Hello. This is the start of my strain or my cross - Pinoal Kush. 16 Regular Seeds Thought I would start some old seeds. I tried Blackberry Gum. They didn't do well and couldn't tell why, till I measured the ph of the tap water that had always been 6.5 but it measured 7.5 That would be the reason they didn't do well. Next I thought I would try Lemon Pie Thai. These were 5 year old seeds and I adjusted the ph of the water and they were doing good but starting slow. I had a run of bad luck around the house (sewer backed up, leaky roof) and forgot about them for 4 days. When I remembered to check on them they were dry and shriveled up and almost dead. Damm I wanted to try those. Well, I've got an empty tent and want to grow something. I made a number of crosses 1 1/2 years ago in the greenhouse and should give them a try. To make this strain I took a female Amnesia Lemon by Barney. She had large buds and wasn't too tall and tasted like lemon. I found a good male of Northern Lights #5 from Dr. Atomic pre 2005 and a 2 paper bags I put the pollen in and put on the females single branch. We called that strain Lem-Nor. I grew these seeds out 1 1/2 years ago and took the best male of the Lem-nor and crossed it with my Pink Kush. I took the Pi -for Pink Kush no -for the Northern Lights #5 al -for the Amnesia Lemon female I started with. WE got Pi-no-al - Pinoal Kush. Sounds like it came from far away. Pink Kush is Indica Dom, Northern Lights is Indica dom 85% and the Amnesia Lemon is 85% sativa. So that makes this strain indica dom by about 75% is my guess. The Lem-Nor made large buds and tasted of lemon and was fairly strong 22% to 23% THC. So I'm hoping for some good smoke from this cross. I'm thinking of flowering for 10 weeks to see what she can do. The Pink Kush is covered/loaded in resin which I'm hoping to have it cross over to this new strain. When I looked into the tent this morning 2 seedlings have folded over at mid stem. I propped them up but I thinking it might be damping off. Might try some sulphur powder to help. OK. See ya later. Be Great. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 1 and the beginning of week 2 of veg. I didn't do a report last week because I was getting leaves and putting them under the bushes and trees I have for the humming birds that stay around here all year. People here put their racked leaves out at the curb and the municipal vacuum trucks come around and vacuums them up. So being retired and just working in the afternoons I was messing around with leaves last week. I'm happy to be growing my own seeds/cross. It seems a little more exciting than growing someone else's seeds. 😊 They are doing good. Got some brown spots on plants 1 and 6, but I think It's a ph problem. Somehow the municipal water that has always been at 6.5, is up to 7.5 lately. So I now have to measure and adjust all the water I use. 😒 OK. Be Great. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 2 and the beginning of week 3 of veg. Things are doing good in here. One small problem though. I'm finding small brown spots on some of the lower leaves. I think these are caused by watering with water that was to alkaline. I've noticed that the tap water that has always been 6.5 ph, is now 7.5 ph. I have to measure all my water now till get more familiar with it. So I think the brown spots are caused by this. I got a new thermal camera. I've wanted one for awhile and I saw one for a good price on Amazon on cyber Monday. So you will see more pics with it. 😀 Lets start a new Freak Bros. book to go with this diary. We've started book #5 printed in 1980. This book is a third printing and worth $15. today. OK. Have Fun. Chuck.

Hello This is the end of week 3 and the beginning of week 4 of veg. The plants are doing good in here since I figured out the ph problem that gave them some yellow leaves on the bottom. Some of the plants have Afghanica type of leaves. That is where the middle finger on the leaf is the same size as the other fingers. Some experts see this as a different land race than Indica's or Sativa's. Check out Anesia Seeds Afghanica to see the shorter middle finger. My original Pink Kush also shows the shorter middle fingers from time to time. Best wishes. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 4 and the beginning of week 5 of veg. Things are going good in here this week. No new yellow leaves since I figured out the municipal water is at 7.5 ph and I need to adjust it to 6.0 ph. Most cannabis plants don't show their sex until about the 8th week of veg, so we will have to wait a few more weeks to find this out. I like my new thermal camera, I can see things I normally wouldn't. Hope your liking the Freak Bros. One of my favorites comics/art. Keep growing straight. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 5 and the beginning of week 6 of veg. Still a few week to go before they start to show their sex, but some can show early. So I'll check this week, when I water, if I can see the sex of the plants. Everything else is going well in here. Got a few yellow leaves on the bottom of some of the plants, but you don't sweat the small stuff. Nothing to worry about, they do that in small pots. I like the thermal camera I bought. I can see the world, differently, through it. Have Fun. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 6 and the beginning of week 7 of veg. Had something interesting happen this week. I watered the plants earlier this week and thought I would check their sex as I go. The first 6 plants I checked were females. The 7th, 10th and 12th plants were males. I got 10 females and 3 males out of 13 plants. Wow, that's different. It's usually 50/50 or close to it. I once started 10 seeds of Northern Lights and got 9 males. I was hoping for 5 or 6 females, not 10. I'll have to get the other females in my main grow room when I'm finished the Double Chocolate in about 5 weeks. I've topped all the females and I'll try to get these females in larger pots soon. I've left the males untopped to see if they might develop into something I can use. Traits I'm looking for in the males are, Shorter, with the rub test, the stickiest and smelliest, I'm also looking at the leaves for that Afghanica type of shape. If I can find a good male, I'll start to stabilize this strain. The seeds will be a F2 cross, which has the most variety. Keep Growing Straight. