Grow Diary: Phase 1 - Germination
Planned Number of Plants: 9. However, due to uncertainty about the germination rate, all 10 seeds from the packet were germinated. Remarkably, all 10 seeds successfully sprouted.
Note: One of the plants will be removed from the tent at the end of the vegetative phase.
During the first week of germination, the conditions were as follows:
• Lighting: Only one of the two available lamps was active, dimmed to 10% power. The distance to the plants was approximately 35-40 cm.
• Humidity: Maintained at 75% at night and 73% during the day.
Adjustments in the Second Week:
• From the second week, the second lamp was also turned on at 10% dimming, and both lamps were raised slightly as some plants showed signs of stress. Although it cannot be proven with 100% certainty that the issue was due to light intensity, the plants recovered after this adjustment.
• Humidity: Maintained at 73% at night and 70% during the day.
Adjustments in the Third Week:
• The lamps were dimmed to 20% and positioned approximately 60 cm away from the plants.
• Humidity: Maintained at 70% at night and 67% during the day.
Soil and Nutrients:
• For the initial two weeks of the seedling phase, "Seedmix" from Canna (first 11 days) and "Canna Terra Professional" (last 10 days of germination) was used.
• Starting from the first week of the vegetative phase, the plants will be transplanted into slightly larger pots with Terra Professional Plus soil.
• Fertilization Plan: No fertilizer has been used so far. There is also no plan to add fertilizer until the end of the vegetative phase and even during the first weeks of the flowering stage.
The control of light and humidity was managed using the GrowBase Pro Controller system from Growcontrol.
Grow Diary: Phase 2 - Week 1 of the Vegetative Phase
• Number of Plants: 10 (Note: One plant will be removed from the tent at the end of the vegetative phase).
• Lighting: For this phase, the dimming of the lights was increased from 20% to 40% to support the growing light needs of the plants.
• Humidity: A gradual reduction in humidity has been initiated. Currently, the humidity is maintained at 55% during the day and 58% at night. This adjustment is crucial for preparing the plants for the later flowering stage.
• Repotting: The plants were repotted from 1L Air-Pots to larger 3L air-pots. The new soil used is Canna Terra Professional Plus, which ensures optimal nutrient provision and water retention.
• Observations: The plants appear stable and healthy. There are three phenotypes that are growing slightly smaller. This observation will continue to be monitored in the second week.
• Watering: Currently, about ~200ml of water is manually administered daily. This amount is critical to avoid overwatering while ensuring the plants receive sufficient moisture. Additionally, the plants have been treated twice with a water mixture containing salicylic acid and ChiProPlant. In the future, the salicylic acid will be reduced due to the appearance of white spots, which are, however, easily washable.
• Future Planning: For repotting in the flowering phase, a transition to 15L AutoPot pots is planned. This will make watering more efficient and provide more room for root growth.
Grow Diary: Phase 2 - Week 2 of the Vegetative Phase
• Number of Plants: 9
• Lighting: The lighting remains unchanged at 40% to continue supporting the growing light needs of the plants.
• Humidity: Previously maintained at 50% during the day and 53% at night. Unfortunately, the humidifier broke recently, and now the humidity levels are slightly below 50%. Monitoring the situation closely to minimize stress on the plants.
• Repotting: No changes since the last repotting into 3L Air-Pots.
• Observations: Some plants showed signs of stress, such as drooping leaves and the yellowing of lower leaves. Monitoring closely for any additional signs of stress due to the recent humidity issues.
• Watering: The daily water amount has been adjusted to ~300-350ml. Fertilization was started using Canna products according to the recommendations for Canna Terra Professional Plus, which led to a slight recovery.
• Future Planning: The transition to 15L AutoPot pots is still planned for repotting in the flowering phase. This is intended to make watering more efficient and provide more space for root growth.
• Challenges and Actions: Due to signs of stress in some plants, fertilization was commenced, resulting in a slight recovery. Currently addressing the issue of the broken humidifier and its impact on the plants. Hopeful that the third and final week of the vegetative phase will proceed without further issues.
@SicilianMedusa, also mich haben die Lampen nicht enttäuscht buds sind bei mir etwas kleiner als mit hps aber dafür viel mehr Geschmack und trichome
Ja schaue sicher mal vorbei bei deinen grows 😎
@cheech87, Thank you, I'm using these lamps for the first time. After not cultivating for 9 years, I have transitioned from High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) lamps to LED, starting with these impressive SANlight EVO 1.5 5-120 twins. This is my first grow after a 9-year hiatus, and also my first attempt with LED, UV light, and monitoring the Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD). I plan to provide weekly updates from now on. I will publish a summary of the first week of vegetation in the coming days.
@Lemonhazelover, Thank you, stay tuned. In the next few days, I will report on the first week of vegetation. The plants are looking good :) I am excited and feel like I already have a good handle on this grow
