Hey Growmies!🙌 Welcome to my new grow report. Here's a quick rundown of the plan😎:
Strain: I've chosen Papaya Cookies Auto by FastBuds👽. It caught my eye with its massive THC content - up to 29%😈 - and its fast flowering time😘.
Setup: I'll be growing in a small 60x60cm tent under a 150W light👽.
Nutrients: I'm using the Advanced Nutrients pH Perfect Sensi Grow and Bloom (A&B) mineral line, along with Voodoo Juice, B52, Big Bud, Bud Candy, and Overdrive👌.
Medium: I've placed CANNA Terra Professional soil in a 20L AirPot and pre-soaked it with pure water, letting it sit for 2 days😇.
Training: I'll be doing LST starting around week 2 and defoliation as needed👽.
And we are beggining with germination👇: I placed the seed in a glass of water for 24 hours. The next day, I transferred it to paper towels, and by the evening, a taproot had emerged😳. Wow, so fast😳 I then placed it in the AirPot, slightly off-center (to make bending easier later on)😎.
The first week went mostly well👍 This week I didn't use any nutrients, only root stimulator (Voodoo Juice) and vitamins (B-52), as the soil already contains a sufficient amount of nutrients👽. Mostly sprayed the soil with a pure water.
However, on day 7, I noticed the first leaves starting to curl🙀 This is most likely due to incorrect pH levels in the water😵.
Unfortunately, I didn't have a pH meter, but as soon as I got one and measured pH of the water I was using, my fears were confirmed😟 WTF, pH was 8.2! And I pre-watered the entire soil with that water before planting😰
Gave a small watering (about 0.5L, pH 6.3) with Voodoo Juice and B-52😬 I poured the water around the seedling, not directly under it, so the roots would grow better. Let's hope everything goes well from now on🙏.
Week 2 has begun😀
Day 8 - The first watering (1L) with nutrients, starting at 50% of the recommended dosage👽.
The plant is growing well, although the leaves are still a bit strange and I don't really like their color😤.
Meanwhile, the papaya is growing very vigorously💪 It takes time for the pH in the soil to balance out, I'm watering with a small amount of water to avoid excesses👽
Day 14 - Finally, the papaya is looking better, the leaves are looking healthy, and I'm starting to do some LST😎.
This week was dedicated to LST😎. I bent the main cola and pulled the side branches out to the sides so that they evenly receive light👹.
The plant feels good💪. I am gradually increasing the fertilization. There were 2 waterings in total during the week.
Day 15 - Watering 1L (Sensi Grow Part A and B 2ml each, B52 - 2ml) - ppm 300
Day 18 - First watering to runof - 2L (Sensi Grow Part A and B 3ml/l each, B52 - 2ml/l) - ppm 500, ph 6; drained out - ppm 1000, ph 6,2.
Day 21 - Papaya had become very bushy, with very large leaves. I spread the branches out again👽.
Day 23 - Watering 2L (Sensi Grow Part A and B 3ml/l each, B52 - 2ml/l) ppm 580; drained out - 0.05L, ppm 780.
Day 24 - In the morning I cut big lower leaves and continued stretching around the pot, same evening the tops turned towards the light, Papaya handled the stress perfectly💪
Day 25 - The tips of the new upper leaves have started to yellow, it doesn't look like an overdose, most likely a slight lack of nutrients. I'll add more fertilizers according to the Advanced Nutrients feeding schedule in the next watering.
Day 26 - Watering 3L (Sensi Grow Part A and B 4ml/l each, B52 - 2ml/l) ppm 735, ph 6.3; drained out - 0.25L, ppm 910, ph 6. Compared to the previous watering input PPM has increased, while PPM of the drained water has decreased, so Papaya is feeding well.😍
Day 28 - Big defoliation day😬 I trimmed about 12 large leaves, mainly in the center of the plant, which were blocking light from the smaller growths. Now they are free to grow🙌 And again, Papaya handled the stress perfectly and by the evening new leaves and shoots were already pushing upwards.
Day 31 - Clusters of pistils on the tops are already very noticeable, I consider this the beginning of flowering😊 I'm starting to feed for flowering.
