Welcome to my 7th grow, this diary covers a Blueberry Slushy by Roc Bud Inc. I am also growing a Strawberry Milk and Qookies plant from Night Owl, but that's in a different diary. If you'd like to see more details on my tent and air intake/exhaust/air filter system check out the germination week on my Strawberry Milk and Qookies diary.
I have an involved overly complicated method of germination but it's what works best for me.
I get the highest rate of success from it so I stick with it.
I start by putting my seed into a cup of plain tap water for 4 to 24 hours. I remove the seed when it sinks. I poke it under the water every few hours. This Blueberry Slushy seed sunk in 8 hours.
Next I put the seed into a plastic baggie with a combination of an unbleached coffee filter and a paper towel. I then put the baggie into a DVD case and place it next to something warm. I check it after 24 hours using a flashlight and shine it through the baggie. Once the seed has sprouted an inch or so I put the seed into a soaked peat puck and into either final pot or a big solo cup with potting soil. This seed went into a peat puck and into the red solo cup, filled with potting soil and with holes on bottom. I made sure to give the potting soil a good soaking before putting the peat puck in. I will not add any water for at least 5 days. I want the roots to have to reach out into the potting soil. I will closely monitor the moisture level by picking up the solo cup and seeing how heavy it is.
At this point of the grow I do not add any nutrients or amendments. Whatever nutrition is in the potting soil that I put in the solo cup is more than enough to get the seedling going and until I up-pot.
Week 1 Blueberry Slushy F5 from RocBudInc
Week 1 went smoothly. Soaked cup before placing sprouted seed in. Then gave another 8 oz of tap water on day 5.
Day 1 for me is when I see the first set of true leaves.
Transplanting next week...
Week 2
On Day 8 transplantation occured! From a red solo cup to a 5 gal fabric pot. I saturated the soil in the 5 gal before transplanting.
Other than that it was a quiet week. Growth was constant and seems to be more vigorous than her tentmate (SMandQ).
Week 3... I stripped the 1st node on day 18 and then topped at 6th node around day 20, using the roll technique.
This is a first for me, I've topped photos in the past using scissors. Basically the roll technique involves rolling the main top node with your finger and it just pops off. It went very smooth and the plant didn't miss a beat.
Watered this week on day 16 (40 oz plain water and Quillaja) and on day 19 (1/2 gal plus Quillaja).
That's about it for week 3!
Cruisin'
She didn't miss a beat after topping on day 20.
Watered on day 22 with 1/2 gal tap water, 1 teaspoon Recharge, and 1/4 teaspoon Quillaja.
Watered on day 26 with 3/4 gal tap water and 1/4 teaspoon Quillaja from BuildaBloom.
Other than that, just checking in on her daily. She's got amazing structure and has blown by her tentmate Strawberry Milk and Qookies as can be seen in the last picture.
Week 5, 1st week of flower.
Some major growth this week.
On day 30 she got her 1st round of amendments. 45 mL of Fish Bone Meal from Coast of Maine. I mix the product with a handful of soil and top dressed onto the pot, scratching it in to the existing soil. I then watered in 1 gal of tap water mixed with 1/4 teas of Quillaja and 1 teas of recharge.
Then on day 34 she got another watering, 1 gal tap water.
That's about it for the week, going smooth and getting big! The structure on this plant is fantastic and looks like it's going to be nice and large but also quite manageable.
Week 6
Another week down and she's moving along decently. Some nice bud growth this week. Getting some fade on leaves, and it's way too early for that!
She got watered twice this week, about a gallon each watering, plain water. The dry amendments from last week's top dressing need some time to break down.
Other than that not much else to report. I've got 3 photos started so that I can get a jump start ony next grow.. a Lemon Jeffrey Fem from Irie Genetics, a Cherry Sherbert Fem from Pure Breeding, and a Super Lemon Haze bag seed.
Week 7
Another week down in the grow tent! She was watered twice this week, about a gallon each watering.
I added a decent amount of BuildaBloom by buildasoil to one of the waterings. Measured out about 18ml and added to the water before watering. I definitely waited a week too late adding the fish bone meal a couple weeks ago. I am chasing now for sure!
It's all good, things are still going fairly well and the plant is packing on the weight.
'When everyting Irie everyting go twing twing'
Great strains! Top their and my personal two favorite breeders! Daz and Roc! I wished they collaborated on more than Scoopski. I look forward to your journals!
@Herbie101, thanks Herbie101! I've got my germ process locked down now! This plant is actually on day 40 right now and is a monster, I'll be working to get the diary all caught up soon.
She's coming along! Love your genetics! I have some Irie Golden Goat and Jack the Ripper. I love Super Lemon Haze too! I remember that was my first strong weed when I got my first Med Card in Colorado.
