The plan is simple... let her grow inside under a 19/5 light schedule until the nighttime temperatures stay above the mid 40's℉, at which point she'll be moved outside and transplanted into the soil which I have already setup and inoculated with beneficial microbes, and then let the fun begin!🤪💚 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Weekly Updates: 4/11- Here we go into the second week of life for my FastBuds GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower and she's doing really well! All I'm doing right now is making sure that her medium remains moist, watering only when necessary. I'm checking her root development daily and she will be ready to transplant outdoors any day now! 4/13- Today is TRANSPLANT DAY! I moved the GG4 Sherbet outside to her prearranged 'new home' which I had previously prepped by adding some Coco/Perlite into the soil to improve the texture and drainage. I then pre-amended the soil with Gaia Green 4-4-4 All Purpose slow release dry amendment along with 3g of Wiggle Worm castings, 2 cups of ground Alfalfa and 1/4 cup of Extreme Gardening's MYCOS. After which, I kept the soil moist to allow the microbial colony to populate for a week. To transplant, I first made a hole then placed a Solo cup in it to make sure that the depth was adequate, then packed the medium up against the cup firmly which leaves a nice Solo cup shaped hole in the ground. I then wet the inside of the hole that I formed and coated the hole with Extreme Gardening's MYCOS root enhancer, after which I removed the GG4 Sherbet from her Solo cup and placed her snugly into her new home! After planting her in the ground all that was left to do was lightly water her in... Let the fun begin!🤪 4/15- The GG4 Sherbet FF from FastBuds is doing extremely well in her new environment. To be quite honest I was slightly hesitant to place her outside this early as we are only getting approximately 13 or so hours of sunlight daily. Based on my experience last year growing a Gorilla Cookies FF, which was placed outside at a similar time and did extremely well, I went ahead with the transplant, confident that she would be just fine. 4/17- I'm watering around every 2-3 days right now using water straight from my well through a garden hose... super simple! I do not worry about PH as long as the water isn't chlorinated and is good enough for me to drink, it's good enough for my plants and the microbial colony in the soil will adjust the PH to where they need it and at the same time provide the nutrients that the plant requires... again, nice and simple. Well there goes two weeks for this little lady. The GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower from FastBuds has her 6th set of leaves now and is looking nice and healthy. She has good color and her growth is beginning to pick up. I have also noticed that something has decided that she's tasty as I have begun to notice holes in her shade leaves that look like they were chewed. 4/27- All is well with the GG4 Sherbet FF. Today I checked the moisture of the soil and decided to water via the garden hose with well water along with a good drink of fresh Compost Tea. 4/29- Rain showers today took care of my watering duties! Yesterday I sprayed her down with Neem Oil to see if it helps to mitigate whatever is beginning to chew on her leaves. 5/1- Well there's another fairly slow week for the GG4 Sherbet FF from FastBuds. Our weather is beginning to warm up and I'm looking forward to seeing this little lady take off! There's another week for the little GG4 Sherbet FF. Our weather is finally beginning to warm up and you can start to see it in the GG4 Sherbet FF as she is beginning to 'wake up'. 5/4- I have yet to see any insects either on top of, or underneath her leaves to determine what's causing the perforations on her leaves. I went ahead and sprayed her down with Neem oil and I'll keep an eye out to try and determine what the culprit is. 5/6- Rain showers today handled the watering duties and all I did was to add some straw to a couple of bare spots on the mound. 5/8- I'm not seeing much in the way of any new damage to the leaves of the FastBuds GG4 Sherbet FF. I will continue with the Neem oil preventative, along with spreading some powdered cayenne pepper around the base of the plant to take care of any slugs that may think of trying a taste of sherbet! Our weather, so far, has been rather cool and damp. We've had showers on and off every 2-3 days which has taken care of my watering chores which I won't complain about. 5/11- I'm continuing to monitor the leaf damage and am keeping up with the Neem Oil applications to mitigate as much further damage as possible. I still have yet to put eyes on the culprits responsible for the damage to the leaves. Tomorrow I'm going to top dress the GG4 Sherbet for the first time since transplanting outside into her pre-amended soil mix. 5/13- Yesterday, I top dressed the GG4 Sherbet FF with 2 cups of Gaia Green 4-4-4 All Purpose and 1/2g of worm castings. After top dressing and working the amendments into the soil, I watered them in via garden hose with well water. 5/15- There's six weeks of veg for the FastBuds GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower and, with our weather finally cooperating, she's beginning to really take off! I started brewing a batch of Compost Tea today which should be ready in 24-36 hours, after which I'll give the GG4 Sherbet FF a treat! 