Hello everybody and thanks for passing here!
Today I start a new diary dedicated to three RQS Fat Banana Autos.
I've put them into watered Root Riot Cubes by Growth Technology. I made a tiny greenhouse in order to maintain a high humidity level and I've put it into the tent.
D1 22/02: watered the cubes and seeds planted.
D5 27/02: one germinated today!
D7 29/02: transferred the girl into the pot.
D11 04/03: a new born!!!
Today I've changed the plan and I've started a new project. Due to the fact that only one seed germinated of three, I've decided to move from soil to hydroponics, using a 19l Oxypot system that I bought some weeks ago. This is the first time for me with hydroponics, so it will be all new.
The only thing that worries me is the fact that I will be out for work for some days, so I hope that the girl would be healthy at my return... let see!
At the moment I set the lamp on for 24h, 30% power and 30cm far from the little plant. The inkbird parameters are 20° (-3° heating + 2° cooling).
Day 11 another plant germinated, so I'm happy to add another plant to this journey.
In day 13 I transferred the second plant into a second Oxypot that I bought for her. From the next week I will start with nutrients.
New week started, I bought the TriPart by Terra Aquatica. In the next few days I'll start with nutrients. Plants seem to be healthy so far, let's see!
At the moment the fan is still powered off, Inkbird parameters are 20° -3H +2C. The temperature into the tent varies between 17° and 20°.
D16: today I started with nutrients. For each pot (20 l) I used 10ml Grow, 10ml Micro and 10ml Bloom. In order to low the pH at 6.5 I used 8ml of terra Aquatica pH-. The measured EC is 0.9 mS
D17: today I've reduced the light schedule to 18/6. The Fat Banana #1 has some little roots coming out from the basket.
D18: corrected the pH @ 5.9 (it was raised to 7.0). The measured EC after pH correction was 0.9
Third week of vegetation starts today. I changed the water into the pots with fresh tap water. Roots become to be more longer and plants seem to be healthy so far. The light is 30 cm from the top of plants @ 50% power 18/6, the extractor is set to 1/4. The inkbird parameters are 20° (-2 H +3 C).
D21: changed the water. For each 20l pot I added: 20ml of grow, 20ml of micro and 20ml of bloom. In order to low the pH at 6.0 I used 9ml of pH-. The measured EC was 1.2.
D22: lower the pH at 5.6; this evening it was raised to 7.0. the measured EC was 1.3
D23: pH checked @ 6.1, EC checked @ 1.3
D24: everything looks going well. Plants started to stretch and grow faster, roots are developing long and white. pH @ 5.7 EC @ 1.7
Forth week of vegetation started.
I've changed the water into the pots and changed the nutrients ratio too. The fan is turned on pointing to the top of the plants. Inkbird parameters are unchanged (20° -3° H +2°C). Plants are healthy and started to be bushy. I increased the light power to 100%.
D25: changed water and added fresh nutrients: for each 20 liters pot I've added 35ml grow, 20ml micro and 15ml bloom. pH @ 5.7, EC 1.8. I've also tried a gently LTS
D26: second LTS
Fifth week of vegetation started.
I've changed the water into the pots. The fan is turned three hours on, one off. Inkbird parameters are unchanged (20° -3° H +2°C). Plants are healthy and started to be bushy. Light power to 100%.
D29: changed water and added fresh nutrients: for each 20 liters pot I've added 35ml grow, 20ml micro and 15ml bloom. pH @ 5.7, EC 1.8 I've added 10 ml of pH- to each pot.
D31: plants become thirsty, I've refilled each pot with at least 0.5 l of tap water. pH @ 5.7, EC @ 1.5.
D32: check, things are going well.
D34: check: [email protected] EC 1.5. Added 1l tap water to each pot.
Sixth week of late vegetation / pre-flowering started.
I've changed the water into the pots. The fan is turned three hours on, one off. Inkbird parameters are unchanged (20° -3° H +2°C). Plants are healthy and started to be bushy and taller. Light power @ 100%. Extractor @ 75%.
D36: plants seem to be healthy. I've changed the water and during the pot cleaning I broke the air stone; repaired it as well I could do. Tomorrow I will buy the replacement. I added 35 ml grow, 30 ml micro and 35 ml bloom. pH @ 6.0, EC @ 1.8. I've used 9 ml of pH-
D37: replaced the broken air stone. The plant seems to be ok after passing almost one day only with air injected by the replacement.
