Hello everyone, I'm just gonna start by telling you that when I started the grow I was not planning on making a grow diary, because this grow is totally experimental for me, but since the girls are turning out pretty nice after all, I want you guys to see them too. I dont really have any pictures from the vegetative stage and only few from the start and middle of the flowering, but I will be posting a lot of bud pictures and of course weight and smoke reports.. ;)
So, I've grown some autoflower strains outdoors here in the Nordics and, well, I've never been too impressed with the size of those strains. But after seeing all the positive feedback and grow diaries from other growers using FastBuds seeds, I decided to give them a try. So, this is my first time growing autoflowers indoors, and also my first time growing using hydroponics, NFT GT424 to be exact.
I started germinating the seeds (5x GSC and 1x gift seed Six Shooter) on 02.03.2017 and planted the seedlings (on 06.03.2017) into big 15cm x 15cm (7,5" x 7,5") rockwool cubes, which was my first mistake since it took three weeks (basically the whole vegetative stage) for the seedlings to grow roots through to the bottom of the cubes, and I couldn't start the NFT before they did. They were really small, maybe like three small set of leaves and the diameters of the stems were maybe only like 4-5mm and they were already showing preflowers and at that time and I was pretty convinced that I had screwed up the whole grow. In addition, before the plants were big enough to be put in the NFT, I managed somehow to overwater the cubes (I was told that rockwool cubes cant be overwatered) and got stem rot on some of the plants. Luckily I noticed it fast enough and only one of the GSC's and the Six Shooter were affected badly and eventually died.
So, four plants after all and a pathetic veg stage. I would say that the setbacks in the beginning "delayed" the whole growing process by two to three weeks and I was not expecting a lot since I couldnt get them back to veg stage anymore. BUT, for my surprise, after putting the seedlings in the NFT and starting the system on 27.03.2017, the roots started growing vigorously and the plants growth just exploded.
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, Yeah, I'm really amazed by the speed in growth and how big they got after all. You can actually see from the picture of "the fallen" GSC #2 how small they all were after three weeks of veg when I finally got them in the NFT system. They were actually even a bit smaller than the dried up fallen GSC #2 in the picture, because despite of the stem rot the GSC#2 and the Six Shooter grew just a little before dying.
Crazy.. Never have had such thick main stems (like the GSC #1) when growing in soil and usually I veg my soil plants for like 1 - 1,5 month. And these girls basically went almost straight to flower.
Amazing job with the genetics. 8) @FAST_BUDS
@Skunkstar, Thank you! Much appreciated. :) Shouldn't be too long to see the finished product, the hairs have already started turning brown within a week.
