Sweet seeds - NYC Diesel

Okay so iv tried to grow this strain before, I just wanted to make sure that it was actually alive after a while before I posted a diary. It’s looking a bit rough because I didn’t realise the fan was lodged and was pointing straight at this 1 plant for a few days so it’s got wind burn. Other than that it seems to be going okay but I forgot how annoying really indica leaning plants can be when they are in veg before they stretch. The tropicanna is a lot easier to keep looking nice.. They’ve both been topped twice (which is technically three times because I topped and then topped each of the tops - so 4 so far but by the time the little one I choose grows up to week 4 of veg (the nutes all stay the same after week 4 of veg so if I can get them all to that then I can connect them all up to a res and then by that time, the bloody auto will have finished. We’ll see…

Definitely a huge improvement over how it looked before - I was watering too much. I now just need to get the second tropicanna to the 4th week of veg and then they are all on the same feed schedule and I can flower - really whenever I feel like it but providing the mephisto finishes on time it should be about right. Obviously I’ll get a bigger yield from the plants that have begged longer but it is what it is….

Looking good - so many tops and coz it’s an indica it takes up less space than the sativa leaning hybrid…same as the difference between the orange hill special by Dutch passion and the frosted guava im growing but havnt done a diary for yet - im waiting for the fuckin auto to finish!!

This thing is fast turning into the beast i expected - I ended up linking it up to an improvised Autopot res so they are all on the same feed schedule now which is good. All apart from 1 plant which is the one that will be replacing the space where the auto is right now….im starting to get really annoyed with the auto tbh it’s taking up loads of space and is a tiny plant! If I get a z from it I’ll be surprised unless it MAJORLY puffs up over the next 2 weeeks. I’m tempted to just start the 12/12 cycle to save electricity tbh - the only thing stopping me is plant 3 isn’t really up to size or sexual maturity yet anyway so it’d be pointless.

The res that I set up ran out of irrigation solution and so the first thing I had to do when I came back was refill it…twice, once to get irrigate (if that’s not a word it should be) to all of the trays in the ten minus 1) which basically empties the tank so I filled it up again. It’s definitely a strain that doesn’t like not being fed, whereas the more sativa plants seemed to do better over the three day period - presumably when the tank had run dry. Anyway, I’ll keep an eye on it - I had to remove most of the fan leaves due to yellowing so I expect it to start putting out some more fan leaves over the next week or so. It’s definitely more tidy now but you can also see where iv been a bit brutal with it when LST’ing and have split the stem a few times. This is something I actually do quite a bit - not on purpose but it doesn’t seem to have any negative consequences so I’m not too bothered. I think it may just be a sign I need to wait a little longer before starting training. I have essentially ended up mainlining this plant by the looks of it. I’m pretty sure my irrigation solution is strong enough, it just ran out and I think the more sativa leaning plants coped a lot better than the smaller indica ones. I should definitely have repotted that sour guava. Thats gonna be a bit of a bitch to get back to where I was in terms of health. I suppose it’s swings and roundabouts because it will mean that at least the plant gets bigger. I mean even if I were to fliP to 12/12 today, it’s going to have a fair bit of vegging to do before it’ll flower. It may be that the bigger plants will fill up its space and it gets shut out but I’ll place it closer to where it is actually going to be placed when im next in there - next to the auto, because that’s what it’s replacing!! Update: day after, I went in to check everything and realised that I’d turned the res for all 3 plants off. So I switched it back on and it should start greening up over the next couple of days - the frosted guava has returned to looking normal so I don’t think it’ll take that long to recover…

It’s a bit mad in there but I do know what’s going on and am training through a plan. This particular plant is probably the lightest of them all but it’s improved DRASTICALLY since last week. Not only has the colour returned but it’s got new growth nodes that will no doubt stretch upwards like the unwieldy Tropicanna plant.

This plant suffered the most from the f up with the AutoPot system - also it’s the one nearest the radiator and so iv made the tollerences bigger so it isn’t on quite as often and yet still brings the right heat for the tent. It was looking A LOT more yellow before, have a look at previous weeks. I don’t think she’s showed any pistols yet but I’ll pull her out and have a proper look tomorrow.