D38: pH correction at 5.9. Added 1.5 l of water to each pot.
D40: added 2 l of water each pot. Plants are growing bushy more than I expected and they are drinking a lot. Removed some lower leaves.
Seventh week of flowering started.
I've changed the water into the pots and the nutrients ratio (more bloom and micro, less grow). The fan is turned three hours on, one off. Inkbird parameters are unchanged (20° -3° H +2°C). Plants are healthy and started to be bushy and taller. Light power @ 100%. Extractor @ 100%.
D42: changed the water into the pots. Added 15 ml grow, 30ml micro and 40ml bloom. pH@6 EC 1.5
D44: added 1.5 liters of water to each pot. The plants are growing a lot, much more than I expected. Hydroponics is getting me astonished
D46: added 2 liters of water to each pot.
Eighth week of flowering started.
I've changed the water into the pots. I will continue with the same nutrients ratio (more bloom and micro, less grow). The fan is turned three hours on, one off. Inkbird parameters are unchanged (20° -3° H +2°C). Plants are healthy, bushy and tall. Light power @ 100%. Extractor @ 100%.
D49: changed the water into the pots. Added 15 ml grow, 30ml micro and 40ml bloom. pH@6 EC 1.2
D52: plants are drinking and growing a lot, today I've added 3 liters of water to each pot. The #1 reached the maximum height I can manage with my little tent, I cannot raise the light any more than this.
D55: the plants grown a lot reaching the top of the tent. Lesson learnt: only one plant in hydroponics for this tent
Nineth week of flowering started.
D56: changed the water into the pots. Added 15 ml grow, 30ml micro and 40ml bloom. pH@6 EC 1.2
Tenth week of flowering started.
I went out a week and at my return I discovered that the #2 is sick. The plant doesn't drink anymore and a lot of branches are falling down with limp leaves. I think that the missing defoliation, the height and the poor ventilation caused that. At the moment I removed her from the tent moving her out to the balcony.
I did a huge defoliation to the #1 and a massive LST in order to low the height of buds that reached the lamp that is at its maximum height.
So far I gave to the plant only water.
I think that the cause of plant disease is the high humidity level (at least 90%...). Tomorrow I will buy a dehumidifier hoping that this will help the remaining plant.
D63: changed the water into the pot. Added 15 ml grow, 30ml micro and 40ml bloom. [email protected] EC 1.2
D64: after the defoliation the plant seems to be healthy. The humidity into the tent is still high, tomorrow I will install the dehumidifier.
D65: I've put a dehumidifier into the tent, I've added 3 liters of tap water to the pot; the plant is drinking a lot so I think that she is fine. The plants produces a lot of fat buds, so I've checked the trichomes for the first time, they are clear for the majority.
D67: added 5 liters of tap water to the pot. The plant is drinking a lot
Week 11 started
I think that the plant is near to the end, maybe a couple of weeks or less. During this week I will start to check trichomes, my objective is to have 50-50 milky and amber. This will be the last week with nutrients.
D71: changed the water to the pot, added 30ml bloom, 15ml micro, 10ml pH-.
D73: first trichomes check today: 40 crystal, 50 milky, 10 amber. Added four liters of tap water.
D74: added 3 liters of tap water with 5ml of pH-
D75: added 3 liters of tap water.
Week 12
During this week I will continue to flush the plant only with water. I guess that this could be the last week, let's see what trichomes will say!
D79: added 5 liters of tap water to continue the flush. The plants has stunning colourful buds!
D81: added 5 liters of water. Trichomes check: there is a quite good balance between amber and milky; two days to the harvest.
D83: end of the journey!
At the end of the 12th week I decided to chop. The plant grown a lot filling my entire tent, il she gives to me about 500g (or more) of wet harvest. The smell is very intense and the buds are sticky a lot.
I put the branches into the tent with the dehumidifier, fan and extractor 24 hours on.
Update: two weeks after the first harvest I've decided that it is time to harvest the second plant that I transferred outdoor when I discovered that she was showing signs of illness. It's buds are not so fat as the ones of the other plant, but they are rich of trichomes.
Harvest today, light trimming and put the branches into a box.
