Decided to "flush" at week 5 to let the girl absorb as many nutes before the bloom nutes go into effect. Unfortunately, the distilled water I use ph's at 7.5..... so I used pH down to get the flush water down to 6.5 before I watered. Stupid move... within a day i saw bright red spots at the ends of my leaves.
I tested the runoff after flush day 2 and it registered 4.5!
After some research, I realized you should NEVER ph down any feeding with FFOF because of how hot it is.
However, she has achieved her bonsai form and all the bud sites are flowering now at day 38 from seed. Next feed will be a stepped down flower nute schedule to make sure Calcium gets reintroduced.
Wish me luck.
if the soil is hot it means it is acidic.. ph up would be the call.. ph down adds even more acid..
so the 6.5 im adding ph down to get to is coming out as 4.5 in the runoff.. which means the water is coming out super acidic.
Can you explain a bit more about the Ph down issue? My assumption would be if the soil was hot, you would need to ph down to compensate for that. But now I see that my assumption is incorrect. 🙂 Thanks.