Watering 3L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 4ml/l each, Voodoo Juice - 2ml/l, Bud Candy - 2ml/l) ppm 675; drained out - 0.03L, ppm 880. Very little water came out, will increase the amount of water next time.
Day 32 - Defoliation. I removed all the large fan leaves (about 20). The plant was stressed, but by the evening it had recovered and seemed to be doing well💪
Day 34 - Watering 4L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 4ml/l each, Voodoo Juice - 2ml/l, Bud Candy - 2ml/l) ppm 740, ph 6.3; drained out - 0.3L, ppm 830, ph 6. This time enough water came out, next watering I will increase the pH to 6.5-6.8.
Day 36 - I defoliated my plant by removing the lowest leaves and any leaves that were blocking the light from reaching to small shoots in the center👽
Day 37 - Watering 4L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 4ml/l each, Voodoo Juice - 2ml/l, Bud Candy - 2ml/l, Big Bud- 2ml/l) ppm 740, ph 6.5; drained out - 0.15L, ppm 870, ph 6. Then I stretched the branches out to the sides💪
Day 38 - I turned the 150W LED dimmer up to 100%, it was previously at 80%. I'm keeping the distance to the plant at 45cm and raisung it 1-2cm per day👻
Day 39 - Raised the light to 50cm due to concerns about the tops being burned from the sudden increase in light intensity👹 High humidity levels of up to 70% due to rain😰
Day 40 - Defoliated, removed leaves that were blocking the light from reaching the young shoots. LST has been paused for now as there is no more room for stretching. The plant has filled the entire grow box. Humidity in the box is still around 60%😓
Watering 4L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 4ml/l each, Bud Candy - 2ml/l, Big Bud- 2ml/l) ppm 780, ph 6.6; drained out - 0.1L, ppm 880, ph 6.
Day 43 - Watering 5L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 4ml/l each, Bud Candy - 2ml/l, Big Bud- 2ml/l, B-52 - 2ml/l) ppm 800, ph 6.6; drained out - 0.3L
Day 44 - I've been having some issues since watering yesterday. The top leaves have dark green spots, some leaves have brown spots, and others have scorched tips. My soil's pH is 6, and it stays at 6 even after watering. I think the low pH might be preventing the plant from absorbing enough calcium, leading to a calcium deficiency and possibly impacting other nutrients like potassium and phosphorus. I'm going to flush the soil with clean water at pH 6.7 and add calcium/magnesium. I'll keep an eye on the new leaves and hope they grow healthy.
Watering 5L (Sensi CalMag Extra - 2ml/l) ppm 250, ph 6.7; drained out - 1.5L, ppm 1000, ph 6, then drained out - 1.5L, ppm 780, ph 6
Day 45 - The leaves that were damaged yesterday have gotten much worse. The dark green spots have turned dark brown. It's not looking great, but thankfully there don't seem to be any more affected leaves. I'll keep watching them. I trimmed off the worst of the damaged leaves this evening.
Day 46 - I removed all the damaged leaves, and also the large fan leaves that were blocking light from the lower flower clusters.
Day 48 - Things are looking up for the plant! It's stopped growing taller, but the buds are getting bigger and trichomes are popping up. The pot's dry, so I'm watering it now. I'm going to cut back on the regular nutes a bit (25%) and add some calcium magnesium (half the usual dose).
Watering 5L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 3ml/l each, Bud Candy - 2ml/l, Big Bud- 2ml/l, B-52 - 2ml/l, CalMag - 1ml/l) ppm 730, ph 6.8; drained out - 0.3L, ppm 730, ph 6.6
Day 51 - The buds are still getting bigger, but I'm seeing some calcium deficiency on a few leaves again. Next watering, I'll bump up the calcium magnesium and give it the full dose of fertilizer. This plant is hungry!
Day 52 - Watering 5L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 4ml/l each, Bud Candy - 2ml/l, Big Bud- 2ml/l, B-52 - 2ml/l, CalMag - 2ml/l) ppm 1400, ph 6.8; drained out - 0.4L, ppm 1700, ph 6.2
Day 53 - Chopped off the bad leaves. Looks like I gave it too much food, so I'm gonna dial down the fertilizer.
