Does my plant look healthy? It is approx 13” high alll four of them... lots of new growth.... and how can I control height growth? As I am limited to 63” grow tent... I have done zero cropping besides removing a few fan leaves blocking light to lower
Canopy.
It's hard to tell under the purple lights, however the fan leaves look healthy and no burn.
If I was you I and growing with LEDs I would try to get as much spread as possible of the branches. Possibly looking at a trellis to set the canopy level at approx 15" (63" minus distance from plant to the light then divided by 3 because the plant can double to triple in height.. 63-18÷3)
Those Led won't get much depth penitration. So your best bet is coverage. You can probably top it or fim to get 4 terminal stems per plant, this allow You to spread it out under the net.
Just remember depending how sativa dominant the plant is it can triple in size. Better to be a boy scout and plan for the worst and hope for the best.
Those fan leaves are very Indica Dominant looking so this plant may only double in size, it just impossible to know until you flower out and see for the first time.
Got the trellis set for 20” another week of veg then flower time... still un sure which are male or female but pretty sure there all female by the looks of how there growing almost identical and how bushy etc they are ... pulled the seeds outta some purple Bubba Kush from the local dispensary.... I usually would be mad about seeds but hey I got about 25 perfect seeds for 20 bucks... PH levels are perfect with this natural spring water my town is running off of... temperatures are only dropping 2-4 Celsius at night.. and holding a steady 24 Celsius lights on... humidity is up when just after I water then it goes down to around 50 RH... in the last week they only grew vertical about half a inch but damm the new growth is killing it and catching up... still no cropping just LST and cut a few lower fan leaves to get some light downstairs... one of the fan leaves was 14” inches across........ nice fatty Indica leaves... couple more weeks Till flower time
This is 2nd week of flowering! I assume they looked good? They plants seem very perked up and active! I move a fan leave a min later it moved itself back To where it was... one of the four plants is really purple and the others aren’t all same strain ... got them out of same bag of bud.... let me know if I’m missing something please !! First time grow
Do the plants stop growing in height when in flowering? I am scared that my tent is to small..... week 2 of flower and they are 22” inches... purple Bubba Kush and to me seems like a strong indica dominant.. so my question is how do they look and what should I expect?
Hey there @LegalCanadian It doesn't appear your question has been resolved! The vast majoirty of plants will gain most of their growth in the first 3 weeks of flower before the hormones shift towards making pistils and bulking up the buds. The plant is trying everything in the first half its like to grow large to create as many budsites as it can to collect pollen from a male plant. Some types of plants like 'super autos' can grow to be EXTREMLY tall so I would stay away from the superautos. For the most part you can control and manipulate your plants height through various training and growing methods such as Topping, Low Stress Training, Super-cropping, or doing a SOG (12/12 from seed). I highly recommend new growers try topping there plants to get a wider canopy for more evenly distributed buds. Hope I helped resolve your question Legal. Please feel free to ask anything else! 😎
Buds are looking so nice!!! One plant is really purple and is growing a lot quicker then the other 3.... it is deff a mutant lol very frosty tops,,, LED Is not efficient on deep penateation on lower canopy’s
How are they looking??? The buds look nice, I’m guessing there getting pretty close, I have no clue when to harvest them so any help would Be nice!!!! This tent and 400w led is perfect! The smell is strong!!!!
Any help on when to harvest these babies would great!!!! This is week 9ish I have been running straight PH balanced water since week 6.5’.... there is still new white hair all on lowers flowers... I know I should be going off the thrichromes but what are those exactly? Help
Hey @legalCanadian! Trichomes are the resin glands on the buds and leaf of the pot plant that contain THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids. There natural purpose is to drive away pests and regulate the micro environment around the leaves. However we growers utilize them for their highlike and euphoric effects! To better see the Trichomes to know when to harvest I highly suggest buying a 12$ "handheld microscope" off of amazon with a x60 magnification. Overall everyone has a different timing for when to harvest but most people agree that having trichomes that are CLEAR is NOT what you want. I highly recommend a High ratio of Cloudy to amber trichomes. Amber trichomes give off a more couch-lock high while Cloudy trichomes offer a more mental and energetic high. I personally aim for the 75% of the trichomes to be cloudy before I harvest.
