Finally a cbd strain! I use the same process for the germination I leave the seed in 1% H2O2 solution for 6 hours, then she lays down in Jiffy Pellet which sits in the propagation dome. 25C 80%RH
Day 1 - Hello Miss Little Thing! 😍
This time I decided to mess around with the lamp’s smart features. Sunrise/sunset mode, timer, they’re sound great! On paper.
I never been able to save the parameters. This morning the lamp decided to turn itself to 75% from 25%. Luckily I noticed the problem before I left the house. The temp was already 35C under the dome! If I don’t switch back to manual mode, the seedling gets killed on day 1.
The Mars Hydro app is shite! The FC3000EVO is a great piece of kit, so guys please put more effort into software engineering too!
So here we are, new grow means new challenges ahead.
This time the soil is a bit different: bottom 2/3 Biobizz All Mix, top 1/3 Light Mix in order to avoid nutrient burn.
Watering schedule will be the same: starting with 0.5L per watering and gradually going up to 1L. When the true leaves will appear, I will introduce the nutes.
The lighting schedule going to be more strict, 18h/day and I will keep my eyes on the DLI. During germination it was 12, this week I raised up to 16 DLI.
Also, I will take more seriously the VPD chart too.
Week 2 and the training has already started.
I was inspired by Canamatoes, this is his LST method.
Day 17 - when LST turned into HST aka FIS technique (fuck I snapped).
So it started as a really harmless routine, I wanted to tie down the plant when at the weak point where the previous tie down was (1st nod) the main stem just snapped 😬
First I tried to use some duct tape and it did not holding the plant together. I grabbed the super glue and it seems like it does the job. ⚕️
When I got home in the evening two fan leaves were wilted. Will she survive?
Let's say she will survive, I am sure due to stress the harvest day will be delayed and it won't be a massive yield.
Day 19 - I decided to go ahead with a VEEERY GENTLE LST. We don't have the luxury to wait for the full recovery.
Not sure about the pin down technique, although I will carry on until flowering. It definitely requires more practice.
Seems like the plant is willing to live, and the thing is I have only 3 months until my holiday, so there is no time to start over with an another grow.
The genetics in this one isn't the best in my opinion, one stem grows really odd leaves. I will wait a bit more and if the strange shaped leaves are keeping growing, then I will have to cut off that branch.
It's safe to say she was reacting well to LST so far. It's time to stop pinning down and let her grow vertically as now she is showing signs for pre-flower.
I lowered the light's position a little and cranked the DLI value up to 30.
Also, dropped down the humidity to 60%.
From this week I will give her 2.5L of water.
Now she is in floweing stage and I amended the nutrient schedule accordingly.
She is nicely streching vertically and it’s safe to say everything is going better than what I anticipated a few weeks ago.
She is still stretching a bit, so here ant there I still have to reposition a couple of branches. Apart from this she don't need much attention.
DLI 45
Watering 3L in every 3 days
My grow light has started messing up. It turns off at random times and when I turn the dimmer knob a little it come back for a few days. This is not what I expected from a high-end priced item. Anyway, I contacted with MarsHydro and waiting for their response.
Lowered the humidity level to 55% , although it is a tricky situation. This week I noticed that the leaves are tacoing, my bet is on bad air circulation and too much light. The humidity should be even lower, but I have to wait until she recovers.
DLI 40
According to FastBuds schedule the end is near and I can see it on the yellowing fan leaves, also the smell gets more intense. There is still quite a lot white pistils on the buds, given the fact she is a CBD strain my goal is to see more amber coloured trichomes, so I want to keep her alive as long as possible.
Here we are, harvest day...
After the hiccups during early training I was anticipating a longer cycle combined with lower yield. But man, I was wrong! I forgot the fact his is a FastBuds strain and their genetics are phenomenal.
The buds are looking gorgeous. I'll get back to you with the final weight and smoke report.
This time I will use a wine cooler as a drying/curing chamber. Obviously this will be a learning curve.
Now I will take a break, because I don't want to deal with the heat waves. The next grow is planned in the autumn.
