First week in, one seedling is sprouting faster than the other.
The pot seems to be covered in aphids. A mild bleach solution has been sprayed onto the pot.
A mild soap/oil mixture will be tried next.
I have separated the two seedlings into their own pots. They were stretching out quite a bit, got to about 70mm in hight.
I buried them about 2 thirds of their height into the soil.
I have also put them out into more light - seem to be growing a little slowly.
Those damn lil aphids are persistent though, they keep coming back, despite trying multiple options. next step is a pesticide.
Also added some perlite and Coco choir to the soil mix, for some added oxygen.
soil - 40%
perlite - 30%
Coco - 30%
2 seedlings are getting a little bigger, now that they have stopped stretching. Re-potting them a bit deeper has certainly helped.
Aphids are still here and there, but their numbers have decreased significantly.
I have ordered some smaller grow lights for some experimenting, waiting for them to cross the seas.
Hoping to have them running 24h during the veg, to help them grow a little faster.
Two little ones are beefing up a bit now.
I have kept them out in the sun and they are doing well.
They have stopped stretching and they're getting a few more leaves.
No signs of aphids either.
**I have purchased smaller grow lights, to fiddle with. Will see if I can get them going soon, and put one tree under the grow light and leave the other in the sun. Will see which one does better, out of interest lol
Little shrubs have gained some more weight.
Had to keep them indoors for a day or three due to high heat/rain and hail.
Also found some other little things growing in the soil, but I have since removed them.
Grow lights are ready, but will be saving them for the colder months.
This week's update:
getting bigger by the day. Had 3 days of rain and had them indoors, under the grow lights.
It didn't look like they were growing much under the lights, but I saw very small leaves starting to grow from the main stem and they had definitely grown since my last update, so I'm happy.
Both my plants are growing quite nicely. They're both getting a few more leaves and getting bigger by the day.
Trying out a drip irrigation system for a week or so, see how that goes.
