Strain Choice: For this very first run of 2024 i'm going with Sour Ripper from Ripper Seeds from Spain. Me and my wife are long time sativa lovers and i decided to grow myself some classics. I love sour diesel but it is/was hard to get in europe, so i'm really looking forward to see what Ripper Seeds has to offer. Since this run will be finished at the start of summer, i hope Sour Ripper will be the perfect smoke for those long and hot summer days. I'm hyped and ready to go!

Strain description:
After much effort we can introduce into our catalog one of the varieties most appreciated by genetics collectors. We have worked to get one of the few Sour Diesel lines in a feminized version, keeping the main qualities of a good Sour D: Taste and power.
Sour Ripper has a sativa structure with a long internode, little foliage and a more compact and appetizing head than the original Sour Diesel with which we work. Its flowering period is 65-70 days. The most “undergrown” flavor of the United States available for your collection.

I decided to try to rank my grows and their outcomes. So i can have a list of the strains i can consider of growing some again in the future. So this is just for personal tracking. I'm curious where "Sour Ripper" will sit after this grow.
1. Green Crack Punch (RQS): Delicious berry flavours, rock hard buds, sexy bag appeal, adaptable and great high. First grow was a lucky punch! Want to do it again, just better and more of all of that.
2. Ripper Haze (Ripper Seeds): Smaller buds, strong hazey and lemony aroma, hits hard and is long lasting, the perfect high for my taste. Ideal companion for parties, social gatherings and when you just want to have a good fun time. I want to run it again and make it even better!
3. Pineapple Express (Barneys): Awesome and unique smell and taste, mellow high. Can get a bit stoney, but the flavours are where its at. Wanna try the photoperiods for taste.
4. Hulkberry (RQS): Taste is a bit random, high is awesome, buds are not as tight, bag appeal is meh.
5. Crystal Meth (Fastbuds): That grow was really fucked up. Unique high, interesting taste, nice colour. Not wanna try it again.
Day 0 - 21.01.2024: Since my lovely wife surprised me with a little bit bigger tent, we got a bit more room to work with! ♥️ So i aim to grow two strains this run! Yippie! I soaked the seeds in water over night and put them directly in the soil today. We popped three seeds and hope for two to take for the ride. For the starter pots we go for 90% BioBizz Lightmix and 10% BioBizz Worm Humus. Since it is still pretty cold, we got them a seedling heating mat to have their roots warm and cozy. Also i sprinkled some Great White - premium mycorrhizae into the pots. So lets hope these beans will develop into some healthy seedlings! Fingers crossed!
Day 1: The first little ripper seems to have successfully germinated and is currently fighting her way up. That makes me happy to see. Hope the others will follow soon! 1/3 so far! I love it!
Day 3: All of them have germinated. One is looking good, one is not over groundlevel and the last one is wearing a helmet und pushed itself out of the soil. I could just throw her away, but i tried to rebury her and hope i did not damage the roots too much. We will see if ut works, but i'm not counting on this one! 😂
Day 5: The third one sadly did not make it up, so i threw her out. We got our two candidates we'll try to ger through their lifecycle. Temps are between 21 and 25°, RH is between 65 and 75%, get got some airflow and only get misted with phd water. So we just chill and wait for them unfolding their little green wings.

Day 8: So we arrived at the second week of this Ripper Seeds run and we had to leave one seedling behind. I'm happy with the two, one of them is a bit wrinkley but i hope the next leafs are gonna be normal. Besides that they seem fine. For this week we'll try to keep the environment stable with RH between 65 and 75%, temps between 20 and 25° and some airflow in the tent. I'll continue to mist them with pure ph'd water and maybe give them a few sips of water with root juice and some bacteria. As long as they're happy, i'm happy. 😊
Day 10: The rippers are making some mileage. They just started their second set of leaves and are developing fine. They are shorter than their sweet seed siblings, but just a tad behind. Ms. Wrinkles seems to develop normal leaves now. This is calming my nerves, i was a liiiittle bit worried. But its all good. These are happy seedlings for my taste. 👍
Day 12: They are going good. I'm gonna prepare the new pots for them, because the sweet seeds are aoon due to transplant. So the rippers are gonna move in as well. I hope they'll be fine with that. 😁

Day 15: Entering the third week of this run, i made new beds for the little ladies and repottet them to their final 12l/3gal pots. The soil is 80% BioBizz Allmix and 20% Worm Humus. The lower third of the soil got some additional perlite for better drainage.
For this week, i aim to let them settle in and feel at home. So we don't change settings and will be still aiming for that 65 to 75% RH, temps around 25° and some airflow. I'll up the light intensity to 40% in a few days, when they had some time to adjust.
I don't plan to feed them additional nitrogen for the next two weeks minimum. The Allmix with the worm humus should have more than enough nutrients to get them by for quite a while and their baby leaves are still lish and green. So they should have plenty of storage. But i'll still add Root Juice and bacteria to their water to promote them some juicy root development.
I'm gonna switch from misting to regular waterings this week, but we start with little doses to avoid overwatering.
Plant training is not going to happen until their topping which may happen in the next week. Instead we practice grower training and try to keep our hands of the little ladies as much as possible.
They are currently working on their third set of leaves, we'll wait until their sixth set is up to top them down to the third node again. So far so good. The little rippers are a bit behind their sweet seeds sisters, but only a tad. We'll see how it goes.
Day 17: The girls are doing fine and are progressing well. I upped the light to 40% and sometimes the temps get a bit high (28-29°), but i hope i could fix that with increasing the ventilation. And as soon as they drink more and more water will be present, temps should go down a little. At the moment its quite stable at 25-26° again, which is almost perfect.
They got 0.1l of water today yesterday. Started to introduce them to regular sips of water instead of spraying.
Day 19: My humidifier did not run yesterday, so it was a bit hot and dry what lead to some heat stress. But i guess they'll be fine again soon. A totally unnecessary mistake, but what happened has happened. Besides that they are doing fine and show some decent growth. They got another 0.1l of water.

Day 22: I'm very happy how the rippers are developing. They are not as big as their sweet seed sisters, but very solid for their age. They seem to be pretty happy with their new homes and seem to have settled in.
I'll not feed them any nitrogen for this week. I guess i start slowly after the topping. But they got their new pots a week ago and there should be still enough nutrients in the soil to feast on. So this should be the last week without fertilizer for them.
Watering will be 0.2l per day from this week onwards and we'll see how they take it. But i'm quite positive that they developed enough roots to take that up. I'll be cautious and watch them closely.
So i think its time to make some plans how we approach this run in terms of timing. This weekend (or when they reach their sixth/seventh node), i'm gonna top them down to their third node and set up a little base for them to grow from.
After the topping i want to have at least another three weeks of veg. I think one is needed to recover, then two for nice and rapid growth before we switch to flower.
And i decided to do a preventive flush when switching lights from veg to flower. Because in all my photoruns (just two, but its all the experience i got), i ran into issues at the start of the flower and i want to test if a flush prevents that.
But i like how its going, i'm hoping for a smooth cruise all the way. But i guess we all do 😁 Happy growing folks! 🌱🌞🍀