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 8 and the beginning of week 9 of veg. A cold week on the west coast of Canada this week. It's going to be freezing. We usually don't see the very cold around here. Things are going good in here. My problem is, How am I going to flower 10 females. I might pick the most smelly ones and flower 5 plants in here. My main grow room has 4 weeks left so I might throw these extra plants in there to flower. I did the rub test on the males and I didn't get much smell on my fingers and they weren't that sticky. I'll leave them a couple of weeks to see if they are better then. So these are just average males and might not be used to make seeds with. I'm looking for that outstanding male to make my seeds with. OK. Have fun. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 8 and the beginning of week 9 of veg. We don't get weather like what we've had last week. I live on the west coast of Canada and the ocean usually moderates our temp, and it's usually mild. But last week a artic front pushed cold air all across the west half of Canada. The prairies saw some -40 c with wind chill. Around here it got to -10 c and we broke 60 year records. With the wind chill it got to -21 and I was very concerned about the little humming birds that I try to keep alive. I made years ago a hummingbird feeder heater. Hummingbird need liquid sugar water to live and I was just able to keep the sugar water liquid through the day. My heaters are a flower pot with Christmas lights in the bottom and a plate on the top. I set the feeder on top of the plate and cover it except for 1 hole with plastic wrap. When I brought the hummingbird feeders in that night they measured 1.4 c and 2.1 c. But then they had to sit in the tree till dawn. How did a little bird weighting no more than a couple of grams live through that? I'm constantly just amazed by these little birds. I meant to repot these last week but it was too cold to get the potting soil out of the green house. It was frozen. I'll do it this week. Ok. Stay Warm. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 9 and the beginning of week 10 of veg. I got in here this week and while I was watering I tested all the plants with the rub the stock and smell my fingers test. If you rub the stock fairly hard, not hard enough to hurt the plant and smell your fingers you can get a good indication what the plant will smell and taste like. Also if you put your fingers together you can feel how sticky or slippery they are and it's a good indication of how much the resin the plant will produce. What I found was that there isn't a best one. They all tested similar in smell and resin. So I can't just pick out the 4 best ones with that test. So this is a test. I want to see how the seeds I made with the male I picked out, turned out. Being a garbage man in my earlier life saves me money. I went out behind the shed where I store all the plant pots that I saved over the years while being a G man. I picked out 10 good sized pots and washed them yesterday. I will go to the garden center store tomorrow and get some soil. I like to use SunShine Mix #4. I picked out 10 short bamboo poles for support, that I'll put in the middle of the pot to tie the buds to. I'll put them all in this tent until the main grow room is finished (about 2 more weeks) and then I'll put 6 plants in there to flower and leave 4 in this tent. This is really a test to see how my plants will preform. So I want to see all of them preform. Ok. Be Great. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 10 and the beginning of week 11 of veg. I got in here this week and did some repotting. I went through a full bale of soil this week. These plant took 3/4 of the bale and I'm starting new seeds ( Blackberry Moonrocks and Panty Punch) and I had to make up 18 small pots for that. Only had about 3 liters of soil left. I also put in a bamboo stake to tie things to. I'll get in here this week and do some more training. 6 of these females will go in the main grow room when that room is harvested in a couple of weeks. That's the Double Chocolate diary if you want to look. OK. Be Great. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 11 and the beginning of week 12 of veg. I got in here this week and did some trimming/pruning. I tied down the branches and did some deleafing. I'm starting harvesting in my main grow room tomorrow. It should take about 3 days. When I'm done, I'll get 6 of these plants in there and leave 4 in this tent with the male. I'll let these plant fill out a bit more, another couple of weeks, then into flowering. I'm not going to take clones because I've still got about 100 seed of this strain that I've made. If I find a keeper in this batch, I can always reveg the plant. Keep Growing Straight. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 12 and the beginning of week 13 of veg. I'll be switching over to flowering soon. Probably this week once they get over the shock of being put in a different room with a different light. I feed every second watering. The plants look a little wilty because they need a good feeding. Ok, Be great. Chuck.

Hello This is the first week of flowering for this strain. Going to flip the lights to 12.5 light and 11.5 dark, tonight. If I remember, I switch the lights to 13 and 11 for the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th weeks and then back to 12/12 to finish. The extra light adds bulk to the buds, but there's not enough light to switch back to veg. I remember better if I write it down. Now that I'm 65 my short term memory isn't as good as once was. Almost finished one of the best Freak Bros. adventures. There are still 4 comics to finish that story. I'll find some good comics to show you during flowering. Ok. Keep Growing Straight. Chuck.

