This is day 0, from seed, of a new FastBuds Pineapple Express grow. They'll be 12/12 from seed, as they're going in to replace two males from a grow already in process. These two will be going directly into 5 gallon fabric pots with Fox Farms Ocean Forest, buffered by a gallon of seedling soil mixed with perlite - don't want the FFOF to burn my seedlings in the first few days/weeks. Defoliation and/or topping and training will depend on the characteristics of the plants as they grow. Photos to come.
Alright, both of them sprouted, but we had some difficulties. Overnight temps were far too low for the first few days these were in the ground and the first day after sprouting for the first one that broke ground, so it lost a cotyledon to the cold. There is now a heater down there, keeping the space above 70, so things are going better.
End of week two - not much to report. This grow is going to start out slowly, until the plants get a little closer to the light (I should really put them up on risers).
Moved the plants up 30cm this week, which they seemed to appreciate greatly. They're still not as far along as some of the Fastbuds plants I've seen, but they're also only getting 12 hours of light a day and they're in five gallon pots, so I imagine the roots are being a little greedy with all of that space, and before long there will be an explosion of growth.
Topped both of the plants this week, and they've recovered quite nicely. I've also started adding some unsulphured molasses for microbial support in the soil, since I'm using slightly recycled soil. I only have a couple of weeks left on the photoperiod grow that's sharing the tent with these, so they should go back up to 24/0 relatively soon.
End of week 5, and this is the last week that these plants will be under 12/12, as the photos in the tent were harvested this week. No more not being able to check on the plants right before bed, because they're sleeping. This week the plants were defoliated, and responded wonderfully. They'll get another defo at their next watering, but that could be a few days yet. Meanwhile, little white hairs have sprung up all over these plants, so they're getting bloom nutes every other watering from now on.