---- Now in regards to the White hairs(pistils) still on your buds some people will say to aim for a higher % of darker pistils, but this method doesn't work for every strain as accurately as the trichome method become some strains produce fresh pistils all the way up until harvest time. I highly suggest looking through a handheld microscope of some sort and aiming for a high % of cloudy trichomes before you harvest! I hope this helps resolve your issue! 😎
Ok thanks I just picked up a scope now to check out the trychromes!!! I know one plant looks way more mature then the others.... is it possible for one plant to finish befor the others?
@LegalCanadian, of course it is possible - look up "phenotypes" , some are quicker than others, some are slower, some are more purple, every plant is unique.... even on a single plant, some parts could mature quicker, some less fast, you can even harvest the plant "in stages", to let the rest of the plant mature. you got this bro 👊

hey man, those white hairs are what we call pistils, when you go for the chop they will all turn brown anyway. So when to harvest ? if you dont want to go off the trychomes you're not gonna be able to be real precise, and tbh you can't tell from the pistils (every strain is different, and they all turn brown) if you dont want to invest 10 bucks on a 40x + magnifier then the best advice i can give you is go with the reccomended growing time from the breeder and add 2 weeks to that - usually breeders under report the amount of time you need for a harvest... Otherwise trychomes are really your best bet. Closer to the time you want to time the chop based on your drying room's humidity : <40% chop the day after your last watering; 40-60% chop two-3 days after the last watering; 60+ three to four days after. Then take the plant whole, hang it upside down to dry. This allows the bad + harsh tasting photosynthesis chemicals to distribute from the bud towards the stalks, stems and leaves that you remove, giving you a smooth tasting smoke. @LegalCanadian, yo yo yo i had the same as you bro, so the main idea is that plants are very sensitive to light, what you want to do is maintain the light schedule with any kind of light you have. So a lantern... i mean ok why not, maybe macgiver a reflector so the light hits the plants in a good way. Otherwise hook up a normal house light up to a car battery or something like that just so it's as strong as possible... I'm guessing you dont have back up power like a 1990s UPS or something? the lantern thing will actually work bro, trust... it doesnt need to be that strong, the plants wont even suffer that much in a day. this too will pass bro. 🚀

@LegalCanadian, absolutely it is possible, bro. there's what's called phenotypes aka "general types" of plant coming from the same strain with it's own characteristics such as more branches, different colors, or even maturing quicker. so for example if you cross a lemon with a cheese and make 100 seeds, you can get 20 seeds with a more lemon characteristic, 60 seeds with an average lemon-cheese character, and 20 seeds with a more cheesy profile. get it ?
This bubba is gonna keep stretching for a while, I wouldn't be surprised if it became huge. Seems you have a cool pheno though : yours is getting purple strongly and early, usually that actually happens later. So you might have a mutant bubba kush on your hands, You're already SCROGing so at this point all you can do is pray really. Later on if and when you have to make a decision you can kind of bend the stem so the flowers keep growing but at an angle just use some duct tape as a bandage on the damaged part of the stem, wierd but it works ! This is gonna be a cool pheno to follow ! good luck 🚀
Im no pro but if these were my plants this is what I would do:
Try push it to 6 weeks if possible. When I’ve had this happen I just try and keep her going as long as possible. I watch the leaf colour and as long as the sugar leaves are not turning yellow or brown (which affects the bag appeal) the buds will keep adding weight. Once most of the big fan leaves have yellowed then it’s time to chop. Getting a hand held scope to look at the trichomes is a more presise way of doing it at others have mentioned above.
Hi, You said LED is not so efficient for Light Penetration. I will say yes and No.It always depends on the Quality/ strength of the Led. LIght companies title their grow lamps for example as::::xl600::: but its only 400 watt.... and it depends on the Quality of theLED. For your grow (if possible) add a COB-Led and the LIghtquality will rise
PH kit!..invest in one and do some reading up on your different prefered PH ranges on your growing medium (soil, soilless or hydro). Or you could invest in some PH Perfect technology (Advanced Nutrients); This would take some time out the feeding process...just mix and water. I still use a PH kit myself....
