After planting the LetPot irrigation system completely failed. Replaced all lines but the pump claimed the res was empty.
Returned it.
Replaced with 250gph submersible pump and irrigation fittings from HomeDepot. Working great.
There is no timer but constant flow is OK over hydroton.
Unfortunately the seedlings got jostled quite a bit when i took down, then replaced, took down again, and installed new irrigation system.
But these seeds are vigorous!
Wow. Sudden explosion of growth this week. Lots of short little branches. Fans are so big and the plant is so dense that i can not leaf-tuck.
You can see that the right side plant is a little bit behind due to disturbance during irrigation reconstructoon.
Smells like pink bubble gum.
More explosive growth. And vertical growth.
Meph staff told me they would be cabbage bushes.
Pistills are showing.
Gave a light defoliation and cleaned up a little bit of inner growth.
There was an irrigation emergency earlier this week. Damage was done, especialy the middle plant. They have all recovered but the middle plant is several inches smaller than the other 2.
Lots of blooms. I am excited to see what the next 5-6 weeks will bring.
Smells lovely.
Day 45 cleaned up some leaves damaged by the drought.
I added a net but honestly the plants are too stocky and dense to separate the limbs much.
If my body let's me I will go in with some soft ties in 2 days to see what I can do.
These seeds are vigorous! Gotta say my first experience so far with mephisto strains is very positive.
2 days ago they got a complete res change and minor defoliation of the worst leaves.
Put up a net and a few days later tried some bondage but honestly the limbs are short and thick so lst is limited. Did spread them out a little bit.
The talkest is about 12" from the light. No sign of light stress so i will leave it there
No hint of algae since adding the Mykos
Today they got a 2 gal top up at 5.9rH and 850ppm because both values have been creeping up.
Room smells nice :-)
They are coming along nicely.
The 2 leftmost plants are very purple and the one on the right is green.
2 Purple phenos?
Evidence of CalMag deficiency. Likely from the pH crash a few days ago. That was corrected and additional calmag was given.
There was a funky smell yesterday. No bud or leaf rot that I could see. . Did not look at roots but added a bit of HOCL to the res just in case. Will reapply fungi in a couple of days.
Noticed the res was still full and humidity was very low. Inspection revealed clogged irrigation tubing. Pulled it all replaced some bits and a few emitters. The old emitters are soaking in HOCL.
Had some pH instability. Don't know why but I adjusted to 5.9-6 and a few hours later was 5.2-5.4. This happened multiple times.
Didn't know if i could trust my meter so i double checked with a testing kit. Meter is fine.
I was ready to change the whole res but decided a more aggressive approach which worked. Steady at 5.9.
Heat has been climbing, can-fan is full speed. I think some of the little pc fans in the light chassis aren't working. Between grows i will investigate.
3 very distinct phenos. pH issues a couple of times. Not sure why.
Caught a single gnat on yellow sticky. Hopefuly no larvae!
They look ready but maybe I can push them another week or even 2. I have been topping up with plain water but will res change to just water in a few days or so.
I might try pre-drying with intentional drought a day before harvest.....not sure yet
All in all these plants are amazing to grow. Even though i havent harvested cured or tasted yet, I am a MephHead.
I could not document the past week because I dropped my phone.
The week was pretty uneventful flushed with HOCL then they got plain water with terpinator.
I could have pushed them another week or two but time constraints forced me to go just 11 weeks. Next time I will go 12-13.
STRAWBERRY NUGGETS VAPE REPORT
6 Weeks Cure is where it shines.
Pheno #1: Deep pink/purple. Medium to firm density and oily.
Pheno #2: Dark purples, loose to firm density and sticky.
Pheno #3: Light green and pink. More dense than the others.
The calyx are dusted with very tiny trichomes giving them a frosty look.
Fruity cheesy scent. Smells more sweet than pungent up close but opening a bag quickly fills the room.
Very sweet taste with a light berry essence. Produces a lot of vapor which stays smooth to the end.
A mild initial buzz sets in quickly and stays a while, creeping until I suddenly realize that I am very high. Strong euphoria. Face and behind my forehead feel like they are glowing.
Develops into a dizzying narcotic high with great body effects. It effectively reduced both chronic pain and recent broken ribs. Later sessions take me even higher. Helps with insomnia.
