A somewhat busy week in the tent. Plants have at least tripled in size since the transplant and were looking healthy. I did see a little tip burn and some light green on the edges of some leaves. So I decided to do a foliar spray of some Big 6 Micros and Aminos along with my weekly IPM of EM5 and Aloe foliar spray. I also decided to super crop the main stem towards the top to get some light to some of the lowers. This was my first time trying this and I did crack the stem a little on two of them. The next day all all three were back to reaching. So I must have done a decent job. Some of the larger fan leaves covering the lowers were also removed. Maybe 3-4 in total. Worms were added to each box as I didn't see any when I transplanted and the top dress I did is taking forever to breakdown. Some Buildaflower top dress was added at this time to help break the food down. I got some Grow-Cal from Growing Organic to test out with a foliar and see if that will fix the tip burn or whatever deficiency I might be having. The plants have been looking great since everything I threw at it this week. This is why I like growing organically and the Buildasoil way. Everything is so gentle and it's hard to overdue it. I think the issue was maybe lockout from being two wet as I did start bottom watering with about a gallon at a time. So everything was just probably more beneficial to the health of the plant. The trellis was also set up. I want to get all three to that height and start filling it out. Once I get to that point I will flip to flower. I'm thinking two more weeks. I have been wanting to start a worm bin for a while now and I finally got around to it this week. Hopefully I can get some great castings out of it. If anyone one has any tips, feel free to share.

DE is not very effective with flying bugs. DE has to be dry to kill them. The bugs have to physically come into contact with it for it to kill them. Putting it on top of a substrate amounts to a muddy mess that allows very little water through, which means it'll take 30mins to water 1 pot properly. Encircling your grow area with some DE can help stop anything that crawls over it, but again.. it's a fucking mess and horrible for fan motors and such. you'll kill a duct fan if you keep spritzing that shit around. Don't vacuum it up unless you want to throw out that vacuum. it puffs up in a cloud very easily, so it's going to slowly ruin any motor that is exposed to it. Your lungs aren't fans of it either. I'd wager 1M USD on a bet taht DE vs bti with an ongoing infestation, because it is a foregone conclusion. 99-100% of the infestation would be gone within 1 life cycle or about 3 weeks with Bti. DE isn't even going too put a noticeable dent in the population in 3 weeks. Side bet -- 1 Sticky trap would catch more adult gnats than any amount of DE strewn around your floor or on your pots.. making a fucking mess and doing very little. FWIW, neither a sticky traps or de is going to be effective against an infestation nor stop one from escalating. A sticky trap will however speed up the process. Really isn't rocket science to see why it helps, Bti prevents larvea from surviving and traps kill adults thet already matured before you put bti down. Otherwise you have to wait for the adult gnats to naturally die.. why add a week or 2 when you don't have to?

Looking amazing! Last harvest my plants slowed their earthbox drinking in what was last their days. I think I was doing a daily fill of 2 gallons, and then they just turned it down and slowed so I knew it was time, chopped after a couple days to confirm. Keep her growing!

@A_Stoned_Llama, thank you! I am only giving one gallon right now whenever the reservoirs are empty.

Looking good. I'm adding 3 to 4 liters of water every 2 days with the earth boxes I'm running, water over the top with 4 liters brewed tea once a week. How much water do you use?

PartTimeUnicorncommenteda year ago
@burnout, right now in stretch I am putting about 2 gallons in every other day when the reservoirs are dry. Then about a 1/4 gallon top water with some goodies every other week. But only when the reservoirs are dry and I wait till the next day to add water to the bottom.

@Happy_Roots, thanks! I haven't used any fermented plant extracts yet. In earthboxes and I don't do much top watering and kind of nervous about putting it in the bottom. Just started doing the Buildasoil way and it is crazy easy!
