11/27 Seeds sowed directly into final 3 gallon pots. The medium for this run is about 80% Canna coco brick and 20% perlite/vermiculite mix. I rehydrated the bricks with 2 gallons of RO water treated with mosquito bits, and then 3 gallons of RO water with calmag added. Lights set to 24 hours on for germination at about 170 PAR at pot level. 12/3 All 4 have popped up and look good. The pots were already a bit light so it was the perfect time to mix up a batch of seedling water and rehydrate the pots with a quarter gallon each. Tomorrow will be day 1 of veg.

12/4 Day 1 of veg. Humidity domes are gone and the humidifier is running, keeping the RH around 65% and the temp around 71f. I added some wire with loops on the ends to make sure they don’t fall over once we start adding some mass. 12/6 Day 3 of veg. Each got a half gallon of seedling water at a pH of 6.2. 12/9 Day 6 of veg. Growth has been great so far. Environment has been pretty stable at low 70s and 60% RH.

12/11 Day 8 of veg. Not much to report growth wise, everything is normal. All will now get a quarter gallon each of my week 2 water mix that’s at .8 EC. 12/15 Day 12 of veg. Pots were light and after a few small waterings I knew I’d have some salt buildup in the coco. I can’t really water until runoff every day, so this was expected. After adding 1 gallon of my week 2 water mix to one pot, I measured the runoff EC and got 2.4. Adding another gallon dropped runoff EC to a much more appropriate 1.4. I did this to all 4. I’ll try to do waterings more frequently after this but I’m at the mercy of my schedule. The light was adjusted to 215 PAR / 14 DLI.

12/18 Day 15 of veg. Everything looks good. Environment is in great shape, lights are good, no signs of issues. 12/19 Day 16 of veg. Pots are getting light again so I’ll hit the back 2 with 2 gallons each of my mid veg water mix. Initial runoff EC was 1.9, but after the full 2 gallons ran through runoff was 1.4. 12/20 Day 17 of veg. The front 2 pots got the same 2 gallons of water as the back 2 did yesterday. Light adjusted to 250 PAR / 16.2 DLI 12/23 Day 20 of veg. It’s finally time to get the autopots turned on. First, each pot gets hand watered with nutrient water until runoff EC is around 1.5. Now that the pots are freshly flushed with nutrient water the reservoir gets filled and the valves all get turned on. I expect tomorrow will bring droopy leaves while they adjust to the new watering situation, but after that I anticipate explosive growth. 12/24 Day 21 of veg. All plants look perky and happy today. I am running the humidifier a little lower now to maintain a low to mid 50s RH and a temp around 74f. Light adjusted to 265 PAR / 17.1 DLI.

12/26 Day 23 of veg. I did a function test today of the autopots to make sure they are calling for water appropriately. I came across the same issue I had last run though, with the pots closest to the door staying full the entire time. I originally thought this was a valve issue but to get a repeat with a different valve in the same spot didn’t make much sense. I looked around my room and found some things to shove under the pots to get them closer to level and now it’s much closer to operating properly. I never thought about the pots really needing to be level before and this obviously has a dramatic effect on the plants so I’m glad I found and fixed it. 12/28 Day 25 of veg. They have finally grown up enough to start some training. Each was topped and the lowest node was trimmed off, leaving 4 nodes per plant for 8 tops per plant. 12/29 Day 26 of veg. I did some light defoliation to uncover the tops and to get some better airflow. 12/31 Day 28 of veg. I just got in a pack of LST clips and decided to try them out with all 4. I also defoliated some of the large fan leaves and ensured no leaves were stacking on each other. Light adjusted to 21.4 DLI / 330 PAR.

1/2 Day 30 of veg. Almost right on schedule I’m starting to see yellow tips on some leaves. I’ve learned now that this is most likely rising EC levels from the autopot system. While this is definitely not desirable, it doesn’t seem to hold the plants back at all. They obviously need to adjust to the rising levels, and fortunately weed can take an awful lot before there’s any real danger. Also I’ve noticed an uptick in curling leaf edges. I knew humidity was low and VPD was getting a bit high so I reconfigured my room for an additional humidifier. This is keeping the VPD around a much better 1.0-1.1. 1/3 Day 31 of veg. Did a little bit more defoliation of a couple leaves here and there and some side branches that were starting to grow. Light adjusted to 400 PAR / 25.9 DLI. 1/7 Day 35 of veg. Big defoliation day. I wasn’t able to get in the tent the last few days and growth has exploded, leading to a big mass of leaves. I thinned out the leaves, focusing mostly on leaves that were stacked up on themselves, and cut down most side branches. The flip to flower has to be soon, I can’t let them get too much taller or I risk growing into the lights. Lights adjusted to 440 PAR / 28.5 DLI 1/8 Day 36 of veg. All 4 are perky and look much happier after their haircut. I turned on the lower oscillating fan for more airflow coming from the floor now that no leaves are in danger of getting sucked into it. So, with all 4 looking happy and their size pretty much where it needs to be I adjusted the light schedule to 12/12, making tomorrow day 1 of flower.