It’s been like this for a while now but iv had problems with nutrition and so I decided to just see what happens. It has gone from yellow to lime green - it’s res change day today anyway so I’ll probably just keep it at the same week as I can’t see many hairs of many of the other plants yet because they weren’t sexually mature yet. Getting there now though! Particularly with the tropicanna poison, in fact - it should be at the same stage and yet….it is how it is. It’s gotta be the nutrition…. Edit: I actually got up early enough to pull out the diesel today. Saturday is my update day, generally. So you can see how iv trained her, I just cut off any smaller nodes that weren’t grown up to the same height as the main canopy. I also noticed a few pistols on the very end nodes, so that’s three plants that are in flower - even if one is a little ahead of the rest. I’m going to just keep the ratio of nutrition the same as it said to keep feeding the veg ratio for a week after flipping the lights, which I didn’t. So another week with the same ratio’s and slightly more Nitrogen for the plant I pulled out earlier - although, I think it’s quite a limey green coloured plant anyway…. Anyway, it’s looking good and has plenty of space to expand - tbh, the light does need coming down a little…especially as it’s such a weak light - either that or change my second light to one that fits the whole tent and zip tie the fc-e3000 to the tent frame in the middle…oh and then dim them. It’s just that iv grown a couple of rounds under a ts-1000 and there is DEFINITE room for improvement with regards to strength of cannabinoids produced - although having said that - really high THC products can be bought from the medical side of things. I’m looking to grow things that are not available on medical. Like I doubt I’ll ever get my THC %’s up to the 30%er’s that are available on medical. I have a good excuse for sometimes needing to buy a large amount and sometimes needing hardly anything so I’ll just drop the amount I buy when I harvest - freeing up some MUCH NEEDED money. It’d be nice to get to the stage that I was before, where I was fully self sufficient - I’d still get 10g or so prescribed though because I personally think there is WAY less chance of any actual convictions in court if you had a script and was only growing 3 or 4 plants! Med patients should be allowed to grow a few plants anyway, in my opinion. As long as you aren’t taking the piss! I doubt they’d waist the money on raiding me if they actually do any homework before getting the ‘big red key’ or battering ram for people outside the UK, they’d see I don’t meet with anyone, I don’t have anyone over to mine and I keep myself to myself. Just need to keep on top of the CF - to be fair I’m using a massively oversized fan and therefore filter.

Honestly, iv done sweet FA to this plant after the initial tie down to make the extra nodes pop upwards - it just means you get every node trying to reach for the sun instead of the 1 or 2 (if you topped once) , 4 (if you topped twice) and then you obviously get the side branches as well - which I tied down again to get the same effect again. This is the most neat looking plant for sure but it will also be the one that gets the least light. I’m not sure cranking the 300 from 150 straight 300 was the best idea in the world but the lights are off now and I’m super scared of Hermes (both the postal service as well as hermaphroditic cannabis plants!). I’ll try to set an alarm for tonight to wake me at 11.30 when the lights come on…

Okay so everything is okay atm but my shower isn’t working which is opposite the grow room so I just shut the door and put a visible dehumidifier in the hall. Seems to work to drown out the fan in the tent. Plant looks okay - think she needs a little more N still. We’ll see how it reacts to the newest res change and react accordingly - at least it’s all stopped flooding!

This is a very hard plant to get to - yeh she is a little lime and so I upped the N ever so slightly. I don’t really have a great amount to say about this plant - it’s very small for having veg’d for 8 weeks but still, hey ho - hopefully the buds will be rock hard! When I get -aid next, I am going to put on more electricity than usual and put back that 150w light, only this time it will be over the top of the frosted guava and orange hill. It’s either that, or I add in the long 300w tsl-3000, I may do that now that the fce-3000 is on the tent frame but then I’d be stuck with the same issue of it hanging too low. I would also have daisy chain and dim them.