Day 54 - Those flies are back because of the humidity! I hung a yellow sticky trap to get rid of them.
Day 56 - Watering 5L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 3ml/l each, Bud Candy - 2ml/l, Big Bud- 2ml/l, B-52 - 2ml/l) ppm 900, ph 6.8; drained out - 0.4L, ppm 1500, ph 6.3
This week (Day 57 - 63), the buds have gained weight very well and continue to gain. There are already a lot of trichomes. Also, the plant has become noticeably hungrier, the watering interval has been reduced by 1 day. I lowered the LED light slightly to 35 cm to give more light to the lower shoots. Overall, I am very pleased with how evenly the buds are developing, LST has not been in vain. However, temperature and humidity are jumping around due to the rain outside.
Day 60 - Watering 5L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 3ml/l each, Bud Candy - 2ml/l, Big Bud- 2ml/l, B-52 - 2ml/l) ppm 980, ph 6.9; drained out - 0.4L, ppm 1400, ph 6.6
Day 63 - Watering 5L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 3ml/l each, Bud Candy - 2ml/l, Overdrive- 2ml/l, B-52 - 2ml/l) ppm 1180, ph 6.7; drained out - 0.4L, ppm 1600, ph 6
Day 67 - Watering 5L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 3ml/l each, Bud Candy - 2ml/l, Overdrive- 2ml/l, B-52 - 2ml/l) ppm 1000, ph 6.7; drained out - 0.4L, ppm 1500, ph 6.1
Day 69 - I defoliated and lowered the light by 30cm to give the lower buds a chance to mature.
Day 71 - Watering 5L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 3ml/l each, Bud Candy - 2ml/l, Overdrive- 2ml/l, B-52 - 2ml/l) ppm 1000, ph 6.7; drained out - 0.4L, ppm 1500, ph 6.4
Day 74 - Watering 5L (Sensi Bloom Part A and B 2ml/l each, Bud Candy - 2ml/l, Overdrive- 2ml/l, B-52 - 2ml/l) ppm 740, ph 6.8; drained out - 0.4L, ppm 1700, ph 6.6
PPM in the runoff has increased, and the plant has started to eat significantly less. Harvest is coming. I will start flushing next week.
Day 76 - I did the final defoliation, removed almost all fan leaves.
Day 77 - The pot is completely dry, most trichomes are milky, amber ones are starting to appear. I'm starting the flush a bit earlier using FloraKleen.
Watering 10L (Flora Kleen - 2ml/l) ppm 117, ph 6.5; runoff 1 - ppm 640, ph 6.3; runoff 2 - ppm 847, ph 6.1.
The first week (Day 78-84) of flushing is complete. I've been watering with cold water (13ºC) for the last two weeks to stress the plant at the end of the cycle and encourage trichome growth.
Day 80 - Watering 5L (Pure water 13ºC) ppm 115, ph 6.5; runoff 0.5L - ppm 1000.
I'm going to use a larger volume of water for the next flushing cycles because the PPM in the runoff is still high.
Day 83 - Watering 10L (Pure water 13ºC) ppm 120, ph 6.7; runoff 1 - ppm 326; runoff 2 - ppm 520
It's the final week (Day 85-90) of flushing. The buds look fully mature, with most trichomes milky and even a good number of amber ones. The aroma is insane, smelling like fresh cookies and tropical fruits😇 I'm planning to harvest on day 91.
Day 87 - Watering 10L (Pure water 13ºC) ppm 115, ph 6.7; runoff - ppm 220.
Day 91 - Harvest time!!! Cut the plant by branches, did a partial trim and hung it in the grow box to dry. I decided to dry the leaves after trimming too, as there were many leaves with trichomes. I'll make canna-butter for cakes and cookies from them. Temperature 24ºC, humidity 65%.
Day 97 - The plant is fully dried, I'm starting the final trim and packaging for curing.
The final dry bud weight came out to 196g, plus 49g of trim and 2g of resin from the scissors and gloves. I'm more than happy with the result. The buds are very resinous and sticky. During trimming, every three branches required putting the gloves and scissors in the freezer to scrape off the resin, otherwise, the scissors would stick together, and the gloves would be unusable.