1/9 Day 1 of flower. Everything is looking good in the tent. There are plenty of yellow tips on each plant, but this seems to be a normal thing with autopots. As long as growth continues to chug along I’ll basically ignore any signs of high EC since I can’t do much about it. AutopotUSA does not recommend flushing the pots as that can do more harm than good. I added the trellis net but haven’t weaved anything in yet. I’ll wait for a little more stretch before I start using it. Light adjusted to 470 PAR / 20.3 DLI. 1/12 Day 4 of flower. The canopy was getting pretty crowded again so I did a little more defoliation and redid the trellis net to spread everything out. Only concern so far is that the back right one is lagging a little behind the others. We’ll see what happens over the next week or so but it may be worth adding in a riser to get the canopy leveled back out. Light was adjusted to 535 PAR / 23.1 DLI. 1/14 Day 6 of flower. I redid the trellis net today to get a nice even canopy all around. I’m still seeing some signs of low humidity with some leaf curling here and there, but nothing that seems too extreme. The reservoir was cleaned out fully today and fresh nutrient water was added.

1/17 Day 9 of flower. I’ve been noticing lately that my pH pen has been taking a long time to get to a steady number, so I finally got around to recalibrating it today. Probably should have done this a long time ago since, after calibrating, my reservoir tested at a way too low 4.7. My target is 5.5 – 5.7 so I’ve been wildly off for god knows how long now. I’m mixing up fresh water now with a high pH and will add it to it until I get to around 5.0 pH. I don’t want to immediately bring up the pH after it’s stayed at 4.7 for a while, I’ll work up to 5.5 over the course of the week. I also did some light defoliating down low and changed up the fans in the tent. 1/20 Day 12 of flower. Another round of defoliation done.

1/27 Day 19 of flower. The transition period is over and we’re now making buds finally. With all 4 plants the canopy was very uneven, and it was too crowded to make many adjustments. I also noticed I was starting to get some powdery mildew down near the bottom. Considering all this, I decided to cull the 2 runts and instead spread out the strongest 2 with the trellis net. I also did another round of defoliation to further improve airflow and hopefully stop the spread of the PM. In a roundabout way I think I’ve discovered 4 plants in a 3x3 is not optimal and will only be doing 2 going forward. Light adjusted to 670 PAR / 28.9 DLI. 1/29 Day 21 of flower. Removing the 2 runts was clearly the right choice. The remaining 2 look good and have loads of airflow all around them. VPD is a little on the high side at 1.4 during the day but considering the PM issues I’ve had that’s probably a good thing.

2/4 Day 27 of flower. The stretch has been in full effect and it looks like the tent will be filled out very nicely. The VPD has generally been around 1.3 – 1.4 which has been working well, although I’m still seeing some small signs of PM here and there. I only just today remembered I have a bottle of Mammoth Canncontrol stashed away, so tonight right before the lights go out I’ll give both plants a big foliar soaking with it and see if that helps stop it. 2/5 Day 28 of flower. The Canncontrol appears to have colored all the white pistil hairs an orange color. Also, the tent and really the whole damn house stinks like the stuff. I’ll have to hope that helped with the PM because I don’t see myself using this again, especially since we’re only just beginning to build buds. No way do I want my buds tasting like this crap. Light adjusted to 775 PAR / 33.5 DLI.

2/9 Day 32 of flower. I went in and did more defoliation and added a new trellis net to start fine tuning the canopy. Yet again for like 3 grows in a row now I found one of them has hermied. I suppose I have a good amount of experience with this now so I know I can keep ripping off all balls as I see them and the grow should still be ok. I think this was the final straw for the autopot system though. It’s too many strains from different breeders that give me the same results to be a coincidence. My res is only at .9 EC right now with a flower recipe and I really can’t go any lower than that, but I suspect the EC levels in the root zone are extremely high. Autopot claims a flush can be extremely damaging since built up salts collect at the top in very high concentrations so that’s out. I’ll be switching everything over to hydro halos for the next grow with a pump set up to top water until runoff instead of this gravity fed bottom watering. Light is currently at 805 PAR / 34.8 DLI.

2/14 Day 37 of flower. Everything looking great. The smells so far are like sweet berries, really cool. 2/16 Day 39 of flower. I found a leaf with the beginnings of PM on it. I really don’t want to spray the Canncontrol again as now we’re really building flowers, and if they end up tasting like that stuff the grow will be wasted. I’ll keep an eye out for now and will remove any leaf that has signs of PM, but if it starts becoming a trend I may have no choice but the spray.