It’s a hard plant to photograph because it’s so short, iv added the ts-1000 just above the diesel plant - I still can’t see any trichomes on her! So odd…it might just be that she is too far away, not far enough into flower OR she is just kind of a messed up pheno! Either way, it’s the exact same age as the Tropicanna Poison (which is like 4x as big!). I get that the tropicanna is a hybrid and the NYC Diesel is way more indica but still, it’s more about the frost - or trich’s. Odd… Iv moved the light too close to the NYC diesel to see what effect it has. Tbf, it’s only at like half mast (or half power so 75w) but electricity is so dam expensive atm and I’m on a top-up meter, so it’s like I’m on a timer my whole life. It’s horrible at the same time as buying up to 80g of medical cannabis at the same time as electricity is killing me! I don’t think I’ll be able to match the medbud top THC %’s in my grow room - it just doesn’t seem feasible but I know for sure the taste will be better - I’m therefore better off growing tasty strains, like fruity strains that you don’t really get the same taste of for the med side - although having said that the Aurora Delahaze is really tasty and 21% - it’s this type of bud I’m trying to replace really. If it happens that next grow is really strong as well, it’s an added bonus tbh but I’m expecting to be able to grow the cannabis I use in the daytime and buy the strong stuff for night. Once I buy another fc-e3000 and run it on 60-70% at maximum flowering time, it’ll be fine and I’ll be able to get the most out of the phenotypical expression - I’ve, it also means the more you grow, the less concerned I am about leaving it an extra week to mature seeing as I have flower. I still need a quieter internal fan as well - I will buy one but as I say, I need to get to the point I’m not spending all my money on medical cannabis but I do need to make sure I still buy some so that if I AM raided (touch wood), I at least have a leg to stand on. It’s too expensive considering you can grow better quality or at least tastier stuff, than you can buy but if you go to court in front of a jury and also have a prescription for it then I think they are less likely to convict you. It’s about compassion…but you have to PROOVE IT, which you shouldn’t have to. Edit 2 days later: I decided to raise the 150w light right up (lower than the one that’s zip tied to the frame but still, it creates no shadows!) Therefore the plant gets the strength of both lights. It’s on just over half power so an additional 100w approximately, which means 400w in total. I realised today that she has been improving in terms of colour for weeks and weeks and she is finally happy! She was crying out for P and K! In fact, they all are tbf - it’s just annoying that some weren't sexually mature when I flipped and so some started flowering and some took a few weeks to start showing pistols. I am a little worried that it really doesn’t look like she is showing any trich’s at all! It’s really weird! I shall zoom in in a sec. Oh well…we’ll see won’t we! It may be some genetic abnormality - or it may just of needed the nutrition in order to carry out the processes that are needed to enable trichome production so maybe now iv got her dialed in now.