Hello This is the end of week 1 and the beginning of week 2 of flowering. Got a grow room and a tent going with this test. Things are going good in here. The room that has 6 plants in it, is under Mars Hydro lights and the tent is a Spider Farmer Light. I can compare harvests later to see if there's a difference. 😊 Last comics of book #5 of the Freak Bros. are in this weeks. So I'll look around for the next one, for next week. OK. Be Great. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 2 and the beginning of week 3 of flowering. I can see the flowers starting to develop, with some white stigmas poking out. Things are going well in here. I need to get in here this week and do a final trim/prune before the resin starts to develop. They need a few days to heal before the resin starts to flow and we need some more light penetration to make more big buds. I'm hoping they will be something good. Ok. Have Fun. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 3 and the beginning of week 4 of flowering. I didn't have time to get in here and do the final trimming this week. I showed the pic of the wood we scored. My sister lives in the highlands. The power company came through and cleared some trees from the power poles and we got some of the wood. 😁 So the plants got a little neglected this week. I see some yellow leaves on 3 plants but they are along the wall on the other side of the grow room. I'll give food for the next few watering's to see if that will clear up the yellow leaves. I can see some resin on some of the upper leaves so I need to get in here this week to do the final trim/prune. OK. Be Great. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 4 and the beginning of week 5 of flowering. It smells great in here. Like a sweet lemon pie, or some sort of lemon desert. As I did my final trim/prune this week, I did a squeeze the buds and smell my fingers test and they smell wonderful. Mostly they have a lemon smell from the Amnesia Lemon I started with. But the surprise smell was a sweet and vanilla, Bubble Gum type of smell adding a lemon desert type of smell to some of the plants. Some smell of almost straight sweet bubble gum with hints of lemon. Plant #9 is my favorite so far. The smell stayed on my fingers for minutes rather than disappearing fast. This one will be good. My Mother passed last week. 😞 My sisters are taking it worse than me..... Have Fun in Life. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 5 and the beginning of week 6 of flowering. It smells like oranges with some musk and a hint of cat pee in here. Sweet oranges. A couple of these plants smell of straight cat pee but the others have a orange type of smell. What a surprise. The first female I started with was Amnesia Lemon with a lemon taste. So with the crosses they've got a orange smell now. The plants are growing well and look healthy for the 6th week. My hearts heavy today... I gave my mothers ullage yesterday. I had 8 to 10 people come up to me after and said they enjoyed it, to learned more about my mother and to hear my memories of her. I had kept my throat cancer from her. I didn't want her to worry about me in the last years of her life. I've told the rest of the family now. I'm taking Rick Simpson Oil for it and I'm doing fine/good. It's been 3 years now that I've known about it and treating it. Keep Growing Straight. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 6 and the beginning of week 7 of flowering. Plants are looking good. Bulking up. Had to tie up some branches in the tent because some of them were heading for the ground. Buds are getting heavy too. The smell is changing too. Smells more like orange candy now, with some cat pee thrown in. I've got some regular seedlings in the next tent for the summer, and 2 of the males had open pre-flowers with pollen showing on the lower leaves. That's ok because the strain Panty Punch description says up to 30% THC so I don't mind if I get some seeds from this. 😃 Ok, 2 more weeks of flowering then some flushing. Yes I still flush. I get cleaner/tastier smoke if I flush. Have fun. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 7 and the beginning of week 8 of flowering. Well... they are going to get their final feeding later today and I'll be harvesting at the end of week 9. Because I've got a veg male plant (Panty Punch) flowering and releasing pollen in the tent beside the tent I'm flowering in. -See the first pics. I'll cut them down a week earlier than I had planed. Thinking about it, I'm hoping to only get some of those white immature seeds. Rather than leaving them longer and getting mature seeds. So I'll cut them down a week early. Oh well, that's the way it goes. 🤨 It has more of a skunky smell in here this week. Still has some orange hints to it. I'm liking plant #9. It seem to have a bit more resin than the others and it seems whiter too. The smell is of sweetish, musky, orange, skunky/catpee. Ok. Keep Growing Straight. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 8 and the beginning of week 9 of flowering. Flushed last week and I'll flush this week too. I like to flush, I get better taste because of it. I'm pleased with this strain. The buds are hard and have a good smell and the plant are holding up their branches covered in buds. I see a couple of branches heading for the floor though. That's my way of gauging how heavy my buds are. When I water later, I'll tie them up. This is the last week for these lovely girls. Smells like metallic skunk with some sweet orange undertones in the basement. But when I touch the buds and smell my fingers, I get more of a sweet musky orange skunky smell. Smells delicious. Not just a straight cat pee smell, but something I might want to smoke, with some flavor to it. I'll post some pictures before I harvest next week. Ok. Be Great. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of Pinoal Kush. That's 9 weeks of flowering. Ok. The girls are in dark for 2 days and I'll start the harvest tomorrow morning. Just showing some pictures of the plants just be for harvesting. So far I've been very pleased with the way the plants have preformed. Huge, solid, buds that have a ton of smell. In the grow room this morning it smelled, Minty. I'll be working hard for the next 2 or 3 days to get this all cut down. See you in about 3 weeks with the harvest report. Ok. Keep Growing Straight. Chuck.

The finish for Pinoal Kush. See the review for more info. I did a good job of picking a male that helped make big dense buds. I'll try to make bigger flavor next time too.
