First time growing Fastbuds. I’d had a bad run with old seeds not germinating from other breeders so bought some fresh Fastbuds beans. Placed in substrate on 15th emerged on 19th. Currently watering with BioBizz Root juice and microbes.
Plants have been growing steadily, no watering yet since initial watering post germination. Humidity has crept up in the tent since adding an air movement fan, keeping an eye on it and looking at upgrading exhaust fan.
Plants continue to grow nicely no signs of any deficiencies or nutrient burn. Gave both plants 1l of Orgatrex (2ml) and Bactrex (1g) and will give another feed towards end of week and water at all other times. Will start training each plant this week or next depending on if they grow enough to tie down. After updating journal my water sprayer wand slipped and took off two older branches on Jemima, I’m not overly concerned shouldn’t effect her too much as the growing tops totally unaffected.
Both ladies are growing really well, I have bent them over and tied them down. I lightly defoliated some of the bigger fan leaves that were blocking light, air flow and touching each other and the soil. Continue to fertilise once a week with Orgatrex 2ml per litre and Bactrex 1g per litre. Water for rest of the week.
Lots of training and defoliation to manage their size. So far haven’t had to remove any pots but I have been heavily training each plant. Adding PK booster to feeding this week as noticeably in flower now. Plant 2 taller because I snapped the main stem whilst training so had to leave it untied to heal.
Plant 1 has started to stretch and flowering has properly begun. Plant 2 looks to be a week or more ahead in terms of calyx development. Continuing to defoliate to keep air flow and trying to hold off having to move plants out so managing the space with training. Struggling to take decent photos due to the tight squeeze though. Gave first feed of Bio PK and both ladies really seem to be thriving.
Continue to defoliate large fan leaves to keep air flowing nicely. Plant 2 slightly behind in terms of development and has some slight nute burn but otherwise both ladies seem to be thriving and starting to produce some nice buds.
Plant 1 far more advanced in flowering than plant 2. Plant 1 is forming really lovely dense buds already whereas plant 2 seems nearly two weeks behind. Once weekly compost tea feed and all following watering with plain water only. No issues.
Plant 1 really seems to be maturing probably not much longer until she is ready. Plant 2 still behind but growing well. Continue to feed once weekly with compost tea then plain water all following waterings. Light defoliation to increase air flow and improve light distribution to the bud.
Continues to grow nicely. Keeping an eye on plant one for ripening, no amber on show yet. Once weekly compost tea feed still then plain water all following feedings.
Continuing with once weekly compost tea feed and plain water all following feedings. Plant 2 is starting to mature more and plant 1 is close but still no amber.
Did some major defoliation this week to fully expose each bud sight to encourage more even ripening.
Plant 1 is basically done, some amber Trichomes are showing up and I’m fairly happy with cutting her at any moment (I’m just waiting for the Herbdryer to be free.
Plant 2 has a much looser bud structure than plant 1 I think because I didn’t defoliate heavily enough earlier on in flowering. Her Trichomes are further behind than plant 1 also.
I’m still continuing to give a once weekly feed of compost tea but I am tapering down how much Orgatrex I add to 1ml/l.
Still no amber other than the occasional random one on a sugar leaf. Think I’m just going to cut as she is a week beyond the breeder recommendation and at this rate won’t ripen for another month.
Continue to feed once weekly with compost tea and water all following feedings.
Harvested plant 1 today will update with dry weight and photos.
Continue to give compost tea once a week on Wednesday. Will harvest plant 2 once plant 1 is dry.
Update - 1/3/24: final dry weight is 49g. Actually surprised at how loose the buds ended up being was expecting them to be denser and much better yield. Will be interesting comparing with her sister which was less heavily defoliated and see how different the yields are.
Plant 2 dried for five days then trimmed and put away for curing. 40g on scale after trimming. Buds were incredibly larfy and I’ve ended up with a lot of trim. Overall yields for both plants not too impressive, a few factors could be at play so too early to say what caused the decrease in my usual yields.