So yeh, it’s been a pretty self sustaining plant in the sense, iv not really had to do anything to do it after the initial tie down in veg! It’s pretty mad actually - it’s probably the least work intensive plant iv ever grown, and I’m used to working with auto’s primarily if you look at my diaries. Thats going to change though…electricity has forced me back into the 12/12 crew. So with nothing having been done to the plant - there is something that’s concerning me and that’s the fact I can’t see ANY trichomes at all on this plant but its complicated by the fact that I also can’t really get to it very easily. To give you an idea the room is 1m deep and the tent is 60cm deep. It’s also backing onto the main window of the corridor and so I have patterned ‘hanging’…well…hanging over the whole window to block the view. Thing is, if I leave the door to the grow room open it lights my hallway up like the starship enterprise - I’m actually more of a star wars guy but hey that’s the saying! So i tend to remove the dehumidifier that’s on wheels, then lock myself in - I say lock, I just shut the door and THEN I feel comfortable opening the tend but by that point I’m having to be half IN the tent! It’s pretty annoying and the window is such an annoying shape I’d have to get specially-made blinds which would cost a lot so f that, when I had double the amount of light and the room lined with a tent I had no hanging whatsoever so it can’t be THAT bad, it’s just I have to be SUPER careful - that extends to having to be really quiet when I’m in the grow room or when I’m pouring irrigate into the res. I still find it mad that this plant was started as the exact same time and topped in the same way and yet the difference between this and the tropicanna. Also, you can tell the tropicanna and actually all the other plants have some sativa in them by the length of the stem of the fan leaves - you just don’t get them quite as long with auto’s and they are more uniform if they are ‘long stemmed’. I don’t mean thin fingered, I mean the stem that connects the leaf to the cola. Anyway…..not much else to write. Am expecting to harvest soon(ish) but tbf that’s a pretty boring phase because I always do a dry trim. It slows down the dry of the whole plant, I find. It just suits my environment. Well, the housing people have to give me 4 weeks notice if they are coming round and it’s due to be cut - with the one that actually looks like it’s due to be cut in 2 weeks so I THINK they are safe unless I get raided by the police. I don’t sell or anything and have no friends so it’s not like they can really come across me unless it’s via something else and they happened to see. I think the key to hiding in plain site is lack of smell, lack of tell and I can’t remember the rest of the saying!! Those two alone combined with the way that I’m hiding in plain site seems to be going okay. I must say that the spider farmer carbon filter and the 6” Mars H smart fan (extraction) and it’s been great. It STINKS when I open my tent so I am pretty proud of that. Iv previously gone with non branded cheap carbon filters from Amazon/ebay and usually the last couple of weeks are a struggle - it would be struggling by now. Mind you I did have like 5 massive plants and the whole room kitted out using a 125mm/ 5” fan. The RAM one - iv learned to steer well clear of that brand. Why would a GROWING company add a bloody light to light the whole humidifier up? It makes no sense. It was just something I had to break in order to use! Madness. Before, it herm’ed my grow! Tbf this one could be, iv avoided squeezing buds but I don’t think so. When they were pollinated, all different plant varieties smelled the same. I dunno; I guess we’ll see! Haha I can’t see any ‘nana’s or balls so think I’m good - for now.

This has always been the hardest plant to take photos of but the easiest to take care of!, I literally topped it, tied down each of the branches and the side nodes popped up and created more buds. It didn’t stretch like the Tropicanna due to genetics obviously. I have a feeling the buds are going to be really dense when they’ve finished growing through tbh. I also don’t think I’ll get popcorn from this plant because it just didn’t stretch enough to be able to get popcorn it’s all tops that are like 10cm taller than the rest of the plant. I just want to get this grow done so i can get the housing association round (after having taken it all down) to fix the roof and stop all the damp and mold before I start up again- it effects, essentially, everywhere but the grow! Iv been lucky that I only have to push an appointment back once which will give me the extra couple of weeks for everything to finish up. Oh and it’s not possible to get macro shots of this one due to how far back it is compared to the others!

Everything is going good - iv pulled out all the stops to try to get them to finish - the orange hill special just doesn’t want to finish up. Its annoying. Anyway this one is looking fantastic! Also the buds are ROCK hard on this plant so I think yield compared to how big the plant is should be good. I’m not sure how strong it’ll be though, it doesn’t look as covered in frost as the tropicanna but then none of them apart from the tiny guava did.

Sorry for the lack of pictures or really anything to say - they don’t see, to have quite finished - it seems like every time the pistols turn orange, it grows more! Same with the other plant tbf - it’s getting to the point where I’m going to HAVE to chop them down as I’m having to disassemble everything and sort of hide it - not the weed really but the actual tents and lights and stuff are going to have to be hidden pretty well. It should be okay as it doesn’t matter if it smells of weed coz I’m prescribed it. They are going to have to come down soon though…

Great! Probably harvested a little early but I’m on a schedule and can’t really keep it all up so the plants obviously need coming down now! I may have to pop them into the tent they grew in so I have better control over the environment but actually tbf, I don’t have a humidifier that works atm so it won’t really make much difference. I also can’t be assed! I am allowed to have my flat stink of skunk - I vaporise it, let’s face it - who actually knows the smell of vaped weed over smoked weed. It’s a totally different ballpark! The weeks been intense, I just needed them to finish and I still had to pull them down earlier than I would have if people just left me the fuck alone. Of course that isn’t the case and so I’m going to have to throw away a load, hide a load and spray a load of oust!
