node 2 but didn't. Your mainline structure is very nice. I'm not sure leaving that node is a bad thing. I'm at that point in my mainline grow. I've done both toppings, now I'm training everything out to the edges of the pot. I was going to prune node 2, but so far I'm hesitant. The grow is fairly symmetrical, and everything seems to growing at the same place. I'm thinking of keeping node 2. That would give me 12 bud sites.

@TheBudWhisperer, I'm not really in a rush, but most of these seeds are mystery seeds. I have a whole stash of really nice seeds that I want to grow! Once this grow is done, I can do some experimenting with larger pots and longer veg times. My new tent has 4 autos in it, and my current tent will probably end up with 4 females. I should have plenty of herb to slow down and enjoy growing instead of keeping up with my insatiable demand!๐Ÿ˜ต

@TheBudWhisperer, I'm glad I didn't buy the 100 pack of 3 gallon canvas pots! I also might try out a few air pots. I'm not sure how sturdy the canvas pots will be when you are using the sides to tie branches down.

@Quexos, local dollar stores should have a lower gauge (thicker) rubber coated plant tie which is very similar. Iโ€™ll be using those๐Ÿ‘
Quexos
Quexos
@TheBudWhisperer, Those foam ties are serious! Where would you get something like that! I'm hoping the scrog will allow me to get the higher budsites to grow laterally through the stretch so the lower sites can catch up. I'm building it this weekend. I need to figure out how high above the canopy to make it. I did a little lollipopping. There was so much foliage I couldn't see the soil to water! I'm getting almost zero height though. She is an odd one.

@TheBudWhisperer, Thanks! Its not as easy as it looks, mainlining that whole tent! I lost one major branch, bending it down. I ran out of room in the 3g pots. I was using the canvas pot next to the plant to help with LST! I tried to keep the nodes clean and all the budsites open, but defoliating that mess was a PITA. Of course 3 days later you can't even tell anything was done.

TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperer
@Simdawg709, good question and yes indeed. I essentially treat it like I would soil in terms of watering frequency yes. Wait till she dries out before feeding her again. You can certainly still overwater a plant in a coco medium. When people make that claim between soil and coco I believe what theyโ€™re referring to is that unlike soil - coco has no nutritional value for the plant. As a result youโ€™re watering with nutrients pretty much every time when growing in coco. This is as opposed to a soil grow where Iโ€™d use almost no nutes when watering in the first 4 weeks and after that, use nutes only every other watering (roughly) for the rest of the grow. Specific to Botanicare - you probably canโ€™t go wrong with their suggested feed schedule but I would definitely still halve the nute dosages for weeks 1-3 and see how the plant does. Every nute co. Seems to have an overly aggressive dosage in the seedling/early veg. Phase๐Ÿ‘. I will also warn you - once you go to coco (at least indoors) youโ€™ll find it hard to go back to soil. Great medium to grow with๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž
