So stoked to have these Oni Seed Company beans. This is a crossbreed of their two flagship strains in a feminized form, Tropicanna Cookies X Papaya. Flowering time is 63-70 days after 12/12 flip. Indica leaning hybrid. It should be a very resinous, tight nugged flower with purplish hues.....some say it makes great hash but where there is excellent quality, the yield is not as huge. I put 6 seeds into a glass (hoping to get 4 plants) of filtered water which had been sitting for a few hours at 26c. I left it 24 hours in the dark in a hot closet. The next day the seeds had all cracked and showed a tiny white nub. I mixed my very light nutrients and Ph'd to 6.2, filled a mason jar with the nutrients and 6 Rapid Rooter plugs. Put those back into the closet for an hour and transplanted the seeds into rooters. Those were put into a propagation flat with a dome and seedling heating pad underneath. Humidity inside after a couple of hours was 85% at 28c. The following day I have one sprout up and another just behind that one. Looks like I have 3 up now at day 4

3 beans are now seedlings. They are under a T5 lamp in the propagation tray under a dome with a Exhale Co2 bag. It is 26C and 70-80% RH in there. I am terrible at popping seeds and never have better luck than 50% no matter which way I try. Next time I am putting seed straight into promix in the solo cups. So far they look ok and should be growing good roots right now.

Babies grew quite a bit in one week. I'll likely have to transplant before the next weekly update. The leaves look light green and in my earlier days I would have freaked out and added more nitrogen (which ends up burning or stunting) but now I know that it is because the plant is striving to grow leaf AND roots which is gobbling up nutrients. Trying to keep the humidity up is getting hard, even with a humidifier going. Windows are closed because its cold out and the apartment heat is on and DRY. Time to decide if I want to use 2ml each of A&B or 1ml each and 1ml of B-52. 3days in....Transplant to 1 Gallon Root Pouch fabric pots with Pro-Mix HP and Perlite. I have never used this type of pot before and decided to give it a try. As you can see, the root zone was working overtime and looks great before this transplant. I will continue to use the RAW beneficials powder and VooDoo Juice to build my root zone hard during this next transplant. I suspect I will be doing a lot of vegging and trimming during this growth stage and plan to transplant up to 7gallon pots in roughly 10-14 days. This grow will be a little slower so I can get full potential from the 3 plants in the 2x4tent. I still need to decide if I will be putting in a scrog trellis, but not untill the next transplant is done

All is well with the transplant to 1 gallon. The girls are growing well and show no signs of issues or stress. They are staying fairIy squat so I know my lamp is at the right distance and dimmed ok. I am still thinking of whether or not to top and trellis these three with extra veg time, but I also want to transplant to a 5 or 7 gallon pot also.. I see nobody is following this grow and I know it is because it is a relatively unknown Breeder and Strain.... I want to make the best of it though and see just how much I can pull with the knowledge I learned over this year.

I'll never use fabric pots again if I have to transplant out of them. The roots stick into the fabric causing damage when transplanting. The girls are happy and healthy in the 7 gallon pots now and are praying to the lamp. No issues. I have dropped the RH down. Day4 added a trellis this morning...not so sure about if Im going to dig this idea or not, but I'll try.

Well I decided against topping...Threw down a soft net trellis and did some low stress bending and tucking of branches and leaves. I was going to let this veg for a full two weeks and opted to flip to flower based on the stretch I had in the past with different genetics.. I would really like to tame these girls into being full sized yet still have a good 10+ inches of space from the lamp. Feeding/Watering frequency in these 7gallon pots is much less than with the 3Gallon pots Ive used in the past. I've also gone against the internet grain and am feeding with no runoff at all and will be testing soil samples. Its an experiment I wanted to attempt. That being saaid, I will also not be feeding nutrients anywhere near full strength, but will be adding most of the Advanced Nutrients blooming products by schedule. The plants are very healthy. Some fans are quite large already and there are many budding sites starting to show. I think these plants have great potential to pull out a pound of dry buds when finished just based on my previous experiences... Here to 375 Wme....and my dreams, Cheers for following.

Bud sites beginning. Very light lower defoliation done. Turned on the Mars side lamp for extra bloom lighting. Everything looks normal, no sign of frosting yet.

Still getting a stretch. Budding sites are beginning to fill in now. No frost showing yet. I added a 8inch fan last night (no photo) because the foliage is dense and the little 6inch fans just were not doing the job well enough for me. On plant doesnt look as dark green, but all are healthy right now. Terpinator will come next week.

All is well. The new 8inch fan works great. Buds are fluffy snowballs right now and colas are stacking. No frost evident yet but should be starting to show soon.

Stretch has ceased now totally. There are plenty of bud sites and the very tops are beginning to show frost. These girls should fill in very nicely over the next 3 weeks. No very noticeable scent yet...green pot/leaves but I'm sure in the next week or so they will start showing and smelling like their lineage. The fan is a bit too strong for the tent and is damaging pistals... Im not too concerned because NOT having the fan would be total waste of growth. Honestly feeling like I need a larger tent or room now.

All is well. The Tropaya girls are fattening up and adding frost with a scent of mango/melon this week. Some of the new growth is turning purple and age is showing on the older fan leaves. I think it will fade to a dark colour now. SThey are still growing , swelling and coming along very nicely.... This next week will be getting a blast of Overdrive and a cutback on the Nitrogen because I'm getting closer to fade time.

Bud growth has declined. Many calyx are purple now. Some fan leafs on the far right plant are turing purple now but the other 2 girls not showing signs of colour fade, just yellowing out. Bud Factor X (old recipe) boosted and Carboload sugars for this feed, no nutes.... Going to ride it our with PH water till the end now, which I'll watch under microscope.

3 plants and have 3 seperate phenotypes. Each grew and flowered differntly although the dry bud weights were identical withing 3gram swing. One set of flowers is quite orange haired and much more tropical scented whereas the other two are more creamy.... All three grew well with decent top buds but many lowers were quite small eventhough I had excellent, intense light penetration. They were not as sticky as previous strains yet yeilded a nice 10gram ball of hash from the dry sugar leaf trimmings in a 120U dry shake bag..... Very beautiful scent all around, fruity:mango melon papaya and a hint of creamy gas (not pungent fuel) I hang dried full plants for 6 days at 43%rh in my tent, dry trimmed and bottle burped a week.. They currently sit in jar at 63%rh. I enjoyed this grow from seed. Nice strain Oni Seed Co

@Hellhazard, haha. Yeah I have seen they look challenging to take out when needed but I think if you can just use the fabric pot as the last pot, then their quite beneficial. I’ve been contemplating using them myself for next time, the fabric pot for keeping the roots well air pruned + using coco the roots will be beastly! I think I saw a YouTube vid with Kevin jodrey, bigging up the fabric pot and also explaining the trick upon transplanting them too. You should check it out, if I remember properly it was quite a good video!
Hellhazard
Hellhazardcommented6 years ago
@HouseOfGas, Did the transplant last night....Never using the smaller fabric pots again if there is a transplant bigger needed. The roots stick into the fabric at the bottom and its a biotch to get the rootball out without damage.

@Hellhazard, I’ve run the papaya og and now doing the trop cookies. Your pics look like the nugs are getting chunky from the papaya. I had big ol fat colas stacking from that one. The trop cookies I’ve got running are was smaller nugs. But the calyxs look like the trop cookies. Purple tips. I think that this strain you’re running will turn out to be a winner for sure. 👍🏼