5/18- Yesterday, I gave the GG4 Sherbet a healthy drink of the freshly brewed Compost Tea which will benefit the microbes in her soil greatly! My Compost Tea recipe is as follows: In a doubled up mesh bag I put in 2 cups of wiggle worm castings, 1 cup of Alfalfa Meal, 1/2 cup of Dr. Earth 4-4-4 dry amendment w/beneficial mycorrhizae, 1 tbsp. Stash Blend, 1 tbsp. Plantonics Amino Bliss. Then in a 5g bucket filled with 68-74℉ non-chlorinated well water (which I do not adjust ph on, if it's good enough for me to drink... it's good enough for my plants) I add 4 tbsp. of unsulfured black strap molasses and 4 tbsp. of liquid Kelp Extract. I then aerate the water via a pump and large round air stone and hang the mesh bag so that it stays suspended above the bottom of the bucket and so the air bubbles can surround it. I then cover the bucket and leave it alone for 24-36 hrs after which there should be a generous layer of foam in the bucket which indicates that your tea is ready to serve! 5/20- I'm almost certain that slugs are the culprits of all of the leaf chewing that has occurred on the GG4 Sherbet FF. I only wish I had figured it out sooner but, on the bright side, this is a photoperiod and she has plenty of time to recover so she'll be just fine. Yesterday, once I figured out that I was facing a slug attack, I immediately deployed my favorite defense against slugs and other little soft bodied buggers and their larvae... Diatomaceous Earth. This stuff is death to fungus gnat larvae, along with other pest larvae and will ruin a slugs day quickly! If you look at diatomaceous earth under magnification, it resembles shards of glass and acts as the same on the soft bodies of pests either repelling, or killing them! 5/22- Our weather has dried out and warmed up so I'm watering daily with well water straight from the garden hose. With seven weeks of growth now for the GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower, she just keeps looking better by the day and in a month you won't recognize her! It rained steadily today so my watering duty was taken care of by Mother Nature! 5/25- The diatomaceous earth that I spread around her along with spraying her down every other day with Neem Oil, and every three days with an organic insecticidal soap seems to have taken care of the attacks on her leaves which has improved her vigor noticeably. 5/27- I watered the GG4 Sherbet today via garden hose and began to train her branches, preparing them to start spreading out through the trellis net. 5/29- Wow, two months ago this little lady broke ground and look at her now! I'm watering at sundown so that the water will have some time to soak down into the soil before the heat evaporates it. Other than the ever present leaf hoppers, which love the leaves and an occasional Japanese Beetle, there aren't any serious pest issues currently. I also removed a few shade leaves that were below the canopy, as well as some in the middle of the plant that were blocking a lot of light to new shoots. 🎉HAPPY 4th of JULY!🎉 7/5- Early this morning we had a thunderstorm pass through early in the day, which provided about an inch of rain in a short time. I removed a bunch of dead or yellowing leaves from the underside of the canopy, under the trellis net as well as a few small shoots that were down deep in the middle of the plant which would only produce larfy buds. 7/21- It rained all day yesterday, and the rain continued into this morning so I skipped watering at all today as the ground got well saturated. 7/23- Well there's the first week of flower on the books for the FastBuds GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower and I can't wait to see her develop over the next month! She has flowers sprouting out, it seems, from everywhere! I did dive into the middle of her canopy and removed a dozen or so small, scraggly shoots that would have only drawn nutrients that are better served elsewhere on the plant! 8/4- Our weather continues to be hot and humid. I am continuing with my daily watering routine, watering in the late afternoon after the sun sets. I went through the underside of the GG4 Sherbet FF and removed some shade leaves that were either dead and brown or all yellow, and basically gave the entire plant a good look over to spot any issues that may arise as early as possible. If any issues are identified, it's a lot easier to cure them when they are spotted early! 8/6- We finally have some much needed rain on the way in the way of a tropical system which will be bringing on and off showers beginning tomorrow through the 9th. As a result of this gift from above I will not have to water the rest of this week! 8/8- Well there's three full weeks in flower for the GG4 Sherbet FF and she's continuing on course to be another epic result from FastBuds genetics! I also went into the canopy and removed a bunch of dead and/or completely yellowed leaves to keep the foliage clear of debris which can cause insect and fungal issues if allowed to get out of hand. 8/14- I am continuing to water the FastBuds GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower daily with 5-8 gallons of well water from the garden hose. Yesterday, I top dressed the FastBuds GG4 Sherbet FF with 3 cups of Gaia Green 2-8-4 Power Bloom which I watered in with well water from the hose. I then applied 1/2 gallon of a nutrient mix I made up in 2 1/2g of well water consisting of: 1/4 cup Neptune's Harvest Seaweed(kelp) plant food and 2 1/2 tsp. of Plantonics Amino Bliss. 