------------------------------------------
The main challenge both growing and harvesting these plants was the sheer density. Short thick branches full of foliage.
The short purple plant was so thick that I could not clean up the inner growth through the life of the plant. The top buds are firm but everything below is airy. The other 2 were a little bit more manageable.
A surprising amount of trim came off on harvest day. Sifted into nice hash.
Is that a banana I see?
Little purple yielded 31gm. The big pink and the green yielded 50gm and 45gm respectively.
Yup. That was a banana.I found at least 7 ripe seeds.
A small yield of very good weed. 4½ ounces with over ½ ounce of popcorn and 4-5 gm dry sift from the trim 🙂
3 weeks in cure.
I took a sample from each plant. I vaped each plant on its own day because the phenos are so different.
😊 all Pheno's were almost the same in effects.
First vape of the day, I was yawning by the end of the load, but not feeling very high. Then I grabbed for a handrail and missed. Higher than I thought. It built from there into a powerful floating spacy buzzy high. Effective pain relief. Euphoric from about 60 minutes. A second load later hit harder, like a shot of morphine.
The samples I took were loose to medium density. lots of dark purples with bright red pistils.
Fruity peppery sweet smell with a slight funk. Not very pungent. Produced lots of vapor with a mild sweet warm berry taste. Smooth to the end even at high temperatures.
Proper report in a couple of weeks.
Both your ladies are looking incredible brother! How dense are the nugs (they look solid as a rock from pics). Great job on spotting the deficiencies when you did too, here’s hoping that it’s smooth sailing from here on out :D
@GrowsHimself,
Thanks 😊 Yeah, I didn't expect it to be my pH meter. Regular maintenance from now on.
They seem pretty dense, realy hard to say until after the cure. I won't squeeze them. Looking sideways at the 2 taller plant's colas, there is still a bit of space visible between the buds, but a couple more weeks could change that.
Smell is increasing. Added KoolBloom Dry today, have to watch the ppm. They are due for a complete res change.
One thing I am not clear about is when to measure ppm. Before supplements, or the whole mixture....
Had some weird ph problems which explains the mottled leaves.
Turns out it was my meter. Got a probe cleaning kit and new batteries. Since then it has been under control.
A few days ago I put a tablespoon of Epsom salt in the res and the plants loved it. There was a noticeable increase in smell almost right away.
Overdrive is sold out so I added NPK Raw Kelp extract. Next feed will contain some charcoal.
@tippylongstockings, Thanks. Yeah. they did have a couple of stressors but some strains just do that. If I am lucky the seed parents are different plants and they are viable.
@GrowsHimself, a bit small harvest so maybe the quality makes up for it. I have been smoking some of the uncured larf and I can sense a hint of strawberry. The "real" buds cured should be much more pronounced.
@GrowsHimself,
👍Thanks. I hope so, the bigger the harvest the more generous I can be with my peeps. But since I just grow my own headstash, quality is most important.
Honestly they could be healthier. You can see the leaf damage from the pH issues but they just keep chugging along.
The pink on in front seems to have the thickest buds. I am very curious to see what the small purple one in the corner produces. Might be tiny or could surprise me 😁
Regardless, if the dry and cure go well I will have enough meds to keep me going. 😎
Continuing to just add pH'd water and. Terpinator. 170PPM. Might do an HOCL flush as well just to make sure there are no nasties in there and help dissolve salts.
Smells terrific. I will cut them down this weekend, End of week 11..
I considered another week or two but it is imperative that the next run is complete before the hottest months as the heat is unmanageable.
Had to replace some clogged emitters so I drenched them by hand a couple of times as I made the repairs.
My eyesight isn't great but I might have seen a little gnat. Put some sticky traps around.
I really don't want those buggers during late bloom.
Previously I used Mosquito dunks and diatomaceous earth but I am not sure what to do in a recycling drip hydro setup.
5 weeks old now. No pics yet
They are so bushy that I don't know where to start defoliation.
A limitation of my system is that I can't get to the plants 360° and the middle plant is the least accessible.
Future idea will have drip into rockwool blocks that drain onto a table. This would allow moving and repositioning the plants.
