I’ve decided to flower the Berry White mother I have been taking clones from. She is a real beast with fan leaves the size of my hands. After 7 days of flower she is getting into some real explosive growth. Nutrients will follow the Lucas method and I don’t plan on any water changes unless it is absolutely necessary. Smell is noticeable, but not very strong. I’m really looking forward to this grow
Sunday: Threw on the ScROG net after some defoliation. This lady has some big healthy fan leaves that were blocking all my future colas. Had myself a nice little pile for the compost when I was done. My ScROG net is extremely simple, but it is perfect for my small grow space. I purchased a "professional" ScROG but it was way too big and had huge squares. My DIY version is just a section of plastic fencing from Home Depot ($12). It originally had 1" squares so I had to do a little modification. And before anyone says anything! the mismatched layout of the grid was intentional. Why not?
The screen is slowly filling up! I will admit the ScrOG method is a little more work than other LST/HST, but I love messing with my plants anyway. Its like solving a puzzle trying to find the next spot to pop up a cola. The Lucas method is going great. Still no water changes, and I haven't had issues with algae or root rot. Some people report their reservoir smelling bad without water changes, but all I smell is ganja 😀
Time really does fly when you’re growing fun. Things are progressing nicely. Smell is getting stronger, but my carbon filter is doing a great job. I am starting to notice a slight algae smell which is definitely from not changing the reservoir. Plant looks nice and happy so I don’t plan on a water change till flush, which should only take a few days. I’m ready for fat buds 😛
This week might be the last. I haven’t had a chance to check out the trichomes yet with my microscope, but that’s the overall impression. This grow has been the most low maintenance so far. Hydroponics are definitely my new go-to. I will wait for the the reservoir to get nice and low before I fill it up with with straight h2o for few days of flush. Hard to tell what the yield will be. I don’t think I will be disappointed.
This grow was great. As my first hydroponic grow I think it went really well. Coming from soil grows it's great not having to deal with fungus gnats. The Berry White responded really well to the LST and defoliation I did. If I could do anything differently I would stay on top of the defoliation more, especially toward the end. Yields would have been much higher if light could have penetrated further. I am still pleased with the results. The buds are still wet and weigh 87.36g. I will update with the dry weight in a few more days.00
