@Dani2i, I wouldn't advise chopping the plant when most the trichomes are clear, as the thc and other cannabinoids haven't fully developed. On the other hand, if you want a sativa-feeling high then I would wait until at least 80-90% are milky. And rather than the other 10-20% being amber, they will be clear. That is when you will get the more sativa/uplifting high. When the trichomes turn amber, the THC breaks down into another cannabinoid called CBN. It is this cannabanoid (and probably others that play a factor as well in combination) that make you feel sleepy, more of the couch-lock high feeling.
