Aug 3: this is a very promising looking plant. She’s quite big and flowering quite quickly which is a great combo. She was the exact same size as my other photoperiod until the start of flowering two weeks ago, and now she’s bigger and flowering faster. Humidity is quite low during the day so I’m continuing to mist the leaves a few times during the day. Did a foliar spray of Extreme Blend and potassium silicate this morning. Aug4: did a major defoliation to remove small lower buds and stuff that was growing in toward the centre. This improves light penetration and air flow which are super important but also forces the plant to direct the energy where you want at the main colas, and not wasted down below. Aug 5: lots of buds forming quickly on lots of decently uniform colas. Should be good. Big rain last night but plants were in dark garage. Watered this morning with 27 C water that had blackstrap molasses, soluble seaweed extract, Monster Maxx and Cal-Mag. Did all four on the weak side of the standard concentrations listed and just 1L used on the plant. Much cooler today so she won’t need as much water. Aug 6: added UV lights from AC Infinity. Very well deigned and manufactured like all of their gear. These are indoor lights so fair weather use only. This far north (53 N) we run out of strong sunlight before it gets too cold in the fall. Idea is to use UV lights for a couple hours each day centred at peak sun (currently 1:39 pm). UV light is the main environmental limit on THC and this will make the light in Edmonton in September more like California in July. Should have a big impact this far north. At other end of light spectrum, I use Forever Green Indoors (FGI) 730 nm far red light as a bloom booster. A few seconds at dusk is all it takes for the far red light. This is the third season using the far red light and it definitely works. #seedsman420growoff #seedsmanseeds

Very nice @Northern_Ent, your in an area I know quite well brother!

@Still_Smoq, right on, thanks. Should be good, I’ve got some new UV lights to use during peak sunlight hours to make Edmonton in September seem like California in July. 👍👍

and for outdoor? holy shit, they are starting to flower 3 week after the lighthours getting shorter, thats the total point in growing outdoors, getting a fast flowering or fsat into flower strain- i am in love

@Mrs_Larimar, me too.

How wide is it in diameter?? Also, the success must be due to the extra CO2 provided by the pup, great companion plant
Northern_Ent
Northern_Ent
@musashi_miyamoto, thanks. I just measured the diameter at 44” or 1.12 m. With area equal to pi x r-squared that is very close to 1 m2. I want to see if I can break a pound of dried bud (454 g) from each of my photoperiod plants, and it is looking possible. 👍

Seems like the blueberry doesn’t appreciate the heat as much as the Euphoria, but definitely still looking good
Northern_Ent
Northern_Ent
@musashi_miyamoto, yeah the Euphoria seems a bit ahead in part because it recovered quicker after the last round of topping. For a couple days the fan leaves got bigger on the BB Pie, but the growth tips were slower to grow than on Euphoria. Could be just the heat, and now we get 7 days above 30 C with two days at 35 C. That’s hot anywhere, including here.

Looking good! Glad you caught that rot early. Just snipped my first few spots sadly, and I have my grow tarped during rain and overnight, so dry as a bone, but that 97% humidity overnight makes it a challenge. Do you ever spray anyhthing for rot? H202?
Arcadium
Arcadium
@Northern_Ent, a little late now, but this I what I used to cultivate Lab at home https://www.rebootedmom.com/lactobacillus-serum-lab-serum/. It's good for like 6 months with molasses, so I also add it during flower in addition to once a week foliar spray.

@Arcadium, there was actually quite a lot of spots where you could see the rot was starting, like 10-12, so even just a couple more days would have been a disaster. That load is in the freeze dryer now so that will kill any and all microorganisms like yeast mould or bacteria. Harvest problem solved. 👍
Northern_Ent
Northern_Ent
@Arcadium, one year at the farm I did a lot of lactic acid bacteria foliar sprays and that seemed to work as I had zero rot all season. I commented on that once and an answer back was to just use a dilute milk solution which will have enough LAB to outcompete the mould. I still haven’t tried that but I might this year. My Overdose is being slow and the strain write-up from Divine suggests rot can be a problem. I’ll have to go buy some milk. Hydrogen peroxide is a maybe in that it’s easy to overdo and cause real damage. Dilute milk sounds much more benign. Mostly airflow is key prevention and is always better than a cure.

Getting THICK, love it. Looks like I've found next year's strain, you sure it's Blueberry Pie this time? Haha.
Northern_Ent
Northern_Ent
@Arcadium, hey, valid question. My Auto Overdose wasn’t an auto, and last year’s Gorilla Cookies vs Gorilla Sherbet thing, but, yes, as far as I know, this is Blueberry Pie F1 Fast. Great strain, and Mrs. Larimar has also said she’ll be growing this one next year. So far, so great, and I’m at that stage where you’re trying to judge when to harvest. Soon, and I’ll take the tops first and give rest another week or two. It will be all down before end of September which is great.

@Mrs_Larimar, I’m sure they’d be happy to send you seeds without having to buy them. 👍
