Cookies Gelato - Two Ladies - LST

daveHH Hey guys, I'm finally starting my second grow. This time I'm setting up my grow box in my garden shed, which I've upgraded with an exhaust fan. Let's see how the night temperatures will be, as it can easily get 5 degrees cold. But it should stay over 20 degrees in the grow box, we'll see. At night, I occasionally turn off the exhaust, as otherwise the temperature is too low in the tent. The exhaust turns on every hour at night for 5 minutes to prevent mold. I chose RQS Cookies Gelato because of its high THC content. In my first grow, I had Royal Runtz among others, which had a really nice effect when vaping, along with its delicious smell and taste. I'm expecting something similar from Cookies Gelato. I germinated about 3-4 weeks ago in Biobizz Light-Mix, nothing spectacular, so I didn't take any photos. Strangely, only 3 out of the 5 RQS seeds germinated, and 2 of the seedlings actually look good and have potential - that's fine by me since I ordered extra seeds to later select the two best plants. I germinated in a very small transparent pot, then waited until the root was clearly visible and then transplanted into a slightly larger white pot - also with Biobizz Light-Mix.

daveHH The plants have almost filled the white pot with roots, so they moved into the 12.5-liter Air-Pot that I finally bought. I'm curious to see how watering and such goes with the Air-Pots. In the Air-Pot, I have the All-Mix from Biobizz, probably more than 12.5 liters of soil since I packed it in. I've learned a lot about watering in the last few days. During my first grow, I watered until it started to run out a bit at the bottom, which was wrong for the plant, and I also washed out valuable nutrients from the soil. Now I water this way: I watered in three steps. 3 times 0.5 liters of rainwater at a rather cool temperature of 15-20 degrees; I didn't measure, but it should be about right. So I sprayed the surface, waited 10 minutes, watered 0.5 liters of rainwater, waited 20 minutes, watered 0.5 liters of rainwater, waited 20 minutes, and watered 0.5 liters of rainwater. That lasted about 5 days for the plants until the top 2 cm were dry. When the plants get bigger, I will probably water 1/4 of the pot size, so 12.5 liters divided by 4 = about 3 liters. The 3 liters will only stay in the pot without running out if you water in stages. At first, you might be surprised at how much water fits in the pot without running out. So if you have time for it, I highly recommend it! I decided to use a 24/0 light cycle since, as I said, I'm growing outside in the garden shed. Now in autumn, it can easily get 5-10 degrees cold there, so I need to have the lights on both at night and during the day. Since I've read a lot that cannabis doesn't need a dark period during the vegetative stage, that fits quite well. In the flowering phase, I will probably set up a heat pump in the garden shed; we'll see. I've topped both plants above the third node and will apply LST soon.

daveHH Now I've applied LST and during the second watering in the Air-Pot, I added a bit of fertilizer from Biobizz. But I will not fertilize for the next 3 weeks since there should be enough nutrients in the All-Mix. I would really like to add mushrooms from Biobizz Microbes, but they are very expensive and there is only one size; can anyone recommend it? Maybe I'll just buy Trichoderma from RQS first - has anyone had experience with that? From what I've heard, the plants like to live in symbiosis with the fungus and are therefore more effective in nutrient uptake, stay healthier, etc. Do you see the dark spot on the leaf? So far only on one leaf, so I'm not worried, or should I be? Update: The spots were already on two leaves, so I decided to cut both off. Does anyone know if that was stress from topping or from repotting? I rule out nutrient deficiency. Maybe she doesn't like the 24/0 light cycle?