8/16- We have rain in the forecast over the next three days. There were a couple of passing light rain showers today which didn't provide a lot of rain so I went ahead and watered the GG4 Sherbet FF with approximately 5g of well water just to make sure that she didn't get thirsty. There's a month in flower for this beautiful fast flowering cultivar from the experts at FastBuds and all I can say is WOW! Our weather continues to be cool and dry with nighttime temp's dipping into the upper 50's℉ with daytime highs in the mid to upper 70's℉, and the daylight has dropped to just over 13 hours now. 8/20- I am still watering the GG4 Sherbet FF daily but, with the cooler weather and with the plant at this stage of flower, her water requirements have dropped a bit so I'm only giving approximately 4-5g of well water after the sun goes down to allow it to soak in thoroughly throughout the soil. 8/22- Along with my daily watering, I am also constantly going through the plant and removing any dead or yellowed leaves. I'm also checking over the entire plant including the undersides of leaves looking for early signs of insect infestation or their eggs being laid, as well as looking for signs of deficiencies and as flowering progresses mold and fungus.🤢 8/24- With five weeks of flower behind her now, the FastBuds GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower has passed the halfway point and only has another 2-3 weeks to go! My only hope is that our weather continues to cooperate and at least stay dry to quell any fears of bud rot on her beautiful flowers! I am also checking her trichomes every other day to try to dial in the ideal time to harvest her. 9/8- I'm continuing to water in the mornings on days that we do not get any substantial rain with well water via the garden hose. Today I went through the plant and removed as many old dead leaves as I could along with any shade leaves that were yellow. 9/10- I checked the GG4 Sherbet FF's trichomes today and they are getting very close, and I anticipate that she will be ready in the next few days! There's another week of flowering done for the GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower and she is just about ready to be harvested which will, from the looks of her trichomes, will be in the next 4-5 days... The time is drawing near for the FastBuds GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower to finally be harvested and I won't lie, I am thankful that she's just about finished as our weather has turned cool and wet, which is a HUGE no bueno for big dense cannabis flowers which are prone to Boytris(bud rot). 9/14- Today I took some final pic's and a video of the FastBuds GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower in preperation of the harvest. I also defoliated her, removing a ton of shade leaves which will hopefully help with air circulation around her flowers. 9/15- Chop Day for the GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower from FastBuds! I got up just before sunrise today and took her down. After cutting off sections of the plant, I then transferred them inside to a climate controlled room. Once hung, I set the RH in the room to 50% for the first 24-36 hours to knock down the enormous moisture content present when the plants are freshly hung. I also have the temperature set to 65℉ and have two fans circulating the air in the room without blowing directly onto the hanging plants (very important). The GG4 will hang for 10-12 days, at which point I'll be locked in 'Trim Jail' for a few days at least! ~ GG4 SHERBET FAST FLOWER by FastBuds ~ Well fam, the GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower is finally chopped, hung, dried, trimmed and curing in Grove bags. The entire grow went off without a hitch, that is until the very end. The GG4 Sherbet FF developed some enormous colas that were extremely thick and dense. Under optimal conditions this would be fantastic but unfortunately, because of our weather turning cooler and the RH high, it was a perfect recipe for Boytris to raise its ugly head. Leading up to harvest I performed daily inspections during which I immediately removed any of the branches that had flowers that showed even the slightest sign of Boytris, sealed them in plastic bags and disposed of them. After chopping and before hanging I looked over all of the plant to be sure that the were no more flowers showing even the slightest sign of rot, which I then hung to dry. The GG4 Sherbet FF hung for 11 days at which point her flowers were at a moisture level of 12-14% which is where I like them to be for trimming. The flowers of the GG4 were an easy trim and provided a ton of beautiful 'sugar trim' that I'm looking forward to using to make hash from! After being locked in 'Trim Jail' for a couple of days the GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower produced 484g of sticky flower that will make you drool! I also ended up with almost 1# of superb trim that looks like it's sugar coated! I would estimate that, in total, I probably lost approximately 3-4 oz. of flower but was thankful that I was able to save a good portion of the plant. Overall this was a super exciting and fun grow and I'll definitely be running FastBuds GG4 Sherbet Fast Flower again, although next time it will be in a greenhouse so that I have more environmental control. This strain is amazing, and I'd recommend it to any grower looking for a heavy yielding and potent cultivar... this is it!
