@TheBudWhisperer, it does... if you haven't got rot your harvesting early...๐๐๐๐
Honestly I'm not worried about weight or yeald. I'm getting 10 hrs of daylight... so yeald will surely suffer... but I don't care... its all for taste... I'm going to sneak a taste soon. Thanks Bro ๐๐
Interesting medium - any chance you can elaborate on why straight Verm. and purlite? What are the nutrient holding properties like in comparison to coco? Lookn good dude๐
@TheBudWhisperer, just realize no one uses this that I know of.... it is necessary to keep an eye on them daily because like I said it will dry fast. And as they get larger you will need to water daily. ๐๐
@Teamdirtbag2, not at all dude - thatโs a perfect explanation and I totally see the benefits. Might consider something like that in the future myself๐. Thanks s bunch for the intel - one old man to another๐
@TheBudWhisperer, well I really am crazy... because I dont need any more bud at the moment. But I'm hoping she gets some color when she goes outside in the greenhouse. Under the California Sun ๐ค.
As for better than Coco??? I don't know. I have played with Coco, I didn't like it. It holds too much moisture for way to long.
This mix is something I came up with back in 1996. (Yeah I'm old)... in a drain to waste system. Because the mixture holds way more air than Coco or soil. I am able to supply as much water/newts as I want, I can water 4 times a day. And I will never have overwatering issues. Biggest problem is they dry out fast. Hey I know I don't explain everything... if you have a question just ask bro. ๐๐
I find the proliferation of strain names mostly silly, as the DNA result of these โstrainsโ would likely reveal we have about 20-40 total, but names sure are fun! And I mis-read this one anyway. What the hell is a Shiskaberry? I thought it read SHIKSABERRY and laughed out loud thinking it was some kind of opposite to KOSHER KUSH
@Teamdirtbag2,
There was a time when growers let cannabis do its thing unattended, and the result was consistent from plant to plant. Now we are told there are four essential phenotypes to every strain, and I have witnessed that growing purchased seed.
I smoked A LOT of Colombian red as a kid, and it never varied in appearance, aroma, taste or effect.
When my outdoor crop self propagated two years in a row, the plants grown from the 2nd generation seeds showed less variation. I have been mocked for calling Bryce Harper landrace, but it fits the description of re-localized, highly adaptive cannabis, that breeds itself to be the best it can be under its current conditions. She was bred in Holland under another name. Now she thrives in the conditions of the Mid Atlantic, only a few minutes drive from the Potomac River. Our nationโs father and renowned hemp farmer, George Washington, would be proud!
@growdoctordc, ๐๐๐ lmao.. you knew I would answer... I remember the only way to get an answer was to write "ask Ed"..... so what I always assumed was landrace strains were defined by area / latitude. So certain strains that were local to that area and that area only. Passed down from generation to generation or farmer to farmer. That was grown locally for so long that every male and every female plant was identical to each other. Such like old school Chocolate Thai, was always dark brown greasy with the exact same taste. Full of seeds ..... on the edge of brick weed. But if I had some of those seeds today... of course that were still viable. I want to kick myself right now. It never really filled out it was a sativa, But very distinct flavor one of a kind and every time it was exactly the same.
It was distinct.... and like that. Distinct to a certain area and only that area. Would be my definition. And certain plants I know did not originate in certain areas, they were brought there and then propagated. But to an extent that every seed is exactly the same. All females look the same and all males look the same. Kind of like people back in the day. You could look at someone and know they are German or Swedish you did not have to ask.... when it was ok to ask.... and people were not offended.
@Teamdirtbag2,
No doubt there are landrace strains yet to be discovered!! Thankfully! Probably hidden in the Amazon basin, Africa and the Himalayan high valleys. All the weed in accessible places has been compromised by hybridization.
Iโd appreciate your opinion of precisely what landrace means. Associated with iconic, exotic strains, I heard one explanation that defines it as any strain from anywhere relocated that thrives strongly enough to self propagate, by definition is landrace. The key being adjusting to relocation enough to grow wild.
Whether one agrees with the terminology, there is no denying the insistent adaptability of cannabis.
Whatโs your take?
@Teamdirtbag2 wrote โ...Such like old school Chocolate ThaI....โ
Where were you getting chocolate Thai? Did you serve in SE Asia?
Living in the Canal Zone, we saw everything, and Thai and Viet were rare and exotic variations on our central and south American standards. Only slightly different, but enough to capture our imaginations
I do taste chocolate in modern Chocolope. This plant continues to surprise.
Side note re the Zone: who had the best weed? Members of the US Coast Guard. They busted the top quality shipments and kept it for themselves
@Teamdirtbag2,
Thatโs remarkable! No wonder you can grow well! You grew up in the industry.
Iโve read that Asia is the birthplace of cannabis, and that the Chinese were the first to cultivate it. Itโs in your dna!
@growdoctordc, Back when I lived on Chulu Ranch, with my 5 sisters. The canabis was grown near Sixty Stone Mountain. When it was harvested they would truck it north to Li Chuan Aqua Farm in Hualien County. All us girls would travel north to the farm for work and free smoke. This is where we would package it for shipping. I loved when we would travel to the Aqua Farm to work. It was always good times. And when the harvest was over it would be hid on small boats and shipped all over.
When I came to America I brought 6 kilos with me. It's gone now. But I remember it like it was yesterday.
@TheBudWhisperer, Honestly I think it's the best of the bunch. She is gonna be some kick ass nugs... It really does have an unbelievable smell and I think she is ran her course. I really think I'm gonna like it. Just her structure alone is perfect. But it's gotta be some of the nicer flowers that I've ever grown. She doesn't have a whole lot of color but she's got a little if you look closely. It's gonna be nice I can't wait. I will probly chop at the end of this coming week.. Thanks My Friend ๐๐
@Teamdirtbag2, LOL you just hijacked my favourite expression - so true! I'm not sure why people think this is rocket science or something. Plant seed, add water, smoke buds. Simple.๐
@TheBudWhisperer, F*** yeah is there any other way. Lmfao ... it's not my fault. The truth always throws them for a loop. You know as well as anyone... I'm f***ing weird..... why listen to everyone else's bullshit.... experience your own, and make decisions from experience. Dont believe what you read..... experience it.... a plant will grow in just about anything as long as it has what it needs. Always remember Its a Weed... ๐๐
@Teamdirtbag2, Nice. Appreciate the response
Please let me know if you can shed any light on my grows. I will update them tonight or this weekend.
Will continue to follow.

If it were outdoor Iโd say put away the snips and let er flag fly brother! But itโs not, itโs indoor.... So Iโll just shut the f&@$ up and watch! Lol - good luck either way dude.๐๐
@TheBudWhisperer, yeah I'm sure she will. The autos are already there. And what a difference a day makes. The change that takes place is unbelievable. The sun is still the best light..... there's not a light out there that even comes close. You can actually see their happiness. ๐ค
@Teamdirtbag2, then U have my opinion. No matter what sheโll enjoy that locale for sure. The temps up here drop below freezing nightly at this point in the season so weโre all a little jealous in the north dude๐