2/20 Day 43 of flower. Last night I mixed up another round of Canncontrol and sprayed everything down. This is potentially disastrous as she’s right in the middle of packing on weight, but for the sake of the rest of the grow I didn’t feel I had much choice. I kept finding more leaves with PM each and every day, and I knew if left that way it would be covered in the stuff by the end. I hope the taste isn’t too terrible come harvest time, but there’s not much I can do about that now. Interesting that the PM is almost exclusively growing on the left, more tall pheno. The shorter one on the right has proved fairly resistant to it. Interesting effect of the Canncontrol is that all pistil hairs get turned orange. Didn’t seem to hurt them though.

2/28 Day 51 of flower. Not much has happened lately other than slow bulking up of buds. Both are firmly in mid flower mode and just packing on mass. No signs of anymore PM since the last spraying of Canncontrol, and thankfully the smell wasn’t nearly as bad this time. Also (at least for now) the vile smell of the stuff is undetectable so I have hope for the finished product. 3/3 Day 55 of flower. And just like that, only 12 days after spraying them down with Canncontrol, I found the first signs of returning PM. I’ll start off removing leaves that show signs, but if my last grow taught me anything about this it’s that removing all leaves indefinitely will not work as that will eventually stop growth. Sadly they are probably destined for an early chop, but we’ll see how fast it spreads. I could always try mixing up more canncontrol, but rather than spray the plants down I could selectively wipe affected leaves which would leave the buds untouched.

3/7 Day 59 of flower. The small signs of PM really haven’t spread much, so I feel pretty good about it not really affecting the remainder of the grow. I did switch over to my late bloom nutrient recipe after cleaning out the res to start reducing the amount of silica in the mix and max out on how much bloom nutes they get. The canopy is pretty uneven so on the tall pheno at the highest point the light is reading 910 PAR / 39.3 DLI, but the small pheno is only getting about 775 PAR / 33.5 DLI.

3/13 Day 65 of flower. While the PM hasn’t really exploded throughout the tent, I did find a big patch of it in a hard to spot area on the tall pheno. I removed it all, but I think this is the sign that we can’t go much longer. I decided to jump start the flush process by diluting the reservoir with plain RO water to get the EC down from 1.0 to .6. I’ll leave it like that for a couple days, then dilute down further as much as I can. As much as it sucks not finishing to 100% I do think it’s pretty damn close, maybe 1-2 weeks away. I clipped a small test bud off a few days ago and gave it a speed dry just to test it out and it was the highest I’ve been in ages, so at least the potency will be there. I lowered the light from 75% power to the next hash below it, and I’ll lower it again in a couple days. 3/14 Chop down day. It’s earlier than I would have liked, but after discovering more patches of PM I decided it just wasn’t worth it spreading anymore. I already had a quick sample a few days back that told me the potency is all there, so no real harm in ending now. Interesting thing though is that after going through both plants completely the short pheno had zero PM on it anywhere, it was all on just the tall pheno. Maybe that was just a particularly disease prone pheno while the short one was resistant? I’m not sure but it is a little confusing since my humidity was always on the low side and I had multiple fans running. Oh well, on to drying.

What an absolute punch this strain packs. This is by far the most potent stuff I've ever grown. I did grow two very different phenos, but even with the big differences between growing the two the final smoke is pretty similar. The tall one with the reds and purples hits like a truck immediately, with what I would call a nice indica leaning hybrid feel. The shorter, more green pheno is a creeper, taking around 10-15 minutes to really set in, but with largely the same effect. Taste and smell for both are about the same with a fruity, sweet vibe, but this isn't a very terpy strain overall it seems. And so I feel I have to knock a star off, mostly because in the end she doesn't truly have a standout smell or taste. It's a mostly generic weed flavor with maybe a hint of fruit in the background, but that's about it. Also a reason to knock a star off is that my tall pheno was clearly very susceptible to powdery mildew while the short pheno right next to it didn't have a single bit on it. Another negative was the final yield, which for both was right about 8 ounces (4.7 oz from the tall, 3.5 oz from the short). I've pulled 12 ounces from this same setup before so it was a little lighter than I hoped. Density is fine but I wouldn't say she's super dense. All together she's a little bit of a one trick pony. Massive potency and a great effect but no special terps, no crazy density, no big yield, and big differences between phenos. Man that's one hell of a trick though. In the end I'm very pleased with how it all went.

@Dmars, I’ve got 8 jelly breath clones that I’m going to run as a big group in the future. When it come close to finishing, I’ll flush 4 and continue to feed 4 and see which mature first 😸💁‍♂️🤷‍♂️ fuck knows what it’ll prove cos everyone’s set up and environment is different 🤦‍♂️

@PersonalSmok3s, I can't really figure out a good way to take pics of trichomes, but looking with my loupe I'd say both are around 75% cloudy, 20% clear, and a very small 5% amber. I think 1 or maybe 2 more weeks max would be the best finish time considering. Granted if I started flushing earlier I'd be closer to chop time, which probably would have been better for keeping the PM at bay since it's only now starting to flare up again. But lots of reputable people think flushing makes no difference anyways, so this is more like splitting the difference between both schools of thought.
