One seed germinated in 3 days the other has yet to when started on 3/3/24. I soaked rockwool cubes and placed in covered cup on a controlled heat mat at 77 degrees F.
Has anyone had issues with the germination of this strain? I had one pop in 3 days and it has been 7 for the other. I did the exact same process for both. They had the same temps moisture, everything. Soaked rockwool cube, put in plastic cup, covered, placed on heat mat.
Seven days it is getting to the point where it’s going to be a dud. Especially if you had one sprout in only three days.
Since they would still be so close in age, you could always germinate another one and they will be roughly 1 week apart.
Give it another day or two just to be sure.
Not too bad for the first week. I lowered my lights down to 18" to average about 590 ppfd at plant canopy. Keeping the nutrients half strength for first week and will bump up to full strength during week 2 through finish.
Hoping during week 2 the roots start building and the foliage takes off. I geminated in rockwoll cube then lightly covered the sides of the cube in Mykos and put Mykos in the bottom soil where cube contacts. I've never used Mykos before but have heard great things about it being beneficial for root growth.
I've used voodoo juice in prior hydro grows and I'm a firm believer. The temps/humidity are staying right where I like without much ventilation. Since the smell is not bad yet I just Crack the tent and have a small fan circulating air.
As I was hoping week 2 started to see more growth due to the root system establishing. I transferred to its final 2 gal pot size.
I up potted at the right time. The root mass just started to curl around the sides of the pot. I am stopping the carboload this week. And keep the voodoo juice going tough week 2 of flower per advance nutrients schedule. I have a feeling week 3 will be more explosive with growth with the continuing root growth in the new pot.
Growth stated taking off. Nearly doubled in size from last week. Roots are beginning to fill the 2 gal pot. I am considering LST on the main stem to allow more light to inner nodes
The node spacing is extremely tight right now.
The ppfd at the canopy is about 615 and she seems to be doing great, so I don't think I will raise lights at all. I have seen in other grow diaries they start to flower around week 6. Hopefully I can get another 12" or more out of her in next 3 weeks. That will put me at about 36-40" height at end of flower which my flower room is 72" tall. This gives a good buffer from light max height.
As I expected this week it took off. I decided to do a light LST of the main stem to promote an even top cnopy. If i didnt LST it would be closer to 7". Switched to flower nutrients on 3/31. Started showing pre-flowers on 3/29. The main stem at the base is very thick for such a stocky plant. My new light for flower side of my grow room arrives in 2 days. I also pruned out a couple inner leaves to get more light inside. I made a mistake and tried redirecting the main stem which I LST since it was shading lower branches, and cracked the stem. I quickly taped it together and it seems to not be affected. Hopefully it will act as a Graft and heal itself.
Broke the main stem last week and taped it quickly and it seems to still be doing well. I am sure it stunted main stem formation, but hopefully it heals itself. Following the advanced nutrients feeding schedule.
The stretch I was expecting has not really occurred. This is my first time growing an auto so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. Maybe it didn't stretch as much as expected due to my par values above the plant at avg 1100. So far not that impressed with this strain.
This plant is definitely exhibiting indica dominant traits keeping a short bushy stature. After 3 weeks of flower I've only had about 3 inches of stretch. Buds seem fluffy and not too full yet. I do feel that they will start filling out and since the node spacing is so tight I could have multiple big colas.
Did a little defoliation to bring light to hidden bud sites. I'm going to keep the advanced nutrients schedule. I've been watering every 3 days about. Found out my ph pen was way off and needed calibration, it was reading 1.8 too high so my actual ph was around 4.9-5.1 for a couple watering.
It has begun packing on some girth to the buds. They started slow and fluffy, but now getting more dense. Over the past few days it has started producing trichomes. I never experienced a true stretch. It seems like it has only stretched 20-25%. I kept the par values around 1000-1100 and node spacing started very tight. Smell has noticeably increased and when I mess with it has a piney aroma. I'm hoping Next week should see some real change in bud girth and trichome production.
The buds are getting more frosty with trichomes. This strain has been a slow grower/bud producer. I have been slowly removing fan leaves opening up light to lower bud sites and making future trimming easier.
I started overdrive this week and will run it next week as well. Then 1 week of flush then cut. Best news is the branch I broke before flower then taped back on itself is producing just as good as the others.
I started flowering another strain 3 weeks after this and the other already has more trichomes and the bud development is catching up fast. Just waiting this one out to put more quality plants in it's place.
Again resin is not producing very well and the buds are stating to thicken and harden. I take some blame for not having it in a larger pot for the poor performance, but I know someone else growing the same seeds from the same pack as mine and one looks indica and short the other is saliva dominant with long slender fan leaves. Strain is not consistent
The chop is coming this upcoming weekend. Trichomes are beginning to turn amber on the sugar leaves. Flowers are milky with some clear still. Hopefully this smokes well. The buds haven't plumped how I was hoping and the trichomes are not as much either. I believe partly because I used a 1.5gal pot which was not enough. All future grows will be in 7gal.
